that's what a lot of people don't get that hate SRD. the people that hate it think it's about brigading and starting shit--probably because that's the type of communities they subscribe to. when in reality i just like having a compiled list of the juiciest shit to read while at work. I don't want to harass or brigade people arguing over spaghetti sauces, but I really think everyone loves being a passive standerby at dumb arguments.

What I love is at one point calling someone a faggot is highly upvoted. Then someone making a pop culture reference with the word faggot in it was heavily downvoted. I think both should have been downvoted, but I at least wouldn't have been mad if the reference was the one upvoted. What a disgusting place.

I think it's having a stranger tell you what to say that immediately leads to hostility and I can kind of understand that. I think if someone they actually knew asked them the same thing it would be received much better.

Yeah... I agree. but it definitely also carries a sanctimonious tone to it and any person being requested to stop saying a word is going to either belligerently dismiss that request e.g. "whatever faggot" or challenge the moral superiority/accuracy of the requester e.g. "who do you think you are / since when is twink even a slur?"
either way it derails the conversation for the sake of the requester fulfilling some self-imposed moral obligation to ask people to use nicer language so they can feel like they're doing good.
it's much better imo to just show through an explanation why the person shouldn't use the word without explicitly saying not to. but rarely is that ever done and consequently it always comes off as preachy and ultimately self-serving

This chain looks like it should have some prior comments that would provide valuable context. Still not sure what started it or even what's going on here, but "Shitlady420" and "Taxallfats" are definitely fph troll names, so I'm gonna assume it's either a complete troll or a couple of representative assholes from that place who nobody should pay any mind.

EDIT: I found out it works on r/teenagers (looking through its post history) and I hijacked a thread to use it. It's a bit buggy. It combined some of my comments and does some stuff it shouldn't. I quoted someone who claimed to be a nuclear physicist and under facts about me it says that I am a nuclear physicist. But I'm also listed as a purple unicorn on mars so I think it's forgiveable.

Side note: Twink didn't come from WoW at all. It was a very old term at the time that WoW came out as in previous MMO's like EverQuest the games didn't have "bind on pickup" or "level restricted" items at all in the beginning.
Members of raiding guilds would take extra gear or all the cash they had at the end game and deck out extremely low levels with absolutely ridiculous gear in order to make them unstoppable exp machines.
Twinking in WoW was much tamer by comparison as almost every item in game wasn't tradeable or at least had level requirements.
