BELIEVE IN ALPEREN ŞENGÜN
Alperen Sengun has been the 2nd best player in the league so far, behind only Luka Doncic.
I’ve left the past behind. What’s done is DONE. I’m not going to keep bringing up the injustice he FACED.
All I ask is that everyone believes in Alperen this time.
He won’t let us down. We’re going to win a championship together ☠️

Alperen Şengün is getting single coverage — and making opponents pay
Fred VanVleet and Kevin Durant keep laughing when they see how opposing defenses guard the Houston Rockets. VanVleet said defenders are flying out to him and said three are sprinting out to Durant at any moment — all the while, leaving center Alperen Şengün with single coverage.
“They must have read a lot of bad articles this summer about him,” Durant said. “So they feel like they can get a stop on him one-on-one. And we love that matchup, every time down.”
The Rockets, back home at Toyota Center, turned to Şengün repeatedly in Monday night’s matchup with the Atlanta Hawks. He responded by posting 29 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, six steals and a block as the Rockets won 120-110.
Houston is now 4-0 and its center’s strong start to the season is a major reason why. Şengün leads the team in scoring (24.5 points per game) and is tied for the team lead in rebounds (9 per game with Amen Thompson) and assists (7 per game with VanVleet).

Amen mid range
For a guy who really shies away from shooting the ball outside of the paint, this kind of shot should be a confidence builder.
I hope he finds a couple spots in the mid range this season and learns how to get to them. Kind of like how Shaun Livingston used the mid range as a 6’7 rangy guard. Amen obv doesn’t have that kind of touch right now but with his work ethic he can add this to his arsenal. He also happens to be teammates with one of the greatest mid range shooters of all time in KD. Something has to give.
Who knows maybe the mid range helps inspire more confidence from outside the arc too but one step at a time.

Rockets BIG 3 are Killing it
Only 4 games but the Big 3 have been amazing.
Sengun: 25/9/7 on 66.7% TS
Beyond that he has look great defensively and offensively flat out dominant at times. Guy literally isolated and destroyed Wemby to win. Guy looks unstoppable 1vs1 offensively. Eventually teams need to double him and that will open up the offense even more. It is amazing to have an elite low post offensive weapon.
KD: 24/7/4 on 69.0% TS and 1.5 blocks
Beyond the stats KD has looked great. Guy is scoring 24 a night without even trying. Turnovers are still too high but he rarely has those killer turnovers that lead to easy fast break points. Teams have decided to focus on KD on defense. With that attention Sengun is absolutely dominating in single coverage. Eventually teams will probably start doubling Sengun and that will open up KD massively.
Houston defensive rating is +6.4 with KD on the court and +14.6 offensive rating. Net rating is +21.1 with KD on the court. Guy might not be averaging 30 a night but the offense is absolutely elite with him on the floor.
Sengun is even more NUTS with a +40.5 net rating!!!
Amen: 17/9/4 on 61.4% TS with 1.5 STOCKS
Beyond the stats Amen has looked like a DPOTY level player. Multiple times a game he is making plays that don’t seem physically possible. Offensively teams don’t seem to be able to exploit his shooting as much as last year.
We can say this team looks totally different with FVV. But the CRAZY thing is FVV hasn’t been great.
FVV: 8/3/7 on 32% FG and 29% 3FG with 0.7 turnovers
Frankly FVV has not shot well at all. His assist to turnover ratio has been elite. The difference is he actually can run the offense. Last year the Rockets had NO ONE who could run an offense for 30 minutes a night. That is why the offense looked so terrible. Yet the Rockets still won 52 games.
Even if they had the worst starting PG in the NBA they probably win 60 games last year. Literally just a guy who can handle the ball and run an offense.

Don’t use seatgeek
I am bad at explaining things but if you used the app i feel like that first picture explains it good enough

Fun fact. The Longest Line of Sight ever recorded was from Sengun's hometown.

The Big Goon and the Young Squad
Obligatory, this is no AI. Just good old fashioned human slop with GIMP.
Anyways, I thought why we don't have some fan-art (fan photoshop?) in the sub and decided to take matters into my hand.

Amen: offensive rating
It is only 4 games and offensive rating can be very noisy.
But so far after 4 games:
Offensive Rating Amen on court: 113.4
Offensive Rating Amen off court: 144.4
Houston has a NEGATIVE 31 offensive on/off with Amen on the court.
To be fair a 113.4 offensive rating is still top 10 in the NBA. But that is such a massive gap with him on versus off.
Very odd. Just watching the games it doesn’t seem like Amen is hurting the offense at all.
But having 4 shooters with KD or 4 shooters with Sengun seems almost unstoppable so far.
Hopefully this is just small sample size and the offense begins to play amazing with Amen on the court
