Hello!! I am wanting to take my partner to a music festival next year. It will be his first music festival. I have been to a few but i just cannot decide our best/most fun option lol i want us to camp there and stay the whole weekend

i love electric forest and think it is a great experience all the way around but ive been seeing a lot more fun edm festivals like lost lands and secret dreams. I have been to bonnaroo once but i love the electric foresty feel. Should we just bite the bullet and go for the forest?
I wanted to come to reddit and gather some opinions from maybe more seasoned music festival goers, especially to learn how things have developed over the years. my last time at electric forest was almost 10 years ago !!!

i apologize if this is an annoying post, i just love coming to Reddit when i can't make up my mind on something. What do any of yall think?

Oh! we live in the midwest so we are not trying to go anywhere terribly far like california. That's why lost lands and secret dreams caught my eye in ohio.

Welp, it’s official. I’m doing my first solo camping festival.
I was introduced to festivals through a FWB that I’ve since parted ways with. Before him, I genuinely had no idea I would enjoy festivals as much as I do. Turns out, I LOVE them. It’s one of the first places in a very long time where I’ve felt completely free and whimsical and just… myself.
And I’ve decided I’m going to keep cultivating that part of my life without him.
The problem is most of my friends don’t really get festivals. They support me, but they also slightly fear for my life every time I go. Previously, I at least had him as an anchor. We never quite got to fully live out the rave bae experience, but there was still comfort in knowing I had a person there.
Now it’s just me.
And weirdly, I’m really excited about that. I’m excited about this whole chapter of my life and finding more things that make me feel this alive. I’m content to enjoy the ride, have experiences, and see where they take me.
But I would really love to make some actual festival friends.
Does that really happen? Do people genuinely meet at festivals and eventually become festival buddies or form those little festival families I always hear about? Or are most of those groups people who already knew each other outside the scene?
I met and exchanged numbers with a couple people at Breakaway, but apparently Festival Me cannot be trusted with administrative duties because I could not find them in my phone afterward.
I feel like trying too hard to “find my people” would defeat the purpose and that it probably needs to happen organically. I’m pretty social and friendly, so I’m not terribly worried about talking to people.
I think I’m more curious about how you go from “random cool person I danced/talked/traded with at a festival” to “hey I’m going to X, wanna camp together?”
For anyone who has a festival family or people you regularly meet up with now: how did you find them?
Did you meet while camping? At a set? Online beforehand? Did one extrovert simply collect all of you like Pokémon?
I’m excited to go solo regardless. But I think one of the things I’m most excited about in this new little era of my life is the possibility that somewhere along the way, I might find some of my people too.

Looking for whatever is a great festival to go to solo, preferably one in or around the Philadelphia area would be perfect. I’m still new to going to festivals, this would be my second ever I’d be attending.

Lollapalooza: 2014, 2024, 2025 (1 day), 2026 (1 day)

This festival is the perfect city festival. The proximity to transit to anywhere in the city, and the festival is right next to downtown. The scale of this festival is massive. Lots of brand activations - I always walk out with so many freebies.

Electric Forest: 2017

Great camping festival, and great festival to get in touch with nature and to ✨ get weird ✨ lots of free spirits in this festival, lots of art, and lots of small and cozy stages. Great vibes.

Coachella: 2019

Influencer central of course. It was a checkmark festival, but it doesn’t stand out in my memory as having been a particularly outstanding fest. Then again, maybe if I was a celebrity or an influencer, I’d have a different opinion. The festival was just OK for me.

Austin City Limits: 2019, 2026 (2 days)

First time I went was fun, but a friend had the Amex platinum card and was able to get us on stage viewing and the platinum lounges. So that probably spoiled me. The second time I went (this year), I went solo and honestly did not have the best time. The sun was scorching (weekend 2 so I skipped mud fest) and it feels overwhelmingly crowded for the size of the grounds. Little shade, no where to comfortably sit unless you bring a chair and pop a squat in the middle of the field. Zero art, very little brand activations. I have to say this year, this fest fell to last place for me.

Bonnaroo: 2023

Loved this fest. Perfect combination of chill and hype. I went during a year with a great lineup and even though I was solo, everyone was so chill and down to earth. Unlike other fests closer to big cities where the teenagers come out in droves and act like brats. Unfortunately the logistics of this fest makes it hard to go back (that plus it’s currently on hiatus).

Governors Ball: 2026

Loved Gov Ball. The size of the grounds and attendance were perfect, i never felt like it was too crowded and was able to really enjoy the sets. Plus a decent amount of brand activations , not as many as Lolla though. And even though you have access to the city if you want it, you can also just stay in queens and take it chill in the evenings.

Up next for me: Outside Lands! Do you think I will like it based on my opinions above?

Went to look at tickets for a few festivals this summer and had genuine sticker shock. three day passes in the four figure range before fees, single day tickets approaching what i used to spend on a full weekend, and that's before travel and accommodation if the festival isn't in your city. i love live music and i'll make it work but it's getting harder to justify.

i keep hearing that the festival market has just accepted that prices are going to be high and fans will pay whatever is asked. but i have to think there are still festivals out there that understand affordability is part of what makes the experience accessible and worth the memories. anyone found something this summer that doesn't feel like a financial commitment you need to plan six months in advance?

I attended a BabyMetal live performance for the very first time at Summer Sonic 2026. The excitement soon turned into surprise (nightmare) when a group started moving in crazy circles and pushed the audience ahead. Then the phenomenon of pushing and jumping begins which is called a "mosh pit". I lost the mini umbrella and a pocari bottle in the crowd somewhere. Later the surfing began and I could barely protect my spectacles from falling. Fortunately my phone and wallet were safe. I had to push myself towards the central barriers, and later asked the staff to exit me.

Before this I've attended relatively normal crowds of other non-metal artists who maintain their ground position even if they jump. IDK if this is a common trait among metal crowds. This fierce behavior can cause a stampede-like situation or injure someone.

Feelings before the performance: Maybe I should be a regular fan and attend performances.

Feelings after the experience: This is not for me. My body and finances can't take it.

I’m looking for recommendations for a pair of boots/shoes specifically for concerts and music festivals, but I have a bit of a challenge: I have a lot of joint, tendon, and muscle issues, so I can’t just wear whatever cute festival boots everyone else is wearing.

So, odd one. I'm looking at booking tickets for me and my son to go to a family music festival next year "TogetherAgain". Its a weekend camping. As I was going through the 'optional extras' I saw 'access to toilet and water' priced at £45pp + £5.85pp booking fee.

Has anyone seen this before? I'm not a cheapskate but £100 to use the toilet for the weekend seems bonkers.

I’m from Australia and planning a trip to Europe in July 2027 for my 60th birthday. I’m looking at attending a few electronic music festivals, and I recently discovered 3 Smoked Olives in Romania.
I absolutely love the look of it! The forest, the river, the smaller crowd and the relaxed atmosphere with people just dancing and enjoying the music. It’s exactly the sort of experience I’m looking for.
However, I’ve come across some older Reddit posts mentioning problems with toilets, showers, overcrowded camping, expensive food and water, and transport, not being safe etc
I’m wondering whether anyone attended in 2025 or 2026 and could share their experience?
I’m particularly interested in:
Have the toilets and showers improved?
What’s the camping situation like? Are there any more comfortable accommodation options?
How difficult is getting to and from the festival without a car?
Is it a welcoming festival for someone attending solo?
Is there much walking between the camping area and music stages?
I’d be travelling quite a long way, so I’d love to hear some honest experiences before making plans.
I’m also open to recommendations for other smaller electronic music festivals or larger surrounded by nature, with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

Hey folks! I’m looking for an intimate music festival in Europe with minimal/micro house/rominimal, but if good techno or psytrance are also on the menu, I’d consider that too :)) I was generally very curious about Butik Festival (Slovenia) and Garbicz (Poland), but lately I’ve come across a lot of negative reviews about them. I know the best way to find out is to experience it myself, but I don’t want to risk spending a large amount on tickets and having a bad time. Unfortunately the prices are pretty high, and even if I were willing to spend that much, I want to be sure it’ll be a great time.
In past years I went to Las Festival in Poland and it was an amazing experience. Unfortunately 2026 was the last edition, so I’m looking for a nice alternative. The music at Las was diverse, and the vibe was one of a kind (the price was surprisingly low for everything that happened there). Musically, I also liked Sunwaves in Romania, but I felt it was a bit overcrowded and there were a looooooooot of British people causing chaos and mess on the dancefloor. No offense to you dear Brits, but I don’t seem to have luck with you at festivals. For me vibe on the (not overcrowded!) dancefloor is also very important, I love to share magic moments while dancing instead of hearing loud conversations under the speaker.
So I’m looking for an intimate atmosphere, a small festival in nature (I love camping!!) chill vibe and crowd, music like I described, not overhyped, and reasonable prices.
Maybe does anyone know of something similar in Poland too?

So many festivals have been getting canceled over the last few years. What’s going on? Did Astroworld cause a sharp increase in insurance premiums or something?
