USF commuters: I’m building a parking app and looking for honest feedback

Hey everyone, I’m the founder of Tessera Park, an independent parking app for USF.

When your usual lot is full, figuring out where to try next can be frustrating. I’m looking for students 18+ to try Tessera on their next campus trip and tell me whether it helps.

It’s free to use. The map includes parking reports from students, so coverage depends on recent reports. It can’t guarantee an open space.

If you’d like to try it, check it before you drive or while safely parked: https://tesserapark.com

Afterward, did it help you decide where to park? What helped or got in the way?

A quick comment here is enough. Please keep personal details out of comments.

Sublease for Summer with optional lease takeover (4050 Lofts)

Hello!! I am looking for a female student to sublease my apartment to. The lease would begin for the summer term and you’d have the option to take over the lease for the following school year.

It is a quiet apartment, located on the fourth (top) floor. The unit is a 4x4, you get a private bedroom and private bathroom. Each unit has a washer, dryer, full kitchen, and one TV per bedroom. 4050 lofts is a pet friendly complex.

The complex is a 15 minute walk from the MSC and it sits directly behind a bull runner bus stop.

Usage of utilities such as gym, pool, and coffee bar are included with rent. Maintenance is prompt and my unit itself is quite clean.

My base rent is $759. After utilities and insurance the rent generally comes out to $810 per month.

DM me if interested.

Halloween plans?

What are people doing that are 21 years old doing for Halloween? My boyfriend and I are looking for a bar/club? If anybody is from Orlando something like Alfies or patio. I don’t want to have to pay 50$ to go somewhere max 20$. Is this reasonable? This is my first time being in Tampa for Halloween. Any suggestions is welcome!!

⭐ 4x4 Female Lease Takeover at The Standard at Tampa! AS SOON AS DEC 1 (flexible start date)

Post image
0 Upvotes

I am looking for someone to take over my private bedroom and bathroom in a 4x4 apartment at The Standard at Tampa, starting as soon as December 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027. The start date is flexible (if you need it earlier or later), so reach out if you would prefer a different start date - if you don't need it until January 1, I am 100% willing to accommodate! You would have 3 wonderful female roommates who are all USF students. I am graduating and moving out of Florida for my new job. :)

  • Dates: As soon as December 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027. Start date is flexible, reach out if you'd prefer a different start date. I am happy to accommodate someone who doesn't need it until January 1 for Spring semester!
  • Rent: $1,050/month
  • Floor plan: 4x4, The Dawson (Sold out floor plan for 2026-2027!)
  • Roommates: The sweetest girls who are incredibly kind, respectful, and clean! All USF students.
  • Location: 2850 University Square Dr, Tampa, FL 33612
  • Safety: The building requires a key fob for entry, and each bedroom has its own lock that can only be accessed with your personal fob. The area is also well-lit and feels very safe. I have regularly walked alone at night to the plaza next door and to and from campus and have always felt comfortable.
  • The official lease transfer will be handled safely through the leasing office at The Standard.

The Standard is directly across the street from USF, with a BullRunner stop right next to the building. The bus (free for USF students!) can take you directly to the Marshall Student Center, Library, and other areas of campus. You can also walk, bike, or scooter onto campus. No car necessary here! Although there is parking available if you'd like to bring your car.

There are many great amenities, including a rooftop pool (open until 10pm weekdays and 12pm weekends!), a 24/7 rooftop gym, courtyards with grilling stations, study spaces, hammocks, and more. There is also a boba tea shop attached to the building!

🛴 E-scooters are allowed and can be charged inside your room.

There is also a shopping plaza directly across the street with a Winn-Dixie, Dollar Tree, and several restaurants, including Panera Bread, Fresh Kitchen, Wingstop, Cold Stone Creamery, Chili's, First Watch, and Nothing Bundt Cakes. University Mall is also within walking distance and has a movie theater and Sprouts nearby. Further, there is another shopping plaza with a Target, Aldi, and Bath and Body Works about a mile away. I have thoroughly enjoyed being within walkable distance to so many options!

*If you're interested or have any questions, feel free to message me! 💚

Lost Pet Bird

Today I tound a lost pet bird in parking lot 17B on Willow Drive. Me and a couple of others attempted to catch it but it ended up flying into a nearby tree and I lost it. It seems comfortable around people but it did end up biting one of the people who tried to grab it. If you attempt to capture it, use a shirt or something to protect your hands from bites or catch it in a box.
Domestic birds cannot survive on their own outside! If anyone sees it or captures it Imk!

Off campus housing for graduate/M.A. students?

This one’s for the MA students that attend USF Tampa in person. Im planing to start my MA in social work in Fall 27 if everything goes according to plan. I live in the Sarasota area but am going to do my classes in person and don’t want to commute. What are some decent housing yall look for? Should I look around the housing that’s right by the school or in other areas?

Side question, how is the structure of graduate classes compared to that of undergraduate? Like with undergrad it’s strict so you have a class two days a week, assignments, etc. Hence living on campus in the traditional sense. As stated I plan to do mine in person so would I even need to live in the area to attend classes regularly or is it something where I can commute bc there’s only, say one class meeting a week for each class. Sorry if the way I explained is confusing.

Precalc/Trig - My dilemma

Hi everyone,

I am a pre-vet student who has to take precalculus algebra and trigonometry in order to fulfill the physics pre-reqs for veterinary school.

I’ve heard some concerning things about the fusion class (MAC1147), with some recommending I take the two classes separately at HCC. The physics department has confirmed this is allowed.

Can anyone speak to their experience with this?

My two options are — Take trigonometry at HC concurrently with Gen Chem I w lab at USF next semester, and then pre-calculus algebra at HC over the summer.

or

Take MAC1147 with Gen Chem I w lab next semester at USF, or MAC1147 by itself, at HC or USF, over the summer.

It’s a 5 credit class (not just 4), at HC, and I’m not sure if that makes it harder or not.

USF needs to have texting a code be an MFA option again.

Currently I can’t log into my USF account.

Reason is bc my login timed out in the Authenticator app.

When I try to log back in, it says I need to type in a code in or from the Authenticator app.

Which I can’t do because I’m not signed into the app on my phone and I am trying to sign into it and don’t have another mobile device to sign into.

When this has happened before, sending a text was an option to where I could simply do that and type in the code that way.

When I went to the library to request them to temporarily disable MFA for my account to allow for logging back into the authenticator, the person even said a lot of people have had that issue.

I don’t know why they took away using a texted code as an option for MFA, but they need to let us do that again bc this seems to be a very foreseeable and common issue that could easily be prevented/resolved if we had texting a code as an option.

Student Free Career Guide

Hi everyone! I’m Vinny, a graduate student at Rollins College working with NEHA, the National Environmental Health Association.

For my project, I created a free guide to environmental health careers, with information about employers, salaries, qualifications and ways to get started.

The examples focus on Central Florida rather than Tampa, but they may give you ideas for roles to research closer to you. I wanted to share it with fellow students figuring out what comes after graduation.

Hope it’s helpful! :)

EGN4905?

Am in the process of being withdrawn from two classes while simultaneously being added to EGN4905 for the same number of credits over the scholarship issue posted a couple days ago.

What is y’all’s experience taking that class?

From the least of my knowledge, one of the academic advisors was written down as its professor and it’s graded either unsatisfactory or satisfactory.
