Weekly question: Which visual novel character did you find the funniest?

Makina from Grisaia no Kajitsu. Her constant quips, strange banter, extreme demeanor, and intense language just made for a consistently hilarious experience.

Makina gets my vote; that girl is uninhibited in every way and goddamn is she fucking side-destroying.

Fuminori Sakisaka from Saya no Uta. I love stories about people experiencing a fall from grace and turning towards evil yet you can still understand their perspective. Saya no Uta is a particularly impressive example to me because Fuminori ends up becoming such a complete monster over the course of the novel, yet you still feel sympathy for him the whole way.

Ah god dammit I was gonna wait until the extra stuff for Little Busters got translated before playing it but not anymore I guess.
Now, on to the question.
For Protagonists, it would definitely have to be Grisaia's Kazami "Juicy" Yuuji. That dude is a badass. A traumatized, sarcastic badass. He was funny in an odd way that I almost always enjoyed, and also had his somber moments involving life-lessons, a militaristic horror-story or some really weird outta-nowhere thought. I've never been one to be able to describe my thoughts on things with any amount of skill, but Kazami Yuuji has got to be one of my all-time favorite characters.
For Heroines, it's a pretty tough call between Steins;Gate's Kurisu or Fate/Stay Night's Saber. I really like them for different reasons, but they're both really awesome characters that have their unintentionally amusing moments.

Mr. Standoffish Man is where it's at! Take your Juicy-Yuuji and stick it... somewhere safe.

My favourite male lead is Kotarou from Rewrite for a couple of reasons. I first read Rewrite just over a year ago when the patch had just come out. I had just started reading VNs at that point and still hadn't got used to the fact that most protagonists are spineless, incompetent idiots. So when I started Rewrite and saw this incredibly funny protag I immediately liked it. And as the story developed he only became cooler and turned out to be one of the most competent male leads (for the most part. Looking at you Lucia's route). Kotarou is one of the reasons Rewrite is my joint favourite visual novel.
My favourite heroine is Ell from My Girlfriend is the President. At this point I've played quite a number of VNs, I've watched a lot of anime and read a bit of manga and to this day I've never meet a heroine that could turn my heart into a gooey mess as much as Ell did. Every line she said made me smile and every time she blushed and got confused I audibly said "awwww" I almost cried at the end just because I was so attached to her. I'm very excited for the fandisc coming out soon so I get more Ell.

Pretty sure I'm alone on this one, but my favorite VN character has to be Caren Hortensia from Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. Hollow Ataraxia is an incredibly strange VN, and the parts of it that are (sort of) continuations of F/SN are great, but I like this VN because of Caren and the main storyline. She's a weirdly amusing character as she both loves to screw with people, and tries to help them at the expense of her own health. I also have a soft spot in my heart for the romance she's in. Hollow Ataraxia spoilers Anyway, TL;DR: I like Caren Hortensia for reasons I mostly fail to understand.... Caren, No spoilers.

I would have to pick Usami Haru from G-Senjou no Maou.
Usami is through and through an amazing character. She manages to be hilarious, have a wide array of skills, have an extremely deep plot, and still have enough faults to avoid becoming a Mary Sue.
Usami tends to take things to heart , and does everything out of sincerity.
Plus, Usami can get shit done.

For males I like Akihito from Comyu and for females I'm leaning more towards a three way tie between Benio (Comyu), Yuela (Kamidori), and Asuho (Hoshimemo). Kaede is still one of my favorites but she belongs on another category.

My favorite character is Akane from rewrite. She's cool, mysterious, funny, and intelligent. She pretty much makes the novel stand out imo

Tsundere King Lover AlphaQRough in...
...
I'm sorry, I can't.
Favorite Heroine: Matsush... Kawakami Kazuko. Matsushima Michiru is a very close second. Forgive me Michiru-sama. So, so close second. But Wanko has stolen my heart. Asakura Otome comes up in third, leaps and bounds behind.
Michiru was originally my favorite character for the longest time.Minor GnK spoilers:
And then I read MajiKoi!. You can call me easily swayed or unfaithful but I don't care. The moment I saw Kazuko, I knew she would be one of my favorite characters. Minor MK! spoilers:
Asakura Otome comes up in third place. If I had never read Grisaia or MajiKoi, then Oto-nee would definitely have been my favorite heroine, or at least tied with Natsume Rin. Her strict and hardworking attitude which is immediately discarded as soon as her dear Otouto-kun is anywhere near her... She's got a brother complex and I love it.
Favorite protagonist: Tie between Kazami Yuuji and Azai Kyousuke. Both characters are a refreshing take on protagonists, especially if you've been reading VNs with indecisive and unproductive/unmotivated protagonists. Minor spoilers: What's not to love about them?
Favorite side character: Toss-up between Inohara Masato, Uesugi Keijirou, and Itabashi Wataru. I love the idiot friend archetype especially when they're perverted (like Wataru), muscle-brained (like Masato) or a little bit of both (like Keijirou).

My favorite female character/heroine is definitely Shiina Miyako from Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! She's just so deadpan, lewd and hilarious. Because of her I started really getting into the whole kuudere archetype. Which is awesome when done right. I like everything about her.
-
Honerable mentions go to Mitsurugi Meiya from Muv-Luv, Saber from Fate/stay night, Komine Sachi and Matsushima Michiru from Grisaia no Kajitsu, Shiina Mayuri from Steins;Gate and Beatrice from Umineko no Naku Koro ni. In moeges or character-oriented VNs, I usually like a heroine with white or otherwise light hair, and a shy or kuudere-type personality. In VNs with an actual story, it seems I generally like strong women (Meiya, Saber, Beatrice) or helpless girls (Sachi, Michiru, Mayuri). So that's pretty weird. But looking at my votes and my list, it seems I'm really not that picky and will generally like most characters.
My favorite male character/protagonist is probably Ushiromiya Battler from Umineko no Naku Koro ni. I love him and Beatrice as opponents. I like that even when he's completely driven into a corner, he always manages to find a way to get out of it. He's also voiced and has a sprite, and I really like both these things in a protagonist. I don't care about literally immersing myself in the story as the protagonist, so I prefer for my protagonists to have an actual personality. They're just another character, and I don't like boring characters.
-
Battler is followed closely by Okabe Rintarou/Hououin Kyouma from Steins;Gate, Kazami Yuuji from Grisaia no Kajitsu and Naoe Yamato from Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai!. So like I said before, I prefer voiced protagonists with a face, and I also like them proactive and not whiny. But bad or hetare protagonists would definitely not turn me off a good game.

Oh man, how to narrow it down? I love quite a few characters... I would have to say my favorite character right now is Nikaidou Shinku from Irotoridori no Sekai. From her personality to how her character is explored through the game and the fandisc (especially the fandisc) really interested me. She was a lovely character.

I am bad at just picking an overall best character... I just pick my favorites from VNs I have played...
Grisaia: Sachi was my favorite... not at first though over time though I found her really endearing and extremely funny, and her route made me cry like a baby.
Little Busters: Kurugaya, I just enjoyed the fact all the other guys found her scary and intimidating.
Rewrite: This one was hard it is pretty even between Akane and Shizuru... Shizuru was just hilarious and Akane was just similar to me I guess.
Steins;Gate: Okabe... he just had this charm about him... he may be a bit over the top but the way he handled his situation would be similar to how I would have done I think.
Dangan Ronpa: Kirigiri, I like cool headed girls...
Super Dangan Ronpa 2: Tie between Ibuki and Nanami... Ibuki is just awesome crazy and Nanami is just endearing.
Katawa Shoujo: Hanako... give her the chocolate
...I have played more VNs but I don't think i should make this post any longer.

Mine has to be Natsume Kyousuke from Little Busters. He's there for Riki the entire journey, and you never really know what's going on inside that head of his, at least until Refrain hits. Tough love, discipline, leadership, amoral means to an end, but most of all, a bro.

FYI your link is broken, zerochan doesn't allow hotlinking. Try reuploading to imgur/min.us if you want to save people fifteen seconds of googling a pic of Kyousuke ;P

If I could pick only one character that have stood out among all of my favorite characters, it would be Ookura Yuusei/Kokura Asahi from tsuki ni yorisou otome no sahou. This guy is so dedicated to learning about fashion that he cross dresses and becomes a maid for one of the heroines to attend a female-only fashion school run by the most famous fashion designer in the world. This guy's dedication to learning about fashion is truly astounding. Seriously, is anyone in here so dedicated to learning about anything that you would cross dress to go to an opposite gender school for 3 or 4 years (depending on where you go to school)? Even leaving out his passion for fashion, he is a very interesting character to read about and of course his relationship with Luna is probably one of a kind among VN's.

Protagonists: I'd have to say either Kenichi (Sharin No Kuni) or Okabe (Steins;Gate). I like the eccentric/serious thing.
Heroine: Meiya (Muv-Luv Trilogy). Her romantic route is ok, but she really shines is as a friend. She is my Noble Confidant.

My favorite character has to be Dlanor A. Knox. Everything from her quiet and reserved personality out of battle to her crazed frenzies in combat make her so awesome :).
I mean, come on! How can you not love this? <- MILD UMINEKO SPOILERS IN THE VIDEO.
Sadly, she is really hard to use in the Umineko fighting game :(
After her, in no particular order, Furudo Erika, Isumi Michiru, Shirogane Takeru, Ronove, & Lambdadelta.
