Movie "This story was filmed on location...inside a woman's soul."
I'LL CRY TOMORROW is a 1955 biographical dramatic film directed by Daniel Mann and starring Susan Hayward. It was adapted from Lillian Roth's bestselling autobiography. I'LL CRY TOMORROW tells the story of Broadway star Lillian Roth and her struggle with alcoholism after the death of her fiancé. The film also stars Jo Van Fleet, Richard Conte, Eddie Albert, and Ray Danton. The film received 5 Academy Award nominations, winning one for Helen Rose: Best Costume Design (Black and White). Susan was considered a shoe-in to win her first Academy Award for Best Actress but she lost the prize to Italian actress Anna Magnani, who won for THE ROSE TATTOO. However, Susan won the Best Actress award at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival.
