The Champions League is back, and our Lyonnes welcome Inter Milan to Groupama Stadium!

To recap:

We've had a resounding 8-0 victory over Servette, and a tough 0-0 draw with our friends from Chelsea.

Inter Milan? Their league phase matches so far have been a 1-0 win over Swedish side BK Häcken, and a 1-1 draw with Austria Wien.

So... you could say both sides are undefeated so far.

One interesting thing about Inter is that they eliminated two-time European champions Wolfsburg on penalties during qualification. I don't know that it was convincing, but, they at least show they can step up when it matters.

On paper, I think we're the stronger team, I really hope to see our attacking rhythm from the regular season continue here.

Score prediction: OL Lyonnes 3-0 Inter Milan

What are your predictions, and who are you picking for the starting lineup?

OL Lyonnes 5–0 Olympique de Marseille

Another dominant performance!

Honestly, we made short work of them. Having them give away two penalties certainly helped, but Marseille were absolutely out pressured.

Here are the match highlights on YouTube.

Doubles for both Melchie Dumornay and Ada Hegerberg, with Salma Paralluelo also getting on the scoresheet.

That’s six wins from six league games, with an incredible 36 goals scored and just 3 conceded!

Player of the game for me is Melchie Dumornay, who so casually knocked in her first goal, without even seemingly breaking a sweat. I love watching her work!

Also some pretty clear squad rotation going on ahead of Inter Milan later this week. It was nice to see Endler in goal, I like that she's still getting game time as Grohs is clearly becoming the favoured starter.

Curious to opinions on Liana Joseph's disallowed goal. I would have loved to see her on the scoresheet.

What were your highlights of this weekends match, and how are you feeling ahead of Champions League this week?

Allez les Lyonnes ! ❤️💙🦁

It’s a clash of the Olympiques this weekend, OL v OM!

I'm sure we're on a high with five league wins on the trot, but Marseille are having a pretty good season themselves.

What do we know about Marseille?

Les Marseillaises are currently fourth in the league, unbeaten after five games (2 wins, 3 draws).

They’re clearly capable of scoring goals, but their defence might struggle against us.

There are also a couple of familiar faces in their squad:

• Claire Lavogez joined Lyon in 2015, winning two Champions League titles before moving to Fleury in early 2018.
• Maëlle Garbino spent eight years at Lyon, progressing through the youth system and making her first-team debut in 2015.

With Inter Milan coming up in the Champions League later in the week, it’ll be interesting to see whether Giráldez rotates the squad.

What do you think?

Can Marseille give our Lyonnes a proper challenge? Who would you like to see starting? And what’s your score prediction?

On a separate note, the famous Roller Funky Party is happening at the stadium before kickoff! Here's the details if you're lucky enough to be getting to the game!

Allez les Lyonnes ! ❤️💙🦁

Another convincing victory for OL Lyonnes.

Four goals, four different scorers, and a clean sheet. Feels good!

What did you think of the match? I honestly thought we were solid, and a bit more accuracy could have had another one or two on the scoresheet.

Defensively there were still some shaky moments, but we remained strong. 💪

Impressive performances from many. The first goal to me was the best. Selma Bacha's crossing game is a work of art.

Also poignant to see Katoto net one against her old club!

I found highlights on YouTube here - but I'm not convinced this is a legitimate channel - big match, so they might only be on CANAL+.

Anyway, match facts below.

Allez les Lyonnes ! ❤️💙🦁

We've officially crossed 100 members in the subreddit!

Thank you so much everyone who has joined and is participating. We're still just getting started, but it's great to have an OL Lyonnes presence here on Reddit and some people to share the joy of the club with.

With this milestone in mind - what else would like to see in the sub?
Any suggestions welcome.

Was thinking about trying to do some regular player profiles, maybe some polls or something - but keen to hear from you all!

100 Lyonnes strong! 🦁❤️💙

Been looking forward to this one - one of the big fixtures of the season!

As far as the league goes, this is likely to be our toughest match. PSG are a solid team with some great players, and could really give us a run for our money - especially following our disappointing 0-0 draw at Chelsea.

So far this season, PSG are undefeated in the league, same as us.

Some stats:

• OL Lyonnes: 12 points | 27 goals scored | 3 conceded
• PSG: 12 points | 8 goals scored | 1 conceded

The numbers would say we're stronger in attack, but PSG have conceded fewer goals. So we're really going to have to break them down and step up the defence!

Let’s hear your predictions!

I'm anxious about who starts in defence - Renard or Tarciane? Tarciane seems to have become the preferred option with Renard still returning to full fitness, but I'd like Renard's experience here.

Who else would you like to see in the starting XI? What's your score prediction?

My money says PSG 1-3 OL, Hegerberg and Dumornay on the score sheet.

Let's see what happens!

Allez les Lyonnes ! ❤️💙🦁

I found it hard to keep across everything that our team were up to during the break, but here are some highlights:

🇫🇷 France v 🇱🇻 Latvia

France cruised to a 9–0 victory in their friendly over Latvia, with plenty of Lyon involvement:

• Julie Swierot made her senior international debut!
• Marie-Antoinette Katoto got on the scoresheet.
• Selma Bacha and Vicki Becho both contributed assists.

🇫🇷 France U23 v 🇳🇱 Netherlands U23

A brace for Liana Joseph!

🇳🇱 Netherlands v 🇭🇺 Hungary

Netherlands destroyed Hungary 8-0 and then 3-0.
Damaris Egurrola featured on the scoresheet in both rounds!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland v 🇨🇿 Czechia

Caroline Weir opened the scoring in their first round 2-0 win over Czechia

🇭🇹 Haiti v 🇦🇺 Australia

A 7-1 win for the Aussies, but credit to our own Melchie Dumornay for landing a goal against tough opposition.

🇪🇸 Spain v 🇺🇸 USA

Spain won the first match 2–0. Lily Yohannes had a chance to pull one back from the penalty spot, but her effort was saved 😭.

In the rematch, Salma Paralluelo scored in the 32nd minute to put Spain 2–0 ahead, but the USA fought back to draw 2–2.

Anything else? What did you watch? Who impressed you over the break?

Looking forward to getting back to the regular season with PSG on the horizon!

Allez les Lyonnes! ❤️💙🦁

According to the OL Lyonnes official Instagram, we have 19 players selected for international duty this weekend.

What a squad 😄

I've found it a little tricky to piece together who is playing where - here's a table generated using AI, so double check before locking in:

Doesn't include the U23 games though, I'm not sure if they're being screened.

What will you be watching though?

USA v Spain (a.k.a. Lily v Salma) will probably be a great one to watch

Of course, our Lyonnes will feature heavily in France v Latvia.

Most of these are friendlies, but Czech Republic v Scotland, Romania v Norway and Hungary v Netherlands are 🏆 World Cup Qualifiers 🏆 - so - maybe a bit more on the line?

Will you be watching? Any matches you're looking forward to?

Allez les Lyonnes internationales ! ❤️💙🦁

5 goals against a scoreless Toulouse for us this week, making it our lowest scoring league game this season.

Jonatan Giráldez was clearly rotating the squad this time around, with ten (that's right, ten!) changes to the starting lineup from the Chelsea match.

On one hand, you could say this combination of rotation and scoreline demonstrates some nice squad depth. On the other though, maybe Toulouse isn't the toughest benchmark to say that 😄

Anyway - what was your highlight?

For me it's always hard to pick, but ⚽ Benyahia's free kick ⚽ is probably it for me, with honourable mentions to seeing Liana Joseph on the score sheet (yay!), and that beautiful Becho > Brand > Hegerberg linkup.

What stood out to you? Any players you’d like to see get more minutes after this performance?

Full match timeline below, and you can watch the highlights over on the Arkema Première League Youtube.

FT: OL Lyonnes 5–0 Toulouse

Feels funny having another match so soon after the last!

It’ll be interesting to see whether Giráldez rotates the squad or sticks with a similar lineup.

Toulouse were promoted this season, having dominated the second tier. But, they've get to get a win in the league this season, and seem to be struggling.

They've never beaten us, and the last competitive match I could find was the 2017–18 Coupe de France, where we won 11-0.

So - I'm expecting another big scoreline.

What’s your score prediction? Another 7 or 8 goals doesn't seem unreasonable.

Any players you’re hoping to see start?

This weekend’s match is also OL Lyonnes’ Octobre Rose fixture, supporting breast cancer awareness.

The club has organised a range of activities around the stadium before kick-off, so it would be a great one to be at! 🌸

Allez les Lyonnes ! ❤️💙🦁

Surprisingly, a 0-0 draw at home against Chelsea.

But, it's not as dry as it sounds. There were plenty of chances for both teams, possession was pretty even, and 9 shots on goal a piece.

What did you think? Were we on form today?

Chelsea had two potential penalties disallowed... did we get lucky?

In my opinion, this was the kind of test we needed - the team was put to the kind of challenge we haven't had yet this season.

ESPN has match highlights here, and there's some nice post match interviews too.

OK, it's time!

OL Lyonnes welcome Chelsea to Groupama Stadium in what I expect to be the toughest match of our season so far.

If my Google-fu is correct, the last time we played Chelsea was when they knocked us out of the 22/23 UWCL quarter finals on penalties.

So, you know, it would be nice to punish them! I hope our attackers are as on-form as they've been in our last few matches.

Chelsea have beaten both Arsenal and Manchester United in recent weeks, so, they're probably feeling strong.

Score prediction? For me, I pick we come out on top but with a much smaller margin than we've been getting so far. OL 2-1 Chelsea. Let's see!

Allez les Lyonnes ! ❤️💙🦁

Chelsea game coming up, and while it might be a challenge, I'm secretly looking forward to seeing Ellie Carpenter in action again, I miss her 😄

Of course, there's likely to be a few ex-Lyonnes in the mix!

By my count:

• Melvine Malard
• Ellie Carpenter
• Lucy Bronze
• Kadeisha Buchanan

Three of those four are UWCL winners with Lyon 😅

It'll also be the return of manager Sonia Bompastor - who also won the UWCL with Lyon, and will know our players really well.

On top of all of that - our own Ashley Lawrence will be facing her old club, I think for the first time!

Huge connections here, I'm really excited for it!

Rough day at home for Servette!

Final score: Servette 0–8 OL Lyonnes

I felt like Servette tried to put up a good fight to start with, but once their heads went down, they really opened up the gates for us.

The stats show it: 78% possession, 31 shots (9 on target), and 9 corners, while Servette managed just 1 shot all evening.

Some great play from our team, highlight for me was the Yohannes - Katoto link up for the 5th goal. Perfection!

Check out the full match highlights from ESPN UK.

Would love to hear thoughts from others - who was your player of the match? What could we have done better? Are we ready for Chelsea next week?

The champions league is upon us!

OL Lyonnes travel to Switzerland to take on Servette on their home turf.

I think it'll be an interesting one.

On paper, I think OL are the stronger team, but consider:

• Servette are the Swiss champions
• Our Lyonnes haven't really been tested in league games this season
• These two teams have never faced each other competitively (though they've won a friendly each)

While I hope for a win for OL, I hope Servette offer up some good competition to really test our offense and defense.

Would love to hear your predictions, and who you think will be in the starting line up.

Add your thoughts below!

Allez les Lyonnes ! ❤️💙🦁

Peyow peyow, another dominating scoreline - Le Havre 1-8 OL Lyonnes

To be perfectly honest, this was a mix of our team playing well, and Le Havre letting themselves down with two pretty soft penalties, and two own goals.

Our goals from open play were all pretty nice though. Melchie's header was straight out of a masterclass, Jule Brand scored a powerful individual goal, and I was very happy to see Paralluelo make the score sheet at last.

The official highlights are on YouTube, as is the full replay - go and check it out if you missed it!

Full match timeline as follows:

12’ ⚽ 0–1 – Eden Le Guilly own goal.

32’ ⚽ 0–2 – Ada Hegerberg converts from the penalty spot.

43’ ⚽ 0–3 – Melchie Dumornay gets on the scoresheet.

45+2’ ⚽ 0–4 – Inès Benyahia adds a fourth just before half-time.

HT: Le Havre 0–4 OL Lyonnes

46’ 🔄 Le Havre make a triple substitution.

52’ 🟨 Shadia Nankya booked.

53’ ⚽ 0–5 – Hegerberg scores her second, again from the penalty spot.

55’ ⚽ 0–6 – Nankya turns the ball into her own net.

56’ 🔄 Maïssa Fathallah replaces Ingrid Engen.

58’ ⚽ 0–7 – Jule Brand gets in on the action.

62’ 🔄 Le Havre substitute Thaïs Gallais on.

64’ ⚽ 1–7 – Gallais pulls one back for the hosts.

65’ 🔄 Katoto replaces Benyahia.

66’ 🔄 Chawinga for Hegerberg.

66’ 🔄 Becho for Brand.

69’ 🟨 Mélinda Mendy booked.

71’ 🔄 Paralluelo replaces Dumornay.

78’ ⚽ 1–8 – Salma Paralluelo rounds off the scoring.

80’ 🔄 Final Le Havre substitution.

Allez les Lyonnes ! ❤️💙🦁

Back on the road after a strong start!

This time we're heading to Le Havre, who have a loss and a win so far in the season.

Will be looking out for Melchie Dumornay to maintain her excellent form this week!

Will also be interested to see if and how the squad rotates for this one, with a UWCL game coming up later in the week.

My prediction, Le Havre 1-7 OL Lyonnes - no reason to think that scoreline can't continue, eh?

Allez les Lyonnes ! ❤️💙🦁

Excuse the potato quality photo, it was hard to find a good snap of this moment!

Final score OL Lyonnes 7-1 Paris FC

Fun game to watch. OL dominated again, but it wasn't until almost forty minutes before the floodgates started to open.

Dumornay was on form again, Katoto scored her first two of the season, but Hegerberg was the star of the day - her turn for a hat trick today.

Katoto's second has been deemed moment of the match, and it's a great little back heel - Hegerbergs second goal was just as beautiful though in my mind (sadly I can't find a clip of it!)

I don't think this game was as one-way as last week. Paris FC had a couple of good chances - I wonder if they game would have looked different had they scored when the opportunity arose at the thirty minute mark.

Anyway, with all that - the undeniable highlight was the mid game tribute to Johanna Kaneryd. Impossible to hold back tears, a great way to honor their teammate. This kind of thing is why I love this club.

First home game of the season!

On the back of a solid 7-1 win at Fleury, can we keep the momentum going at home against Paris FC?

I think we can 😄 - I am expecting Dumornay to maintain great form.

Paris FC will be tougher, and are probably bringing their A-game after losing to us in last seasons final.

• What’s your score prediction?
• Who are you most looking forward to watching?

The Champions League draw was announced over the weekend!

Dates are as follows:

I guess we were always likely to get Arsenal or Chelsea or both, they are definitely the cornerstone matches of this run of games.

Managed to avoid Barça or Real Madrid though! (for now..!)

Final score, OL Lyonnes win 7-1

The stats say it all really - it was mostly one way traffic!

Hard to deny that we deserved the outlandish win.

Some highlights:

• Opening goal of the season goes to Tarciane at three minutes in!
• Melchie Dumornay comes away with a hat trick
• Three assists for Jule Brand - the Brand / Dumornay link up was 💯 💯 💯
• Julie Swierot nails her first professional goal for the club, and it was a beautiful thing!

Excited for the season to start for real!

Some facts:

• OL Lyonnes have not lost to Fleury since at least 2017
• Fleury haven't kept a clean sheet in their last six matches
• Constance Picaud (first choice keeper for the France national team) features as Fleury's goalkeeper

So, history favours OL, but I don't think it will be a walkover. They're a team who has continued to grow and get stronger.

I'm predicting Fleury 91 0-2 OL Lyonnes.

Would love to hear any other thoughts and predictions this week!

Allez les Lyonnes! 🦁❤️💙
