Waiting impatiently for people to call it C4-5FX, just like they do with the A4-H20.

I believe that cooler is the NH-D12L, if so I have it and it rocks (keeps a 13900k under 90° under full load with a pl of 230w)
5
u/ryo4ever Jan 26 '23
Is it with double fans on the pictures?
7
u/dan_cases Jan 26 '23
Single fan is is only 1-2°C worse than dual fan.

u/Natural_Status_1105 Jan 26 '23
Will you do an atx version of this case do you think? One that’s just barely taller than an atx board?

3
Jan 26 '23
Yes it is, except I have different fan placement (one on the front of the larger heatsink, the other on the front of the smaller heatsink in-between)

Time to start planning an upgrade 😈 but it’ll be tough because I’m still loving my Dan A4 H2O 😎

u/illtrick Jan 25 '23
It’s between this and the Meshroom for me! Only sub 15L options that fit the Gaming Trio X 4090 I finally managed to snag.
7
Jan 25 '23
I have the same GPU, and I ended up getting a top hat for my meshlicious. It just wasn’t gonna fit without.
5
u/illtrick Jan 25 '23
I’ve seen it in a Meshroom without that issue but it looked marginal. It looks like the C4 will be an even better fit. I’m really OCD so couldn’t handle a top hat. All that said NCASE and Streacom have been suspiciously quiet about their new Meshroom type case.
2
1
u/jblade Jan 25 '23
You can just remove the top metal (black) bar and don’t need the top hat
1
Jan 25 '23
I did. And didn’t like the angle my display port cables bent, so I went ahead and raised it to the highest notch. Hat gives me room for rear fan cables too.
2
u/jblade Jan 25 '23
Oh got it, yeah I bought a 3D printed feet instead. Also bought high quality male to female connectors so I can feed them through there and easy connect/disconnect displays
Your solution Makes sense, you now have room for another exhaust fan too!
1
u/Frankted Jan 25 '23
Check out alphacool's new liquid block. Cuts the 4090 down by like... 2/3rds. Insane
10
13
u/Elranzer Jan 25 '23
Looks like this is the smallest case we can use for 4080's and such.
39
u/kelin1 Jan 25 '23
FormD fits FE 4090 so that’s probably the smallest if you’re trying to truly min/max but unless you’re gonna backpack it places, the difference between 10L and 15-17L is really worth it. Compact but more flexible.
I’m personally waiting for the M1 EVO. I loved my original M1 and would still be using it if it hadn’t become a giant pain in the ass with modern gpus
4
Jan 25 '23
M1Evo supports mATX, made out of CNCed parts and promises about the same size 🤔
3
u/dan_cases Jan 26 '23
Yes but RTX 4080 compatibility is very limited in the Evo you have to youse the sandwich layout to fit them. In mATX mode only two or three 4080 will fit and no 4090
4
u/kelin1 Jan 25 '23
yes - possibly late Feb availability. with what appears to be at least based on W360s design commentary, a bit more room for even more GPUs than the C4. Both are amazing cases in their own right though. Can’t really go wrong with either. I’d rather have one of either than a T1 or a A4 just bc it’ll be more flexible in future builds.
I’d probably cop the C4 in silver and not wait if I didn’t have a 4090 that doesn’t fit.

So upward of £100 to ship to Australia; oof.

u/AxleLotl May 24 '23
Its available at PC Case Gear. But for some unknown reason, ETA is 29th of SEPTEMBER!

u/p1Xel83 Jan 25 '23
Nice! Maybe an alternative for the nr200?
20
u/bumchicc6564 Jan 25 '23
nr200 but better
10
u/kasakka1 Jan 25 '23
In what way is it better, other than it's smaller? Looks would be subjective.

Also, could you provide us the length for custom cables ?
Thanks ! Looking forward to it.

u/c_r_x_s Jan 26 '23
Looks good. Would you prefer this or the Formd T1?
2
u/dan_cases Jan 26 '23
It depends what you aiming for and what parts you are looking for. If you like to build a case as small as possible take the T1, A4-H2O or other cases in this class.
1
u/c_r_x_s Jan 26 '23
That makes sense with the size of GPUs increasing with each generation. Glad you have a scalable solution for that. Definitely a top sff contender with that in mind!

Kind of like an m1 but 4090(80?) sized and upside down? Neat

Don't know why you're being downvoted, but that's exactly what it is

u/Filippopotamus Jan 27 '23
As someone who has had nothing but issues with risers and my 4080 FE, and wants the smallest case possible without risers and looks nice, my finger is on the buy button the moment it comes live.

I imagine this was probably designed with air-cooled GPUs in mind, but this has potential for custom loops.
3
u/YounglingAnnihilator Jan 25 '23
after experiencing the joy of the h20 idk if I want to go bigger. But Dan's cases are some of the best designed out there. This one is sure to be a banger

Okay I need this case, should fit a NH-D12L cooled Ryzen 7800X3D nicely and I won't have to deal with graphics card risers.

u/GEOtrekking Jan 25 '23
Great. Just when I’ve shifted to things around to want a right-sided case again to view things.
Looks neat though!

Ouh, this became so much more relevant with the tiny 4090 waterblock from alphacool!

Great successor to the M1. Bigger rad support alone could move some M1 owners over.

What’s the maximum air cpu cooler height for this? Would a Dark Rock TF fit?

Only premium case I’ve really been keeping an eye on as a potential FormD T1 upgrade. Exciting!

u/Derpoberry Jan 25 '23
thats an 280 rad?
1
-2
u/JulioBBL Jan 25 '23
Radiator size is usually the amount of fans multiplied by the fan’s size, so a 180 would be a 2 x 140mm

u/Surprise_Smurf Jan 25 '23
Is it possible to flip the case to have the GPU mounted at the bottom?

Does this mean they’ll possibly be discontinuing the A4? I’ve been planning on an upgrade in the next 2ish months and I’ve noticed it’s been out of stock at most of the vendors I buy from

Will the arctic 280 + T30s fit in there?
1
u/dan_cases Jan 26 '23
The arctic 280 will fit. But the arctic will require 140mm fans and not 120mm fans.

With a (true) single slot GPU, can you get another slim 280/240 above the GPU? If you can. 2 x 280 could be perfect for my next build.
2
u/dan_cases Jan 26 '23
It will also work with a 1.5 Slot card like many new waterblocks.
1
u/L0rienas Jan 26 '23
Amazing. I was worried I’d have to go bigger for a 4090 build, but this is looking promising. I can’t wait till overclockers stock this then!

Will this case support a thin 240 rad and LC 4090 in place of the air-cooled 4090? There looks to be a room up there.
0
u/theopenforum-86 Jan 26 '23
love the look, hate the fact it can only fit the reference 4090 lol. So its great but for like 8 people^^
1
u/No_nickname_ Jan 26 '23
It does fit some AIB models, that’s why the case was resized from 13,3 L to 14.7 L. https://smallformfactor.net/forum/threads/dan-c4-sfx.12329/

u/silverfrancis Jan 26 '23
Wow cool sff case. I particularly like how the gpu and cpu/rest of the system are seperate.
How does this compare to the Dan A4 H20 in terms of volume?

u/IsLNdbOi Mar 08 '23
Ugh, just got my 4080 FE and don't have a case. I don't know if I can wait anymore for the C4 SFX (it's my top choice). I might have to break and get the Sliger S620.
-3
u/SwampNut Jan 25 '23
What does this mean exactly? I know delays are somewhat inevitable, but constantly teasing things before they are actually ready just makes people frustrated. So it’s in production — and what happens when the supplier of some rubber grommet misses their shipment due to a factory quarantine? That’s just a made up example, but there’s about a thousand things that can go wrong at this stage, but posts like these give people the impression that they will soon be ready for purchase. That happened last time, and production was postponed, so I bought something else.
3
u/dan_cases Jan 26 '23
Thank you for your feedback but I work different than big companies. I show all my progress and the community can take influence on my products. This is why I tease all steps. I do this next do my daily job so development can take years for new products.

u/V84life Jan 25 '23
WTF? Looks like it is specifically designed to fit only FE cards. What about us plebs with AIB 4090s?

there is an updated list with compatible 4080/4090 GPUs that include AIB models, but the list is somewhat small. The ones that come to mind are MSI Ventus and Gaming Trio models, but for the rest you'd have to look it up

u/robin15243 Jan 25 '23
I'd love to custom loop this bad boy. I"ll use 2 radiators, a short PCB'd gpu, ModUltra Lobo block and maybe T30 fans.
Now just waiting until I can buy it.

Yeah, it pulls in from the top of the case, and pushes out into a GPU Holder/Air Tunnel combo by the front bottom of the case where the air cooled CPU would also exhaust. Then you have a side mounted fan push the hot air out.
For reference, here is the instruction manual for the case. It goes over best practices for AIO and Air Cooling.
