JEWISH PHYSICS is difficult so yeah people are still researching that. while some theories claim it to be a 3d brick that can be used in the great wall of china, others haven't shown any claims of it being 2D

Do you have any plans on creating subreddit about municipalities, like towns or cities? A good name could be warsawball.
2
11
u/Portugal_Stronk May 31 '21 edited May 31 '21
The thing with 2nd level divisions and below is that every comic would, by definition, be very very niche and hard to understand. So we're not really interested in dealing with that.
1
u/Bandanadee16 Jun 01 '21
So its basically fair game for anyone to create and promote it. Hopefully by someone eith the passion of this subreddit.

can be fun
we have a discussion about it, but it usually just goes to whoever has the first idea (with a bit of alteration, perhaps)
my aproval comic: https://www.reddit.com/r/polandball/comments/7igyjx/inside_out/
The UK flag, I think
Usually the joke just isn't good enough. The most comic mistake is antialiasing
4
u/Zircillius May 30 '21
Usually the joke just isn't good enough.
So you guys remove posts that you don't find funny? Shouldn't you let the community decide what constitutes a good joke?
1
u/PatriotUkraine May 31 '21
Shouldn't you let the community decide what constitutes a good joke?
looks at wildeoscar trying to force a running joke
No.
4
u/Portugal_Stronk May 31 '21
Shouldn't you let the community decide what constitutes a good joke?
A cursory look at r/all should tell you exactly why that is a terrible idea.
9
u/Blackfire853 May 30 '21
Shouldn't you let the community decide what constitutes a good joke?
No, this isn't a democracy nor should it be.

Mod emperor Space Pirate u/767 how are you feeling about your creation turning 10
24
u/767 May 30 '21
Not my creation, but I regret transferring Polandball to reddit.
Because, primarily, reddit is a nowadays hardcore political and ideological cesspool which tries to dictate cultural norms, and polandball is as it is, with all the stereotypes and traits and cannot be immune to outside happenings.
Well, at least we don't cancel our balls... or do we?
0
May 31 '21
6
u/767 May 31 '21
Good thing about reddit is that subreddits can have it's own rules, but that is not always respected, like in the case with the orange man.
If it is free speech, than it is free speech for all. It's not good if someone is banned for saying all lives matter, amirite?
4
u/bananasAreViolet May 31 '21
What platform would have you gone with, in retrospect?
7
u/767 May 31 '21
There's no easy answer on this one.
Some place that is immune to the big tech shenanigans.
But there's no any.

1.-What were the WORST approval requests you have recieved? (If you have link pelease leave them on the replies. If not, just mention what you remember of them)
2.-Why there are some rules for drawing that are don't actually meant for the quality of the comics?
3.-Who do you consider as the best Polandball artists inside the subreddit (without specific order)
4.-Whitout specific order, who do you think are the best Polandball artists/animators outside r/polandball (in YouTube or other sites)
2
u/tempelmaste Jun 01 '21
Most dismissed approval requests are very much forgettable, sorry.
Several rules are considered more important for the quality of the subreddit rather than the quality of the comic. Stuff like the JLP for example.
Even though they're an ass to deal with, WildeOfOscar is the one artist that still gets me to laugh at comics.
I don't think much of polandball animations and think the comic style is a better medium. So I don't know who's a good animator or not.
3
u/ingongo25 Jun 01 '21 edited Jun 01 '21
If you can, you can check out this channels (they're for me the best Polandball animators):
Kaliningrad General (high quality and very good humour)
Art's Animations (high quality and very funny animations)
No Idea Animation (this one breaks the tutorial a lot but his artstyle and humour are pretty good)
Taco Boii (similar style to kaliningrad general, but good humour also
And "the pillory of No-Gos" comics are actual disapproved comics that were put together as examples of what not to do, or they were made intentionally to look horrible and show rule-breaking comics
1
1
u/Finnkd May 30 '21

Sombre
I too don't understand the query in question.
Alot of edgy kids just love saying radial slurs and get banned within minutes of interacting with the community. It's annoying.
5
u/Portugal_Stronk May 30 '21
We really just forget they exist after rejecting them.
Tired
Hmm? I'm not sure I understand the question
Worst I can think of was a creature that, after we announced the bereavement of one of our fellow mods, would harass us on modmail calling us liars and demanding proof, without showing even a modicum of respect. Back then we could only mute people for three days, so they were always coming back to harass us after the mute expired.

3
u/Portugal_Stronk May 30 '21
Probably the US, to much of my chagrin.
Quality > Quantity, but within reason.
Vile and disgusting
6
u/PrNooob May 30 '21
Another question:
Have you guys ever considered putting Polandball under Creative Commons or other "freedom to distribute" licenses so that some asshat can't just copyright it and viciously go after the community to seemingly destroy it out of spite? It's happening to the SCP community right now, I would not want it to happen here too.
2
u/tempelmaste Jun 01 '21
We don't own Polandball nor did 767. We don't have any grounds of claiming it, nor is anyone of us interested in that.
3
May 30 '21
i don’t think that there is that much of a risk. scp is a work of fiction that has obvious avenues towards other media (movies, novels etc). PB is really in line with memes and web comics. we do not monetize it, but others are free to do so (plenty of youtubers do this). there is no reason for anyone to copyright. it’s free for anyone to do anything with, but those uses are fairly limited.
2
1
u/ResponsiblePilot2517 May 30 '21
Any ideas you might be having to increase general interest in Polandball and more participation in contests
1
u/tempelmaste Jun 01 '21
We're not a company, so I don't see a reason to chase growth over anything.
4
May 30 '21
the new comic system is an attempt to do just that. i beleive there has been an increase in interest since the change. as far as general popularity, pb has grown entirely organically. promoting it would only decrease the average amount of enthusiasm for it. people come to on because they’re interested not because they were told to.
6
u/crimsongold28002 May 30 '21

Do you guys ever plan on making mod AMAs a yearly thing? I think they're awsome yet I believe an AMA never occured last year....
1
u/tempelmaste Jun 01 '21
PB is great right now and always has been. Back then it was mostly adults like me now, but now it's kids who enjoy Polandball just as much as I do, so who am I to judge?
And some of us mods are self absorbed enough to do a yearly ama, but without special occasion I don't think it warrants that.

What were the most memorable contests under the old system (or the new one)? And how would you say the changed system affected the contests?
E: Also, any plans on bringing that Writer-Artist event back?
3
u/AndyRedditor May 30 '21
The Downfall, Germony, yuo kannot the make sense, USA: Brave New Frontiers!, Back to School, Small Screen Extravaganza, Comical Imitation, Omsk Omens October!, Britain Please LEAVE!, May the Fours Be With You
I wouldn't say the new system has been around for long enough to really be able to judge its impact, but one thing that can be said for certain is that it grants the entries a lot more attention than they would get otherwise. In the old system, all of the entries were relegated to a pretty secluded thread that honestly not a lot of people participated in, with many of the entries not even being posted as posts in their own right after the fact, but with the new system, every entry is posted onto the sub individually which should grant them far more attention.
Writer and Artist

8

We've actually provided some statistics about the subreddit to some academic folks not that long ago. Polandball does come up very occasionally on the social science fields, particularly when discussing political cartoons or internet phenomena.

u/HateHunter2410 May 30 '21
Why are you guys so strict with rules? I can understand they are to maintain quality, but why don't give them a pass if a comic is good quality even though it breaks some 'not that important' rules?
2
u/Blackfire853 May 30 '21
Rules are on occasion bent or adjusted when there is merit to such a change.
99% of the time someone demanding a rule change just didn't bother reading them
14
u/Diictodom May 30 '21
Polandball above all things must be funny, even if you asked Vermeer to paint a polandball comic with a plot that a 3 year old thought out of, we would reject it
Not to mention that polandball in itself is deep rooted in tradition, thats why we are maintaining the "shitty mouse drawn" MS Paint aesthetic, although we are loosening up on that bit in recent times. Remember, the rules are absolute.

Most disliked joke/recurring theme not yet JLP'd?
Have you played any games of the Mario Kart franchise? If yes, which ones?
Favourite pizza topping, if any?
1
u/Portugal_Stronk May 30 '21
There's a lot of umbrella themes that haven't been JLP'd, endangered or Syberia'd, but that really get on my nerves when reviewing approval requests. Things like the formation/fall of the USSR and WW2 are almost never original, and if you send us a comic with one of those topics, you're probably getting rejected.
Played the original SNES version, MK 64, Double Dash and MK Wii. They're competent enough, even if a tad boring and uninspired (like most Mario games are). But I guess they're fun, otherwise I wouldn't have played so many of them lol
Ham or pepperoni. A fairly traditional pick, but I don't like to mess with a winning formula.
3
u/Diictodom May 30 '21
Not really, but if I really have to pick one, it would be those "Anschluss" type comics
Yes, the only Mario Kart I played was on the Wii

7
u/Truelz May 30 '21
It's a Hypercube not just a cube, sadly not many draw it like this anymore (Where are the strict mods when you need them!?) And a hypercube exists with the help of Einstein’s special theory of relativity. Einstein was a Jew and nazis didn't like Jews and created Deutsche Physik as a counter to him and his theories which was then known as Jewish physics. And finally because of this comic
