Final-year Java developer: Should I focus on Spring Boot or system design?

Hi everyone! I’m a final-year B.Tech student preparing for Java backend fresher roles. I’ve been working on Core Java, DSA, and projects, and I’m confused about what to prioritize next.

Should I focus more on Spring Boot and building backend projects, or start studying system design?

For fresher interviews, how much system design is usually expected? Which Spring Boot topics should I be comfortable with before applying?

I’d appreciate advice from anyone who has recently landed a Java backend role or interviews freshers.

Thanks for the advice! I’ve been learning Spring Boot for about a month, but I’m still confused about some concepts and how everything fits together. Could you suggest any courses, books, or YouTube playlists that would help me build a clear understanding of Spring and Spring Boot?

Just write something very simple. Whatever doesn't matter, something that uses Spring data, some basic Spring security and REST, use Spring test for unittests. Doesnt have to be much, but walk through it, make sure you know what each piece does. Lookup prep materials for Spring Professional Certification, you dont have to take it, but just use the preparation
