I’ve seen these cameras start popping up in downtown SLO. Today, I noticed a multisensor camera as well as 3 bullet cameras have been installed on the corner of South and Higuera, where there is already a Flock camera. I think these are Verkada cameras, but I may be wrong on the brand.

Seems like the city (maybe the county as well) are hearing people’s complaints about Flock and are moving toward other ALPR manufacturers. As if the only problem we have is with the brand, and not the concept of mass surveillance as a whole.

I know this is an odd question but I'm desperate and branching out. My 19 yo cat whom I've had since I was 5 is actively dying. Would like to keep some part of her— preferrably her skull, but there are no taxidermists on the Monterey peninsula. I don't want her cremated. The idea of her sitting in a box forever makes me upset, and I'm moving soon-ish, so I can't simply bury her and dig her up layer.

I'm wondering if anyone here has dermestid beetles and/or does taxidermy in the Santa Cruz/Monterey/SLO area.. And would be willing to take her for me (of course I would pay you.)

Please let me know. I've typed this between a constant onslaught of tears. Time is literally of the essence.

If you've interacted with one of the T-Mobile stores, especially LOS OSOS, CHECK YOUR BILL FOR UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES OR NEW ACCOUNTS. I went in to get Wifi (don't do it, doesn't work in Los Osos - Baywood) and they added 3 new lines plus device protection. I assumed the lines were related to wifi but when I looked into my MUCH higher bill, I saw it was regular lines + device protection - no devices!! This could be an honest mistake or a one off but seems unlikely. It was a drama to get refunded by T-Mobile for these scam accounts but maybe now they are aware it will be easier for you. I'd recommend avoiding the T-Mobile stores and doing any changes with 611 Customer Service or Online. Probably if you are here on reddit you already interact online but tell your non-technical T-mobile fam.

No idea when it will open unfortunately.

Does anyone know if Dignity Health - French Hospital hires CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)? I heard that only Sierra Vista hires CNA and French uses LVNs for CNA like duties. Can anyone provide more information about this?

Fall is here with our November lineup! For new films, don't miss out on WICKER and Palm D'Or winner FJORD. We're hosting a mini Italian film festival featuring new short films from young Italian filmmakers, an indie documentary series, and free screenings of People of the West and the short documentary Mee Heng Low. We're also hosting the Central Coast Film Expo, a free filmmaking conference with great panels, networking, and demos. We also have a Francis Ford Coppola retrospective, the new remaster of The Devils, and much more!

Also, reminders: we still do $9 Bargain Mondays, and we still have a $2 small popcorn.
See you at the movies!

Went on a early morning hike, and have to say loved this trail. Began on the side close to the freeway as people told me it would be better since the other side to go up the trail is a steep climb. It’s a moderate climb not to bad, but the views you get at the top are breathtaking, so beautiful. On the way down I slipped a few since it’s a bit steep, but managed to go down safe. Friendly people, even came across this guy wearing scrunch leggings, never seen something like that ( great butt by the way 🤭) but to each there own, real friendly, and great confidence!!! Over all definitely recommend this hike, can wait to hike it again.

I am planning on constructing a flat ceramic tile mosaic of CA oak trees (I dont have enough room for Oak shrubs). It might look something like the one at the Davis but smaller. I would be happy to pay a small fee for your time as well as shipping.

Acorns need the cap as well, though they dont have to the from that acorn, just from the same species.

I know there is at least one Q. chrysolepis on campus (have a photo from a visit some years ago). If you are interested in helping, maybe Dr. Ritter can help you locate them.

Looking for:

I’m doing research for a film project and am hoping to talk to people in the area that have recently gone vegan or vegetarian, but are having a hard time with their families understanding or accepting their choices. I’d love to talk one on one to see how people are feeling heading into the holidays. Please DM me if you’re willing to chat!

It's so important to recognize what is happening in our community. The Christian National Harvest Church in Arroyo Grande wants to influence its congregation on who to vote for. They believe that the only godly candidates are those who belong to Harvest Church. Let's start with the separation of church and state, but really what this guy is saying is: unless you believe our kind of religion, you aren't worthy. Lots of people hold office and have faith. But your faith shouldn't influence your politics or determine your value. This is very dangerous territory. Your vote matters! Your voice matters! Get out and vote! #localschoolboard. #localcitycouncil. #seperationofchurchandstate

Does anyone have a recommendation for a structural engineer who will do an inspection of a residential foundation? We received a pretty high estimate to repair our foundation from a contractor and I figure we probably should have hired the engineer first. Thank you!

This was truly a team effort by SLO County Elections, Fleet Services, and local vendor Quality Tinting. Everyone involved managed an extremely tight timeline to make use of last-minute state funds and bring this enduring resource to the community.

We’re going to be out as much as possible over the next 10 days, and we’ve got a list of planned stops on our website.

Hello everyone I’ve decided to get another tattoo and I have yet to get one while living here in SLO so I don’t know the scene. So in everyone’s honest opinion what’s the best tattoo place?

Just bringing attention to something I was just made aware of. A creator in the Santa Monica area brought up the issue.
Some indoor play spaces may have you sign a waiver for your minor children and we may think we’re just signing away for any injuries the child may get while on the equipment etc etc. But you are also signing for the establishment to use your minor children’s images and voice. As seen under the Image Release and Waiver.
There is one local indoor play establishment I know of that has you sign a waiver and I pulled picture one off of their waiver. The other photos I pulled off play places in another county.

I think the establishments can be more clear as to what the images/videos will be used for.
Am I against play establishments recording for child safety? No. The problem is where are these images going, are they being sold to third parties? Lastly, even though stated, No one should be using them for promotion unless the parent also agrees.

Business/ Contract attorneys feel free to chime in, is there a way for businesses to be more specific on what they are using the images and videos for? Leaving it vague tells me they can be used or distributed wherever.

This was a good lesson in read before you sign.

I’m looking to buy some glass tomorrow and was wondering what the hours were for the shop. It’s not on Google :(

Thank you!

Noel, Missouri, canceled its ICE agreement and suspended its marshal after a 19-year-old student was handed over to ICE. Residents demanded accountability—and got action.

Our immigrant neighbors deserve equal protection and due process. No racial profiling. No holding people past their lawful release for ICE.

SLO County Board of Supervisors: demand an independent investigation. End voluntary cooperation with ICE. Hold Parkinson accountable.

Our county jail cannot be a pipeline for ICE kidnappings.

LOVR is in shambles. There are potholes so big they are more like craters. Whole stretches that are jacked up and cause the car to rock and shake. It's gotten so bad that I can't tell the difference between off-roading.The worst stretch is from Foothill to the 101 (Foothill needs help too).

It's completely unsafe! And uncomfortable, and nerve-racking to have to dodge pothole after pothole.

It also errodes how we feel about ourselves and our local culture. Neglected roads do not promote local pride or self-worth.

Foothill, Madonna, S. Higuera, Broad, to name a few.

All our major roads (plus Pecho Valley Rd) are in dire need of repaving! The patch repairs are not holding up and are not enough.

Who is supposed to be taking care of this and why isn't it being done?

I askbecause I would like to reach out to this person to bring it to their attention and see if we can get our roads fixed!

Signed,

A frustrated and weary traveler
