Meta Testing new AutoMod

Hey everyone.

We are testing a new auto mod, yes using a bit of AI. The only instructions it has are to enforce the current rules, plus some minor nuances.

It will most likely overcorrect, and we can tweak it as we go, and if it is just really bad we can turn it off, but what is most likely to happen is that it will do a good job and a better job than the regular auto mod at catching rule breaking posts, and def better than humans at catching what the regular auto mod missed and posts that have not been reported, and this will lead to a lot more posts being removed which will prob make it feel more heavy handed. So maybe an adjustment period is needed.

If your post was removed, and you have read all the rules and posts related to the rules, and you still think it was removed in error, message us mods with the message the mods button in the sidebar/app. Don't just message us asking why it was removed.

May the odds be ever in your favor, but I, for one, welcome our new robot overmods...

Technology works correctly in dreams?!

• Upvotes

So I've had a false awakening where I woke up, reality check passed for some reason, and started discussing my dream with GPT(as usual) and then after a while I woke up and realized this is all just a dream. The laptop wasn't glitching or anything, the text was perfectly readable(I can even remember some of the responses), and the typing was smooth and the generation was also smooth. The web browsing also includes google search and youtube shorts scrolling

People say that phones or laptops or other technology never works correctly in dreams, but my experience says otherwise. Is my brain just too good? Although it's not a lucid dream it makes lucid dreaming harder. My brain has fooled me with every technology-related reality check.

Also the previous dream I was talking about with the dream chatGPT also contains working technology.

Also i just started lucid dreaming a week ago

Technique i may have found the best method for lucid dreaming (if you smoke)

So we all know thc reduces rem sleep, and it’s basically impossible to lucid dream with higher doses in your body, but what if I told you you can lucid dream but you have to set up an appointment with it? But it will be the most vivid lucid dream you will experience. So this is how you do it: 3/4 days before you want to experience this, you stop smoking. The first day you will fall asleep as usual; the second day you might have trouble, but you will still fall asleep. Now, on the 3rd and 4th night is when your body tries to catch up on all the rem sleep you missed on the days you usually smoke. And what I recommend, if you’re newer to this, is pull up a YouTube wild technique guide video by itself. The videos don’t do shit, but in these specific circumstances, you can literally, as you mentally follow the guide’s video, just let go of your body, relax, and just act as if you didn’t have a physical body. Imagine yourself as a being that lives within no physical attachment; you will literally just start dreaming while mentally aware,at least that’s what I did and honestly had the most vivid lucid dream ever since i was 13 and started experimenting with lucid dreams but weed always held me back (18 now) but yeah thats about it.(btw this is not me saying stop forever but if you want a experience that you can fully control without being mentally tired you have to let it go for a few days then just start smoking again honestly better if you don’t though)

Real Eyes or Dream Eyes?

Hey everyone,
I’ve been practicing a 3-phase meditation (breathing, eyelids, sounds) right before a daytime nap to induce a WILD. Today, I experienced something crazy, but I’m confused about what actually happened.
As the hypnagogia became really intense, I saw colorful rainbow bubbles, balls, and weird shapes. Suddenly, it felt like my eyes opened. I could see my room and my lamp, but everything looked a bit blurry, and the edges weren't sharp. I also couldn't move or "roll out" of bed.
I tried to mentally make the lamp move, but nothing happened. When my alarm went off shortly after, the room looked exactly like what I had just seen, minus the blurriness.
My question is: Did my physical eyes open and ruin the process by letting light in, or was this a false awakening where my "dream eyes" opened and I was stuck in sleep paralysis? How can I test the difference next time without moving my physical body?
Any advice on the blurry vision and how to transition fully into the dream from here would be highly appreciated!

Thanks!

Question I’m not really sure what happened or why. Looking for answers. Please help!

• Upvotes

Last night something weird happened. I was asleep but started having a dream where there was this shadowed figure standing over my bed and I was screaming loudly but couldn’t move. I felt like I was maybe awake but couldn’t tell for sure which is why I was so scared in the dream. In my dream I was trying to swipe the figure away but my hands weren’t high enough to touch it and I couldn’t move my body. I’m not sure if I was swiping my hands in actual in real life, but I definitely was screaming in real life. My husband shook me out of it because I was screaming and he was concerned so he started holding me. He was like “babe are you okay you were screaming?” Immediately after I woke up I had a horrible charlie horse down my leg. I get Charlie horses when I point my toes in bed too hard and clench my feet. So my body was obviously in some sort of distress and I probably would have woken up soon if my husband didn’t shake me awake, but I’m just confused as to what this was or why it happened? I haven’t had anything like it besides a few years ago twice in one week when I was traveling I had a dream that me and a friend were trapped in a store and we had to get out and I physically slapped my friend in my sleep and said “we fell asleep in the store we need to go!” and then they slapped me and woke me up because they were like wtf. That happened twice. So I guess it’s possible I maybe might have actually been moving my arms in this dream too? Not sure. But what was this and should I be concerned that this happened out of the blue? It doesn’t exactly sound like paralysis or lucid dreaming. Not sure what it was.
I have NOT been stressed, sleep deprived, taking new meds, or drinking alcohol. I understand the one that happened 3 years ago could have been because I was traveling and sleep deprived. But I just want to understand what this was.

How do you make vision as real, vivid and clear as possible?

Now I know that engaging the sense as much as possible is the obvious answer, but that hasn't reliably been working for me. My vision starts out normal, but as I'm trying to look at objects, the fine details on my palms, it starts to become less clear and then the experience always ends.

Sometimes the experience is vivid from the get go, but not always. Once I had the experience turn super real like a switch was flipped. I've also tried saying 'give me clarity' but nothing happens. What to do?

Does anyone else have this? Brain Resistance to WILD method

So when I do the WILD method (where you keep your mind awake as your body falls asleep) every time I start to notice changes in perception or feeling I get a little surge of adrenaline, not a lot, but just enough to bring me out of the state and back to full wakefulness. It's been like this to the point that it's happened around 11 times in a night and after that I wasn't tired anymore.

Anyone else had this? And how did you handle it?

Is there any hero out there who can save me?

I always make great progress with lucid dreaming, but then, all of a sudden, everything falls apart—usually when I get anxious and stop sleeping well. For the past two days, I haven’t been able to recall a single dream, even though I slept for about 7 hours today. Is there any hero out there who can save me?

Looking for some advice or insight/AMA

I have just woken up from what I can only describe as the most realistic and also surreal lucid dreams I've ever had in my life.

I have had some brief moments of lucid dreaming in my life but have never been able to choose or control this.

I woke up at 4am just naturally, got water, went to the toilet and went back to bed. My alarm is set for 6am so I thought I'll just lay down and chill until my alarm and maybe nod off a little bit.

I sat listening to some YouTube videos for about 45 minutes when I eventually felt tired and lay on my back, I started dreaming that I was driving my own car in some kind of old school racing game and doing huge jumps and crashes etc when all of a sudden I "woke up" in a petrol station still sat in my car.

I thought for a moment I was awake and had fallen asleep in my car but wasn't sure. I pressed the accelerator a few times and the car reved up.

I kind of knew I was dreaming but I was so unsure that I very slightly bumped my car into a wall to test if it was real, then I drove onto the road and stopped at a junction where I got out and started to walk around and see people.

Then I "woke up" in my room to hear someone opening the door, I was laying in bed in my room but there were lots of strange details like the ceiling was a large tent roof lol.

So I stood up and opened the door to find my partner standing in the hallway.

Then I actually woke up for real at about 5:30

For me this whole experience felt like it had been going on for maybe 30 minutes but was properly closer to 15-20 minutes in real life. It felt incredibly real and I was sensing the would around me through touch and sound also.

I spent some time exploring and trying stuff for a bit which all reacted how you would expect in real life.

I don't know how this happened, but I'm interested in discussing it, how, why, when etc maybe get some help with it or answer any questions.

TLDR:

Randomly had a very intense and vivid lucid dream for the first time in years, didn't plan or choose this. Believed that I had woken up twice inside the dream. Any advice questions etc please go ahead.

Experience i had 2 dreams about the world ending at the same time

Was it... weird? I would blame Project Heil Mary for giving those dreams.

Anywho, both of them were basically about the sun dying

(Also, I'm wondering if it means anything if it does plz tell me)

1.

the sun started to get warmer, so everyone around the world just gave up and let ppl live the way we all wanted. no money, no job, and just living the same mins; everything felt so... good? but it was also sad like the air felt cold and toxic like a slow death kinda air me and my cousins went to disney i had my sonic big ahh plush with me and my amy one too dont ask why maybe i stopped caring bcuz we all gonna die anyway the bodyguard (idk if im using the word right) was wearing a shadow costume it was like a good one i would say it looked a bit weird bcuz the outfit was way to tight on them like bodysuit and the head had a big eye hole on it and a hole in the mouth to breath ig he looked at my plushies and growled and was staring at me the whole time which made me uncomfortable after that we went in and.. it was oddly a museum too? it was fun the rooms give off backrooms but in a cute way but then out of no where i kinda got lost and i felt someone following me turns out it was the bodyguard i started running and running until he took the head off and it was my bf i got confused and woke up

2.

The sun was gonna drop on us; it was all over the media i would tell my sisters and relatives but they just told me its not that big of deal or more so wont happen we were on a vacation in a weird place it had mountains tho i was shaking and scared the whole time then out of no where while i was looking at the sun it started getting bigger and bigger i screamed and started running and it indeed dropped it had no sound on it just for everything to start crumbling i got scared and hugged my aunt everything felt too hot and thats when i woke up

Question Open & See if I described MILD correctly?

  1. WBTB. (5 Hrs)

  2. Recall last dream.

  3. Repeat phrase with strong intention.

  4. Visualize recalled dreams and imagine becoming lucid where possible. (Repeat this visualization a few times also).

  5. Sleep.

I just want to know if I know this technique correctly or am I missing something?

People are updating this technique too much.

Ive started trying to shred weight, which is turning out to make this whole thing much harder.

Dream recall

I wake up, but my body just puts sleep above anything else and i dont bother recording what happened. I dont like it!!! Nighttime me is a different person. Maybe I need a tiny break idk...

All day awareness

Same old. Being aware, no social medias (apart from this one post a day lol).

Thank you!

Question Ik this is generic but I really do need help (and don’t just say look at the thread)

Okay I’ve read the thread but nothing seems to work. I tried doing it where I wake up at around 4:00 and go back to sleep but I can never retain control and I forget. As for the one where you try to trick your body your asleep I never stay conscious and fall asleep.

Any advice on how to do it or how it worked for you?

you can ignore the bottom as it doesn’t pertain to the actual question but I’m curious about this because I’ve been wondering

Another thing I’ve been beginning to get curious about is what can you do to your mind within a dream? I don’t just mean study in your sleep because I know that’s possible but like can you legit have a talk with your true self? I feel like not only is this possible but there’s deeper and deeper layers to this. To me lucid dreaming is one of the many secrets in life to success. I don’t know how or why but I just have a feeling if you get good at it than it can result in stuff happening irl. Kinda like manifesting something in a lucid dream and really trying to make it come to life. That’s about it with that and if you have anything lemme know :)

Experience Lucid dreams

It's been 2 nights since in my dream, I look at my hands and notice that they have a problem but, it's only my dream character who notices it. So it's like having a normal dream but the story is about me in a lucid dream so it's not a lucid dream..

Discussion I want to hear your hypnopompic hallucination stories, here's mine

So i have had weird issues with sleep nearly my whole life but it has always gone in waves from frequent to very infrequent. I remember having my first hypnopompic hallucinations when I was probably 4 years old. I remember 2 distinctly. 1 was large grubworm descended from a web like a spider from the ceiling above my face in the night. The other was a small beast (from beauty and the beast) guarding me from leaving my room in the morning.

I usually have them roughly 30 minutes to 1 hour after falling asleep. I wake up, see things for about 5 seconds and then it quickly fades away. I very often immediately panic and breathe heavy for a few seconds and my wife reminds me that whatever I'm seeing is not real, which is very helpful and kind of her.

A funny one I had as a teen, i was staying with a friend and i was sleeping on a twin bed that almost up against the wall but not quite. I woke up just after the sun came up and immediately saw a massive black spider and then it jumped toward me. I was so terrified that i instinctively jumped away from it into the wall and fell down between the bed and the wall. As soon as i realized it wasn't real i just sat there stuck between the wall and the bed laughing at how silly I felt.

There was one time though that I still question to this day. We lived in several different houses growing up and one of them we lived in had sort of a spooky vibe because several sort of strange things happened that kind of gave us the creeps. One instance in particular was a night where I woke up feeling the covers being pulled off my body towards the edge of the bed and I wasn't scared at all because I immediately assumed my sister was pranking me. The only problem was we had a jack and jill bathroom and we slept with the doors open so I looked into her room and saw her there asleep. This one was made even worse by the fact that a few more very odd things happened after this. Maybe it was just a hallucination or maybe I woke myself by kicking the blankets but for some reason it never really felt like that to me and it still sort of creeps me out to this day.

I want to hear all of your sleep hallucination stories! Spooky, funny, or in between.

Thanks

Question Anyone experienced this during WILD?

I tried WILD multiple times last few nights with WBTB & naps

I felt like I fell asleep, then suddenly woke up with a wave of vibrations.

No dream scene developed. (Except my 1st WILD).

Has anyone experienced this? How did you overcome it or get past this stage?

Eating fatty food before bed and lucid dreaming

The last time I had a lucid dream was after eating a fatty food right before bed. Because of the heavy meal, I had nightmares; the fear caused me to "wake up" within the dream, and the moment I did, I immediately realized it was a lucid dream. Man, I’ve got to try this again. There’s no guarantee I’ll wake up inside a dream—I might just wake up in reality instead—but there might actually be something to this.

Question What should I do?

I’ve been trying to lucid dream for four months now. I know it takes much longer for some people, and that’s fine—it can take longer for me, too. However, around the third month, I started slacking off on my reality checks and dream journaling. I’ve started keeping a dream journal again, but my reality checks have kind of fallen by the wayside; I’m not doing them very often. It feels like I’m losing the desire to lucid dream. Does anyone have any ideas or tips on how to get that motivation back?

Question Is there a reason not to?

I wanted a lucid dream for a while now, but I’m overwhelmed on where to start….. I have horrible insomnia and I’m pretty much nocturnal so I don’t know if that would affect things, I’ve had sleep paralysis a few times before in the past…. And I will be starting trazadone for sleep soon I’m already on melatonin…….. I’m also on a shit ton of other meds and I don’t know if that affects things.

I’m very sickly and can’t do much in life and I’m hoping I was able to lucid dreams should be able to do things and function like a normal person, is that how lucid dreaming works?

I have bad ADHD so it’s really hard for me to sort through where to start or what would be best?

Experience (Almost) lucid dreaming as a teenager

I had lot of horrible recurring nightmares when i was a teen, i was always chased by a killer and i knew if he catched me i will suffer an atrocious death. Everytime he put me in the corner and i suddendly know i was dreaming and kill myself to woke up.

Was actually a lucid dream? Thank God i dont have those dreams anymore, but also i dont realize im dreaming anymore.
