Simple Questions & Answers Thread Simple Questions & Champion/Role advice: Patch 26.13

Hello summoners!

In order to create better discussion in the subreddit, we will be redirecting all simple or championpool/role questions to this thread. Check out the most recent patch notes on the sidebar!

What is a simple question? Typically, we define a simple question as something that can be answered fully within a single, or maybe two at most, comments. In this thread, you can ask any question you need answered about League of Legends, even if it isn't necessarily about learning the game itself.

Questions about what champ to add to your pool or general tip about roleswapping can also be asked in this thread.

Keep in mind we will still continue to remove golden rule violations, rants, memes, topics against Riot's ToS, and paid services - but the other rules are generally more lax here.

What you can do to help!

For now, this is a patch-based thread, meaning it will be posted every time a new patch is released. Checking back on this thread later in the patch and answering any questions that have been posted would be a huge help!

If you're trying to ask a question, the more specific you are, the better it is for all of us! We can't give you any help if we don't get much to work with in the first place.

Announcement State of the Subreddit, Summer 2026: League Classic and AI

Hi everybody, the mod team here. We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and climbing into the stratosphere where it’s hopefully a little bit cooler! It’s been a minute since we’ve done one of these threads, so we have a few things to cover regarding rules changes and other notices to the community. The primary purpose of these threads is to collect feedback from you all, so please share your thoughts on these or other matters and know that the mod team will be looking over them or answering in the thread. On to the topics at hand!

  • Open Moderator Applications: First and foremost, we’d like to reiterate that mod applications have opened for the summer. The full post can be found here, but the cliffnotes are that we welcome all applications regardless of rank, are especially (but not exclusively) looking for mods in OCE and EU time zones, and applicants must be willing to use old reddit to moderate. If you have any interest at all please apply, and you can always withdraw your application at any time via modmail if you change your mind.

  • Minor Language Updates to Rules 10 and 12: In April we made small changes to Rules 10 (External Content Restrictions) and 12 (Title and Language Rule). Rule 10’s language was updated to specify that external websites must also be submitted for moderator approval before posting, in addition to communities, programs, and streams. Rule 12 was updated to specify that all posts must be in English or will be removed. As mentioned at the time, this has been a community standard for a long time, we only corrected the oversight that they were not explicitly mentioned in the rules. If you would like more details on these changes, you can see the original announcement here

  • Rule 14: AI and Bot Spam: Like much of reddit right now, we have seen a recent surge in bot accounts and AI generated posts or comments. We would like to remind everybody that both bots and AI generated content are explicitly forbidden under Rule 14, and we encourage users to report any bot account they see so that we can remove or ban them. This is a low-tolerance rule: if you are caught using AI or botting, you will likely be permanently banned pending appeal and we are unlikely to be very forgiving, so be warned. This includes AI-translated posts. This is a place for human discussion (or maybe subhuman discussion since we’re LoL players after all)

  • Flair System Update: We know the flair system has been down for some time and, as a fairly popular system, we still frequently get requests for updates on it. Our update is simple: the architect of the system is actively working on getting it back up and running, but we can offer no timeframe on when that might be at this time. We thank you for your patience on this one.

  • League of Legends: Classic: To close out the updates on an exciting note, we have decided that discussion of the upcoming LoL: Classic game mode will be welcome on the subreddit! There will be a few practical restrictions: All Classic posts must be flaired appropriately with the new “Classic” tag, all Classic questions in the megathread must be stated to be for Classic, all discussion of Classic must be kept to Classic threads, and all Classic posts must meet the other minimum quality standards set by the subreddits rules. Otherwise, we’re as excited to see what sort of discussion and educational content emerges from that game mode as you are!

As always, these threads are meant for community feedback to the mod team! If you have any thoughts on these matters, or anything else relating to the subreddit and how to keep it good or make it better, please share them! The mod team will be reading every comment!

Happy climbing,

The SS Moderator Team

support Please help me better explain support roaming / back timing

Hey all, I'm currently a casual D3 Soraka OTP that only plays decay games this past year. I'm trying to help my friend better understand the role to help them climb in soloqueue. They are currently Plat 4. So I'm rusty and not very good at articulating concepts.

My friend plays Zyra, Sera and Veigar. I noticed that very often they will choose to back alone regardless of wave state in bot, because they are able to afford Fated Ashes or Lost Chapter, or a completed item, or when they are completely oom from spamming spells. This usually leads to the ADC getting zoned out or ganked without help.

Personally if possible I don't back unless the ADC backs so we can return to lane together, or help set up a freeze near our tower before roam. I also manage my mana so I'm not spamming spells and running oom until we have to back.

I'm wondering if this is important enough at Plat to mention. It seems like such a small thing to optimize, but I feel it is something that can be controlled and improved.

CSing How do I maintain good CS after laning phase?

Hi! I've been playing LoL for two years, but I still have the same problem with farming.

I'm an ADC main, and I usually get around 85–90 CS in the first 11 minutes of the game. However, when the laning phase ends, my CS gradually decreases.

I checked my opgg stats, and I average 7 CS/min when I play mages and 7.4 CS/min when I play ADC. My games usually last around 30–35 minutes, and I'm in gold elo.

So my question is: how can I improve my CS without going AFK to farm?

Any tips would be appreciated!

Question Should i focus on winning or just playing when im kind of new?

Im level 34 and im iron 3 support with like a 30% winrate and I know i have no idea what im doing. I play support and the game is very fun but i suck and have no idea how to win the game (obviously you destroy the nexus but like how to get an advantage) cause i kind of just played jungle and ganked to level 30. I dont know if i should like bunker down and try to learn the fundamentals and try to climb now or if i should just keep playing without really knowing. I very loosely know the basics like objectives and wave states but i dont really know much else

Question Odd mmr/rank distribution in matches?

I just played my first ranked in long, long time - been playing aram only for years. I sometimes play my placements and end up in bronze-silver.

This was my second placement game, I'm low silver and there were multiple platinum players in the game. Why/how does this happen? My mmr shouldn't be high - I don't play ranked and when I do play the placements I end up in low ranks.

Got flamed since the beginning and we lost, our jungler spent half of the game flaming me while I tried to say I'm sorry I ended up in that game where everyone else was multiple ranks above me. Didn't even get my main role so it was a clusterfuck. One guy understood the situation and just said ff15 we can't win - the vote didn't go through but we lost by minute 16 or so anyways.

Why on earth would low silver in placements get matched with plat players? Last time I was plat/dia was season 3 and it was on different account.

old ranks pic of my ranks on said account. Is it possible aram mmr affects your ranked mmr somehow? I ruined the game for my team, wasn't expecting plat locke mid who had 20 kills in 15 minutes. It was on eune on my secondary account which has really been aram only for years, my main is on EUW but I don't play ranked there either.

jungle First time problem playing jungle

Been playing for a few months now in jungle role

Just played a game, I was Mordekaiser, enemy is Warwick. He invades me level 1, obviously I did because Warwick is insane early fighter, and my mid laner doesn’t move an inch to help. I respawn and go bot camps (started top) and of course there is Warwick to fight me again but now he’s level 3 after I taking my top camps.

Respawn, go to my top side, Warwick there again I die. Mid laner hasn’t moved this entire time.

What am I supposed to do in this situation?

Nasus How do I play vs Nasus? Urgot main

The only window I have against him is 1-5 where he can just give up cs entirely and scale starting from lv 6 (and even if I get a kill during that time it doesn't matter). His 4 stack q is obviously op but his lane sustain is insane as well. I usually buy executioners first thing and even that doesn't reduce his lane sustain by alot because it's lane sustain and not combat sustain. He's as annoying as ww top but scales alot more. Around 400 stacks I just can't fight him anymore

Usually his stack count is something like under 80 during 1-5 but starts stacking after 6 because Urgot can't punish him. The issue is that Urgot has a very limited window to do dmg before 9 so I have to poke him down and then all in, but his sustain prevents him from being poked down. Even if I try to freeze, he just fights me and I have to back off (and he heals from passive again)

note that if I just try to all in at full hp, I lose after 6 because I can't get him to my execute threashhold with 1 rotation of w. Then after 9 he has enough stacks to fight Urgot when I fianlly have sustained dps from my w

This wasn't as egregious when he has 3 stacks per q because if I kill him once during 1-5, Urgot can fight the 200-300 stack nasus at lv 9. He just can't fight the 400 stack nasus

Items Jhin build help

Hi, I just started playing LoL and I use jhin very often with the build I found on mobalytics.

But I've seen a lot of videos of players using different builds and I'm not entirely convinced by some objects I'm using (for example the phantom dancer). Can anyone recommend some good ones or is the mobalytics one already good?

Question Are there any streamers/youtubers who documented their climb?

I'm a new player and looking for inspiration to climb. Are there any content creators who started playing league and then got to a high rank, masters or higher? I haven't found any obvious examples, which is pretty surprising for a game as popular as league.

Question Tools for memorizing cooldowns?

I am trying to improve as a player, and one of the things I started doing recently is opening https://wiki.leagueoflegends.com/ before every game to check the cooldowns of the champion I am facing in mid. I then compare them to my own cooldowns to determine how I want to trade.

I think it's very helpful, but I am wondering if there is an easier resource for this, like a spreadsheet, a calculator or an overlay. I found a YouTube video about a calculator that displays cooldowns and allows you to input Ability Haste to calculate exact champion cooldowns. Unfortunately, that website no longer works. I suspect there are overlays that display cooldowns, but I have not used any.

Do you know of any resources that could be helpful for me?

Yasuo Yasuo/Yasuo players tendency to be bad players

Hi!

Tbh this post was inspired by my last game (100k points and 100 games in Iron 2 Yone/Yasuo main who went 0/8 and later afk) Im not going to rant or sth, bc 1st of all it was a draft and 2nd- i had fun playing my ekko.

My question on the other hand is: Why in league there is a VERY common correlation of people who play both Yone and Yasuo who are very bad at both of their champions? I have been playing league for like 8 years and this occurance was always happening.

I know that the most common answers would be: Those 2 are super difficult champions, thus the feeding. BUT there are many more difficult champions like Azir or Katarina and people who main/otp them usually do VERY well or at least have neutral performance, but when it comes to Yasuo/Yone mains- even if they have 500k mastery points, it is usually a 50/50 gamble- Will they do 0/10 or 10/0? This is a super wierd phenomenon, because it is pretty much dedicated only to Yone and Yasuo

Discussion Returning player getting used to camera is really hard.

As the title says, for me moving the camera in unlocked feels like it gets me killed. But im trying to get better at it regardless. Mainly because i have two ways of moving my camera. I can use middle mouse scroll button and drag to move it orrrrr i could flick to the edge of my screen to move it. Both feel unintuitive. Flicking, for me, makes my apm go up unnecessarily and i have to constantly change my mouse dpi or in game mouse speed to do so fast and consistantly. However, doing so makes me feel like i misclick more then if i had a more steady cursor. So im trying to learn via just using my middle mouse+ dragging. However, since im a returning player i was extremely used to flicking towards the edge of my screen when i was playing. And now im fighting my old habits.

Does anyone have any tips for a returning player or is this just gonna be greuling to kill this old habit of mine? Because im on day 2 and im still dying perma because im killing myself fiddiling with the camera more so then microing.

Discussion Patch 26.21 is live — the 5 changes that actually matter (2-minute read)

Full disclosure: I write PatchPilot, a 2-minute patch brief. I re-checked every number against Riot's final 26.21 notes on patch day, so these are the shipped values, not the preview ones.

The 5 that matter most:

  1. Orianna buffed — Q AP ratio 55% → 60%, W 80% → 85%. The most-played control mage hits harder on both main spells. Respect ball range in lane — her poke and all-ins hurt more than last patch.

  2. Viktor tapped — Q shield 40–140 (+25% AP) → 30–130 (+20% AP), base MS 335 → 330. Still very playable, but the shield covers roughly 15–25 less per cast and he's a step slower. Don't take extended trades assuming the shield eats the return damage — trade, then back off.

  3. Azir sustains longer — mana growth 40 → 50 per level. He doesn't go dry in extended fights anymore; his poke pressure lasts into the late game.

  4. Gluttonous Greaves tax — 1,000g → 1,100g. A small build-timing tax if you buy the upgrade — core item lands a touch later.

  5. Bastionbreaker changed — Lethality 22 → 18 is the real nerf for AD assassins and lethality users; Sabotage duration is now Infinite once triggered (was 90s).

Also worth knowing: Taliyah E damage up (respect a missing Taliyah's roams); Ryze scales harder late but his early E–Q pressure is down — punish him early; Yone Q 110% → 105% AD (too small to change the matchup); Lee Sin ult damage down and W 7s → 8s; Qiyana Q damage down; Yasuo's planned changes were pulled — no changes at all. Replays: downloads are now capped at 10/hour (anti-scraping limit — your own, friends', and other players' replays are all still downloadable). League Classic mode closes Jan 6, 2027 (separate mode, not your ranked games).

Full 2-minute version with sources: https://patchpilot.substack.com/p/patch-2621-in-2-minutes

Happy to answer questions about what any of this means for your lane or champs.

Question Practicing different hard counter picks seems like good idea, but I also think it might be bad idea, so what do think?

I tried playing mid with nothing but hard counterpicks, thinking it would help expand my champion pool, but I feel like practicing when I’m constantly at significant advantage isn’t practice.

If it’s a moderate counter, there’s slight advantage, so I guess that counts as practice, but do hard counters actually count as practice?

On other hand, I feel like getting countered is actually better practice.

Or is it okay to use this method to expand champion pool?

Question How long does it take to become average at this game?

I started a while back because me and my friend found the game cool, took a break for a little after getting level 30, and came back just this week and im realizing how hard this game is and how bad i am at it. I only know the very very simple basics as i watched a bit of videos on how to learn it, so i know how to not run in and feed, how to get kills and do my job, very basic wave management, objectives, etc., but damn i have no idea how to actually win the game. I really dont know what makes a win or lose because in iron its usually one or two people getting superfed and then we lose pretty badly or win really hard. I play support and bottom and i just wanna know how long it takes to get average at this game, like silver rank. Im iron 2 currently and im losing a decent bit more rp than i win lol

Aphelios Resource for learning Aphelios: matchups, gun rotations and combos in one sheet (26.21)

Aphelios is hard to pick up because you have to learn five guns, how they combine, and how the rotation works before you can even think about matchups. I've collected that in one spreadsheet to make it easier to learn.

Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GHUXA9TrPBx__cjo_5i9BY6SP1pthDvdu0krrqRPhaA

What's in it:

- Weapons: which gun combos are strongest and when, how to get the standard and blue-green rotations, what your R does with each gun, and common combo sequences

- Bot lane and supports: every ADC and support matchup with laning tips

- Best duos: which supports actually synergize with Aphelios

- Runes and items: default setup and when to change it

A few things from it that helped me improve:

- Don't root with Gravitum right away. The slow lasts about 2.5 seconds, so root just before it runs out.

- Infernum Q is a triangle that starts from the right, so aim with the target on your right side.

- Calibrum Q into Calibrum R gives two marks on the same target, which is enough to kill anyone under half HP.

It's updated every patch. Questions about Aphelios or feedback on the sheet are welcome.

Jungle Newbie Jungle Question: Why do streamers always find free kills, but my laners just hug their towers?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been trying to learn jungle recently and I noticed a really frustrating pattern. Whenever I watch streamers play, it feels like wherever they go, the enemy laners are half HP and they just walk in for free kills and snowball.

But when I play jungle and go for a gank, the enemy laners immediately retreat and hug their tower like it's their life support. It feels like I'm just wasting my time walking around the map. It's so weird and frustrating!

What am I missing here? How can I make ganks work like those streamers? Any tips on pathing or timing?

Thanks in advance!

Question Help with improving in League

Hi, I am a diamond player (currently fell down to E2) and I want to climb but the last 100 games it seems like I hit a wall. I can't climb past the point of D3 and every time i go on a massive losing streak. I heard from my friend that he submitted a post looking for somebody to review one of his games and somebody did for free. Can any Master+ player do that for me or atleast help me find where someone can review my game. I'm concerned with reviewing because I can't see any major mistakes in my lost games, almost every time it is a hard feeding lane with a 0/5 score in the first 10 minutes. Every game someone blames me so I'm really starting to think that I'm doing something wrong. I play midlane mostly and sometimes jungle and my champion pool on midlane is Zed/Sylas/Akali and sometimes Syndra. Would really appreciate any help.

Question Dance/Taunt/etc as an S-key alternative?

Can you use dance/taunt/etc. as an s-key replacement? I’ve been using it for quite some time as a support main on Leona and Taric (both dances very spammable) and have been wondering if there is functionally any difference between hitting ctrl-3 to stop moving and pressing s? Juking on champs like wukong aside.

Discussion Does anyone emerald+ use drag scroll

Right now i mainly control my camera using edge panning. I rarely ever lock my camera unless im ‘traveling’ around the map. Edge panning is fine and im very used to it by now as ive been playing for awhile, but recently i‘ve been trying out other camera control methods because i feel like edge panning fucks up my clicks and feels awkward when fighting near the edge of my screen. Wasd camera is technically the most optimal but feels too far away from what im used to to be worth learning atm. Drag scroll however seems perfect. What im wondering is: 1. What button do you guys use if not mb3? and 2. Do you have the mouse button drag scroll setting on(where you grab and drag) or off(more like edge panning)?

Question What do you think is the biggest thing holding you back from climbing?

I've been looking at a lot of games lately, and one thing I've noticed is that players often focus on mechanics while overlooking fundamentals that make a huge difference over the course of a game.

Depending on your role, this could be things like:

  • Laning: trading patterns, wave management, recall timers, and knowing when to push, freeze, or let the wave crash.
  • Jungle tracking: predicting the enemy jungler's pathing, tracking camps, and knowing when to invade, countergank, or play for objectives.
  • Mid-game macro: understanding when to rotate, catch waves, group, or play for cross-map trades instead of forcing bad fights.
  • Support: roaming timers, vision control, setting up objectives, and helping your team establish vision and engage before fights start.
  • Teamfighting: target selection, positioning, cooldown tracking, and knowing when to engage or disengage.
  • Closing games: converting leads into objectives, playing around death timers, and avoiding unnecessary throws.

You can have great mechanics and still struggle to climb if your fundamentals and decision-making aren't consistent.

I'm curious what people here struggle with the most. What's your rank, main role, and the one thing you feel is holding you back right now?

I'll to give some advice based on your situation.

veigar Harstuck D3/D2 veigar OTP. How to get to masters and stay there?

Veigar OTP - I'm hardstuck D3/D2. Anytime I get D1 or Masters 0lp I get demoted instantly.

Veigar just gets extremely hard to play against masters/gm players.

Its very hard to get consistent dmg off (they are really good at dodging cage), they are insanely good at punishing my early game so i'm useless until 30 minutes when I get dcap.

Anyone have any tips? Should I do early game builds more? Switch to mid instead of bot lane? Change my champ?

Am I reaching the elo where champs matter?

Discussion Tips on how to improve!!

I've been pretty busy with work lately, so I haven't had as much time to play League as I'd like. I'm trying to make it a habit to play more consistently, and I've recently been averaging at least 5 games a day.

I'm an ADC main, and I've decided to limit my champion pool to just two champions for now: Aphelios and Xayah. I think I'm performing better on these champs than others, but I want to improve my overall gameplay and start climbing more consistently.

I suspect my MMR might have taken a hit from duoing a lot with a friend, so I'm switching back to solo queue to see how things go.

I'd really appreciate it if you could take a look at my op gg and give me some honest feedback and what should I focus on improving?

I've heard that consistency and sticking to a small champion pool are key to climbing, so I'm trying to focus on those rather than constantly switching champions.

OP.GG: https://op.gg/lol/summoners/euw/sorryIstuttered-EUW

Any advice, constructive criticism, or tips from fellow ADC mains would be greatly appreciated! I'm genuinely looking to learn, improve, and climb.

Thanks in advance!
