MOC Zelda Ocarina of Time Moc2
Hello, fellow Lego and Zelda fans! It’s been a while—time really flies. The boys and I have finished Part 2 of our "Lego Hyrule Adventure" (turn the sound on)
https://youtu.be/YDes6mTK4U4?is=9OIptdrRb52k45Sg
We’ve included a few Easter eggs and references. I hope you enjoy these few minutes of entertainment—especially during these crazy times we’re all living in.
Anyway, i always like feedback and am happy to answer any questions—so feel free to ask whatever you’d like.
P.S.: You can find Part 1 (featuring the castle and Castle Town) here:

How do you keep your kids focused on a single build for so long? Also avoid the Lord Business label from your kids? My dudes like their MOCs and all but not at this level! Nice work!

u/mognixnet 2d ago
Most of the time, they were busy building their own things on the side🤭, but they were always involved and helped out a lot, too. Thank you!

u/Piccadil_io 2d ago
This is exactly the way. Let them do what they’re doing, pressuring kids into ‘helping’ just turns it into a job. Me and you would be mates IRL. I’ve got two lads, too. Bit older (12 and 15) but still nice nerdy boys.

Absolutely breathtaking and I’d probably cry if I saw this in real life
Stunning work

Thank you!! It’s sadly taken apart into its modules in the basement—except for the pieces the kids happen to want to play with right now.

Man, this is gigantic in scale and what it stands for. I love the amount of dedication and love for OoT that is so clearly showing. Beautiful you are doing this together with your boys.
The game itself is an absolute piece of art and this MOC is too. I love it, the attention to detail is stunning. I will definitely catch up on part 1 and 2, very much hoping to see more in the future!

u/mognixnet 2d ago
Thank you for your lovely comment! I hope the videos give you few minutes of fun. Besides Ocarina of Time, we’ve included parts from other titles.. mostly from A Link to the Past. 😊

u/RustyFaceRMT 11h ago
Just had some spare time and watched your videos. They indeed gave me a few minutes of fun. Really neat: all the details in your build, the Navi-camera path, the video angles reflecting the game, the editing with the music and sound and video effects from the game. It's incredible how well you were able to translate the game into bricks.
Also: I never played other titles besides OoT, apart from Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess. But I think I could point some A Link to the Past out because of the choice of music and sound effects 😉
It must have been so much fun to build together with your sons. Hopefully it stays a family experience you all will cherish for a long time.

I’m so glad you liked it! I also look forward to the moment when the children realize that other people from arround world think their Lego creation is great. It’s sure to be a "wow" moment. Thank you so much for your kind words—all the best to you, too!

This literally messed me up. Damn! I could cry. The one weird brick wall bank in the middle of hyrule field? perfect.

Oh my F! This is the most incredible build I’ve ever seen! Been learning a bunch of OoT on guitar and currently working on Kakariko Village and the First thing I see is this perfect recreation. Well done!

u/mognixnet 2d ago
Thank you very much! The music is simply wonderful. I’ve tried playing it on the guitar myself, but unfortunately, I’m all thumbs when it comes to that! 😁

Check these guys out. My buddy and I are using their tabs they made. Makes it a little easier 😁 https://youtu.be/NFw-FrYmAEw?is=CvE_pI_1gee9CLF4

Thank you!. That’s how it really is, thats the point. Without the boys, there wouldn’t be any Lego in my home.

Moly macaroni this is incredible. I'm in awe. I wish I had this for me and my boy. What are you guys most proud of? Any specific part or detail you like a little more?
2
u/mognixnet 2d ago
Thank you so much! The children love the castle and the castle town, because they’re clearly the most fun to play with. For me, the highlight is Kakariko and the spinning windmill—plus the fact that we managed to capture the sunset and the day-night cycle over Hyrule Field so good in the video. That’s something that could have been done on a PC, but we actually filmed it using lamps and colored gels. Was a lot of fun😁

u/Jammin_neB13 2d ago
The only Zelda game I remember playing all the way through was A Link to the Past. I’ve watched a few buddies do play through of other games but none of them ever felt as good to me as ALTTP. Seeing this, gave me the warm and fuzzies, just like firing up my favorite game does. This is amazing OP
3
u/mognixnet 2d ago
Thank you very much!! 🤗 A Link to the Past takes second place in my ranking. Have you seen the video? We’ve build a few things like links house and a forgotten temple from alttp in it 😁

That looks so good! There is something about the first picture that makes me feel nostalgic, like the picture is from late 90's, early 2000's. Perhaps something with the colors idk, but regardless its a lovely family photo!

Thanks mate. Me and my sons just watched the videos and loved them.

Oh man... hearing something like this really touches me. It makes me incredibly happy and proud that you had a few good moments with it. Thanks for your comment!

u/austinjohnplays 2d ago
this is amazing. the video was cute. so much charm, even with the house of skultula dad. seeing Kakariko in LEGO form made me realize how we "see" very clear paths for walking around and doing things in town, but in reality it's just the same grass texture everywhere. Do you plan on doing updates after you play the remake, now that the towns are a lot more 'lived in'?
2
u/mognixnet 2d ago
Thank you!!!! The problem is that almost all the individual modules are stored in the basement—due to a lack of space, only the ones currently being played with are kept in the children's room. Implementing updates would also be difficult, as the layout in the remake is quite different. However, the fact that Lon Lon Tower is now a ruined tower is something that could be incorporated.

I love Impa’s House because we received some amazing prints from a Redditor, and they’ve been put into it: the Triforce, the Mirror Shield, and so on. Absolutly amazing prints.

You spend an incredible amount of money on this project! Is this all real Lego?😳
2
u/mognixnet 2d ago
Most of it is used lego or other brands. But everything we got from pick a brick or bricklink was not cheap, yes

I love building castles but usually mine end up being futuristic bases 😅
I love the extreme dedication and detail you and your kids must have worked on it a long time! I'm curious as to how long it took you guys to do this. Care to share that?
2
u/mognixnet 2d ago
Thank you!😁 it is hard to say. The first part took 10 months (castle town, castle, temple), the second 9 (hyrule, kakariko, lonlon)—and we mostly build on it during the weekends. If I had “worked” on it as if it were my regular job, the whole thing probably would have taken about 2 months.😊 thats the best way i can measure it

Wow... This is utterly amazing. Bit it took forever and was a bitch to put together. But this is fucking amazing
3
u/mognixnet 2d ago
Thank you!!Kakariko has a few tricky angles and is built on a higher elevation, which also requires a lot of pieces for the substructure—but otherwise, I can’t complain. Although, the roof of the windmill was a bit of a struggle, too 😁
3
u/VanFkingHalen 2d ago
The level of detail here is astounding and I absolutely love how you even added a (watercolor?) backdrop to complete the scene. And it's so wonderful you did this with your kids - you must be one heck of a father.
As both a Lego enjoyer and Zelda enthusiast, I just gotta say... Awesome job; I am absolutely floored by this project.
2
u/mognixnet 2d ago
Thank you very much for your kind words! 😊 yes, its watercoller! In the first video, you can occasionally catch a glimpse of the friends who helped with the filming in the background, or perhaps a kitchen cabinet—we wanted to improve on that for the second video to enhance the immersion! 😁
2
u/dabeanguy_08 2d ago
I remember seeing your Hyrule Castle a while back and thinking it was so cool! Now there is all of Kakarico Village!?! Surely you don't plan on doing ALL of OOT Hyrule??

u/mognixnet 2d ago

The brick texture on the windmill is genuinely some of the craziest work I've ever seen. My first instinct was to assume it was all glued into shape but zooming in and it's all legit just blows my mind.

Aww I just met a little boy at the airport a couple weeks ago on his way to Lego land. He was so excited about it. He was with his dad. I hope they had as much fun as you guys did.
Oops that’s not Lego land! Even more bad ass! Love this so much. My nephews will be in awe. I’ll show them these pictures later.
