If a post from a few months or years ago suddenly went missing.

It's because I got tired of looking at posts that ranged from a few months to over 7 years of age,

that were, for all intents, dead and long buried.

I went on a house cleaning binge, and posts got dumped.

If you want to keep a post in front of users, bump it.

This time Reddit isn't the culprit, and it wasn't AI powered either, and no, I don't hate AI

That's kinda funny tho

It wasn't my intent to offend anyone; I just wanted to clean it up on the backend.

EDIT:

The sub has been getting an absolute ton of one and done posts in the last couple of months, from accounts that get banned at the upper end of Reddit, typically before I can ban the accounts and I'm left to remove the posts.

Be aware that the cleanup on the back end is still a work in progress, and more posts might disappear'

I'll start at the far end of the already "removed posts" queue this time. I'm leaving the edited and unmoderated queues alone.

OTT Chili

Figured I would post what I did for my OTT chili. (Over the top)

https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/a58253/best-homemade-chili-recipe/

This is the chili recipe I took inspiration from:

I added a whole sweet onion that was on the smaller side, subbed for white kidney beans, as well as adding a smaller can of crushed tomatoes and adding 2 cups of beef broth near the end of the cook. I used 1.5lbs of Costco lean ground beef, seasoned the meat patty with Montreal steak spice, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.

2x2 snake around my Poortex, and some Applewood chips in the beginning as shown.

Cooked the patty on-top for about 4 hours, crumbled it into the chili (this is when I added the small crushed tomatoes and broth), and left it outside for another 3 hrs.

Served with sliced sourdough bread.

25 years warranty for Genesis cookbox and Lid?

• Upvotes

Hi all, I saw someone was saying the older Genesis models have a 25-year warranty for its cookbox and lid. I am wondering any of the front control ones like EP-330 or E-330 have that coverage? Google says it's 2016 and prior models, is that correct? Thanks.

Chicken Thighs

Grilled some chicken thighs the other day. I dont use this grill too often and decided to use it. Cooked it indirect for awhile then finished it off over the coals. Seasoned the chicken with some carne asada season 24hr prior. Made some delicious chicken tacos with the meat. Used my charcoal holder to push all the coals to one side. Didnt want them overflowing out of the basket. I probably could've used a bit less charcoal.

Weber Performer

Hey guys. I have a Weber Performer with the propane assist. The ignition button isn’t working well - 1. It keeps popping out. I can’t get it to stay secure. 2. I have replaced the battery and it it just won’t fire no matter how hard a press the button.

Any tips on getting this fixed? It is not under warranty.

Any alternatives to this piece on the Genesis 1000?

I asked my son how he liked it and he said “too many words”….which, I kinda agree with. As I’m refurbishing this grill, thinking do I stick with original or is there something else out there? Paint it??

Help with new Weber bbq (summit/MT/SM)

Currently have a Weber spirit gas BBQ and am looking to expand into charcoal. Deciding between buying the summit kamado or a smokey mountain and a master touch 5750 as an alternative. So either a summit or the other 2 together.

I'd usually be cooking for 4 people but can be up to 10 semi regularly (few times a year). Predominant use would be smoking meat (ribs, pulled pork etc) so getting the best of that is probably the priority. Would also like the option to do a regular charcoal BBQ when I fancy it as well.

Price and space isn't really an issue but looks like I can get a SM 57cm including cover for £470. If I did get a MT it would be another 250-300 so about 800 in total. A summit is looking like 1300 minimum. The idea of being able to do both in 1 BBQ is nice but not sure it's worth the price difference.

Be interested in people's thoughts.

Latest Weber Project: 1993 Red Kettle

Purchased on FMP for $50 1993 (code P on damper) red kettle and lid only.

Purchased different black kettle $20 on FMP.

Added legs and triangle from the second to the red kettle and from Amazon obtained wheels and new one touch device and handles.

Was able to use the older model ash catcher that came with the kettle but had to do the pipe clamp fit to have a stable attachment.

Cleaned it all up.

Pretty happy with this.

Total cost about $120. I think it was worth it.

Still have the 2014 black kettle and bowl to deal with!?!

Beautiful 55°, Fall Monday evening AKA: perfect grilling weather.
Fired up the Genesis, slapped on some Brown Sugar Bourbon-marinated chicken breasts, and paired them with breaded Okra and mashed potatoes.

For tonight I decided to go with my newest Weber to the collection, and also happens to be the newest one and my 60's thumbscrew.

Pork chops , green beans and sliced potatoes with bacon , mushrooms, & onion . The neighborhood is going to smell very nice , vs nonstop leaf burning smoke 🫠

My Little Weber Collection

Post image

One day I may have the complete outdoor kitchen, but for now I’m happy with my cooking station.

Baby Q
Searwood
Performer Deluxe I just posted the restoration on.
Sam’s Club 22” griddle.

I also have a Q2200 that was my go to for midweek cuisine for years, but not enough patio space for all of it.

Between them all, I don’t feel under gunned at all.
