I’ve spent the last few months organising my very first event at Goosies, and it’s finally happening this Saturday!

I’ve been working on bringing a little taste of Oktoberfest to Mackay, and it’s been a pretty big learning experience putting everything together from scratch. Feeling a bit nervous about it all, hence me reaching out to you all on here 😅

We’re transforming our beer garden for an afternoon of German-inspired food, beers, live music and a bit of friendly competition.

I’ve got a German buffet, German beer tap takeover, and live music!

We’re also running a few Oktoberfest-inspired competitions with prizes to be won, including stein holding, yodelling, the Great Pretzel Pass and best dressed. So if you’ve got a dirndl or lederhosen lying around, this is your moment 😂

If anyone is looking for something a little different to do this weekend, I’d genuinely love for you to come along.

Must admit, i was pretty impressed. The food was actually good hearty Indian and not just dosed up with full heavy cream. I recommend it, https://www.viamumbai.org/ Very much my new favourite indian takeaway.

It's at the gasworks, i know there has been a few Indian places in that shop space it might be the same people? I do miss the big tandoor they had to make fresh naan.

A couple of days ago I decided to offer, for free, a hand painted acoustic guitar to a local state school, for someone who wanted to learn to play, but couldn't afford to buy one. Not sell it to them, DONATE it to them. No cost, no credit, just give it anonymously to someone who wants to learn how to play guitar. It's got a unique, original paint design that makes it the only one with that design in the whole world. I hoped that I'd get a few suggestions as to which schools might be the best ones to approach. I specified state schools because I believed that sometimes their funding has to be stretched over a lot of different departments, and music is not always a priority recipient.

Apparently, I'm wrong, because even though Reddit tells me that over 1800 people have seen my post, not one single person has responded, and that's very disappointing. I'll be looking elsewhere now to find someone to give it to.

I have a hand painted (by myself) cutaway acoustic guitar that I would like to donate to a local state school that would know of a music student who needs one but can't afford to or their parents can't afford to, buy one. This is not an expensive guitar, it's worth less than $100, but it is brand new and would be a good beginner guitar. I don't want it to go to someone who might just sell it. I want to see it go to someone who will actually use it to learn on, so I'm not putting it on Marketplace. Please don't suggest that. I don't have school age kids, so I know nothing about the schools around Mackay. Suggestions for schools and the music teachers to contact would be appreciated.

Hi everyone! I’m looking to rent a place in Mackay next year, preferably somewhere not too far from the hospital.

I’m wondering if there are any granny flats or older houses with 1–2 bedrooms that might be worth looking into. Its fine if its unfurnished. Which areas would you guys suggest? Ideally, I’d like somewhere with nearby shops and in a safe neighbourhood if possible. Just to narrow down the area

I’m also hoping to keep the rent reasonably affordable. I know rental prices have gone up quite a bit recently, so I’m not sure how realistic this is 😅

Hi! I’m moving to Mackay shortly and looking for recommendations for a good GP who is knowledgeable and comfortable managing adult ADHD.
I’ve already been formally diagnosed by a psychiatrist and have a treatment/medication plan in place, so I’m not looking for an assessment or diagnosis. I’m just looking for a GP who is experienced with ADHD medication management and happy to work alongside my psychiatrist when needed.
Unfortunately, I’ve recently had a pretty poor experience with a GP who seemed to have quite limited knowledge of ADHD medication and its management, so I’d really like to find someone who has a good understanding of it this time around.
Would really appreciate recommendations from anyone with personal experience, particularly if you’ve found a GP in Mackay who is knowledgeable about adult ADHD and easy to communicate with.
