🏛️ Government Announcement New Notice of Intent - Scheduling of MGPI and 7-HMG

In the Federal Register there is a new Public Inspection document placing 7-HMG in Schedule I above a threshold of 1mg per gram or 1mg/mL, and where the ratio of MGPI and 7-HMG is greater than 1mg per 100mg of mitragragynine.

https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2026-20943.pdf

This threshold is similar to HR 10272.

This will be effective once published in the FR, probably Tuesday since Monday is a federal holiday.

Scheduling of MGPI was merged into 7-HMG and removed from MGM-15/16 which was republished. these remain scheduled during the period of updated notice:

GEORGIA ALERT: Attorney General Pushes to Remove Kratom Products from Store Shelves!

Georgia's Attorney General is calling for kratom products to be removed from store shelves across the state — including natural botanical kratom!

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr has publicly called on retailers to immediately remove kratom products from their shelves. He is also urging lawmakers to adopt legislation that would prohibit retail sales of kratom-derived products unless they appear on a narrowly defined state-approved list.

This approach could dramatically restrict access to natural kratom for consumers throughout Georgia!

We all support protecting consumers from dangerous, chemically manipulated 7-OH products. But natural kratom leaf and chemically manipulated products should not be treated as interchangeable.

Georgia advocates: Your voices are urgently needed!

As lawmakers consider their next steps, we need to ensure they hear directly from the Georgians whose lives and livelihoods would be affected by sweeping restrictions.

Share your personal experience, stay engaged, and help make sure this conversation includes the people most affected.

A congressional letter being circulated by Rep. Andy Harris of Maryland is promoting federal scheduling of natural botanical kratom.

While federal agencies have been taking steps to address dangerous, chemically manipulated 7-OH products, this congressional effort threatens to undermine the critical distinction between those products and natural kratom leaf.

(SEE https://botanicalkratom.org/ FOR DETAILS)

We need members of Congress to hear directly from the consumers, veterans, families, and small businesses who would be affected by federal scheduling.

Please take a few minutes to contact your congressional representatives and share your personal kratom story. Explain why protecting access to natural kratom while addressing dangerous synthetic products matters to you.

For Port Richey, FL the vote is happening at 6:00pm Eastern, and it is called Ordinance 26-752. It makes a broad "designer drugs" ordinance with specific provisions concerning kratom.

For Plymouth Township, MI the vote is happening on 6:30pm Eastern and its regarding a ban on retail kratom sales.

If you are local or feel inclined, I'd recommend reaching out or showing up if there is still time. If nothing else, I wanted to just let people know in case they weren't already aware.

Kratom Sales Ban Final Votes TODAY in Port Richey, FL and Plymouth Township, MI

Two different local governments from two different states are scheduled to vote on proposed kratom restrictions tonight, Tuesday, October 27, 2026. I wanted to share the details for any chance at last minute comments.

PORT RICHEY, FL

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, MI

I ran into issues with protonmail for Plymouth Township. Their mail security systems rejected my messages, so I'd recommend calling the Clerk's office or using an alternative email address.

I would have made this post sooner if I knew, but I only found out about this today. If you live near either of these locations and want to participate, please double check the rules and admission. Let me know if there are any issues with the information I provided and I will correct it as needed.

Is there a genuine difference between red , green and white vein? Is it all marketing?

Do people actually feel more sedated using red vein Kratom compared to green for example?

Are the vein colours more to do with age of the leaves etc rather than alkaloid composition?

Please help. Kratom capsules causing constipation any advice?

I have been taking kratom capsules 6 months I have about 12 grams kratom a day. Right now I am renovating my house going to school and keeping a high energy dog so I need the kratom to keep me running. I eat 3 apples a day for fiber. drink close to a gallon of water. I just don’t have the time to quit right now it would set me back too far. I ordered a probiotic. is there anything else anyone recommends to avoid constipation? I haven’t had this issue for a while but recently it’s been like 2-3 days in a row. would appreciate any advice or experience. all I have are capsules so I can’t really switch. yesterday I started taking 2 scoops MiraLAX one in the morning and one at night. just drank one this morning. anything else I can do?

Day 3 of Cold Turkey

So after 5 years of daily kratom use, I decided on Saturday morning to make an attempt at quitting cold turkey. My usage was relatively mild, compared to some, where I was at around 10-15g/day, taken every 2 to 3 hours. Primarily, I used it for focus, energy and motivation to get stuff done.

Overall, my withdrawal symptoms have been pretty manageable, with some nausea, irritability and lack of motivation over the weekend. The nausea has subsided mostly but my stomach is still not back to normal. The nausea has been a blessing in disguise because im not sure I could actually stomach a dose at the moment.

However, now I'm back at work and need to be able to focus and be productive. This is Day 1 of back to work without kratom. So far it is going better than I thought it is still not easy. I know each day will get better, but I'm wondering if anyone, having been in a similar situation, has any suggestion on getting through the next few days.

Anyone have experience taking kratom to Mexico from the US?

In the past I haven't had any problems bringing kratom for personal use to different countries that have not illegalized it, but I'm wondering about Mexico in particular. I know that it is not classified by the Mexican government and thus it is not a listed prohibited item, but the details on whether or not it may be confiscated are murky. Any personal anecdotes in the past 10 years about how much you brought and if you encountered any questions?

Does anyone have experience using memantine to slow down the build of tolerance? I'm curious about the dosage you took and the effectiveness.

Using my home state as an example. "A Zero commonsense - commonwealth ...The Actual Math on the Massachusetts Kratom Ban vs. Alcohol and Tobacco.

Before you read the logistics of why the Massachusetts emergency Schedule I kratom ban is completely broken, you need to look at the official, cold hard numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state public health data. If you read this one section and still want to claim "all kratom is a deadly street drug killer," you should probably stay out of the conversation entirely.

Let's look at the data from 2020 to today:

• Total U.S. Cigarette/Tobacco Deaths: ~480,000 deaths per year. Over the last six years, that is roughly 2.88 million Americans killed.

• Total U.S. Excessive Alcohol Deaths: ~178,000 deaths per year. Over the last six years, that is roughly 1.06 million Americans killed.

• Total Nationwide Unintentional Drug Overdose Deaths: Over 500,000 deaths combined since 2020.

• The "Kratom-Associated" Fraction: Out of those hundreds of thousands of overdose deaths analyzed by the CDC's national tracking systems, kratom was present in less than 1% of cases.

Now look at how those numbers translate to the state level. Massachusetts banned kratom by screaming about ~100 "kratom-associated" deaths in the state since 2020. But let's break down that word: "associated".

The Statistical Trick Busted

When a medical examiner fills out a toxicology report, "associated" simply means mitragynine was found in the person's blood screen. It does not mean kratom caused the death. Public health records show that in over 80% to 90% of these cases, the individual had lethal levels of illicit fentanyl, heroin, alcohol, or prescription benzodiazepines in their system.

Worse, medical examiners explicitly state that standard autopsy toxicology panels cannot definitively screen for every hidden research chemical, synthetic analog, or unlisted botanical additive on the street. Shady mass-produced brands have been caught spiking their tablets with un-labeled synthetic research chemicals like MGM-15, pseudoindoxyl, or concentrated tryptophan derivatives to artificially boost potency. Because coroners don't have routine tests for these exotic research chemicals, when a toxic, adulterated gas-station product causes an adverse event, it gets lazily logged as a "kratom death"—completely shielding the illegal chemicals that actually caused the harm.

In fact, the data collection is so broad that the American Kratom Association (AKA) found instances where the FDA included individuals who died of completely unrelated physical trauma—including a gunshot wound—under "kratom-associated deaths" simply because the herb was in their system at the time of death. If someone tragically overdoses on fentanyl after drinking a cup of coffee, we don't call it a "caffeine overdose." Yet, that is exactly the statistical trick being used to pass blanket bans.

The "33 Times Morphine" Myth vs. Real Human Digestion

The online comments saying, "Kids are buying powder at gas stations and getting hooked on a drug 33 times stronger than morphine" are completely uneducated.

First, people see that "33x" figure and automatically assume it means it's 33 times more powerful, like taking some super-heroin. What they completely fail to realize is that the original study showing high receptor affinity was done on isolated animal tissue in a laboratory. To get those numbers, scientists used 99.7% pure, chemical-grade isolated compounds injected directly into the tissue.

That is a world away from a human being chewing a tablet, using it sublingually, or swallowing a pill and letting their digestive tract and liver process it. Furthermore, natural kratom alkaloids act as partial agonists. Unlike morphine or fentanyl, they have a natural biological "ceiling effect" proven by scientists, meaning they do not cause the lethal respiratory depression that full agonist narcotics do.

Every Human Body is Biochemically Unique

The people online who claim that everyone taking 7-OH or leaf is secretly just "tricking themselves" into an addiction are completely ignoring human biology. Every single body possesses a different metabolic enzyme profile.

As a fully disabled chronic pain patient who is forced to live stuck in bed, my liver processes medications completely differently. I have such severe, complex spinal damage and compressed nerves from a single accident that local hospitals can't even catch it on basic MRIs. I had to discover that liquid IV morphine does absolutely nothing to me because my body pushes it through too fast. When I was younger, a doctor found out that my specific liver enzymes pushed 800mg of Tramadol right through my system in an hour.

I don't get high from clean kratom products, and I have never had to worry about chemical addiction my entire life. Literally the only thing I have ever had a genuine, sit-up-at-night craving for is Ben & Jerry's ice cream! If you are addicted to ice cream the way I am, you understand why a legal product that most people can handle safely suddenly becomes a demonized target online. When chronic pain patients say they aren't getting high from clean, high-quality leaf or low-milligram 7-OH from reputable vendors, they are telling the absolute TRUTH.

The Big Pharma Playbook vs. Common Sense

We are watching the exact same "moral panic" playbook that was used to demonize marijuana as the "devil's reefer" decades ago, pushed by a pharmaceutical industry that stands to lose billions when people turn to natural botanicals.

Think about the hypocrisy: the government and insurance companies willingly hand out powerful SSRIs like Cymbalta or Duloxetine, tell you they are perfectly safe, and then suddenly drop your coverage or demand a "pre-authorization" overnight. If you have to stop taking those medications cold turkey because of an insurance glitch, you experience horrific, dangerous "brain zaps" and severe withdrawal symptoms that land people in the hospital. Countless suicides have been linked to abrupt discontinuation of legally prescribed pharmaceuticals, yet big pharmacy law firms afford multi-million dollar payouts to bury the cases and roll out a new drug the next year.

Unadulterated, raw kratom leaf contains a minuscule 0.05% of 7-OH. Adults have been using it safely since the 1980s without issue. If you take clean, verified products responsibly for months and decide to stop, your worst-case scenario is usually some mild restless legs and needing to drink a little extra water.

The Failure of the Massachusetts Ban

The real threat to public safety is not the natural plant. It is the unregulated, mass-produced "Wild West" gas station market. Shady brands are selling mega-dose, chemically isolated tablets that are frequently contaminated with residual industrial solvents like acetone, butane, and heavy metals. They are cutting products with synthetic research chemicals like MGM-15 or pseudoindoxyl to make a quick buck.

By rushing a total blanket ban via emergency executive powers, Governor Healey and the DPH didn’t stop the illicit underground chemical labs. They just stripped away safe, clean, low-milligram options from responsible, disabled adult patients who rely on this plant just to survive the day.

Anything can be addictive, from caffeine to ice cream, but we don't ban coffee because people abuse energy drinks. We need age-gating, mandatory independent lab testing, and strict bans on synthetic adulterants—not a reactionary prohibition that punishes pain patients and leaves them stranded in the dark.

🚦Reductions or Stopping Use Struggling to quit MIT

I drink these 100 mg MIT sodas almost everyday and have been for a year. They are so expensive, but if I buy them in bulk I binge. I tried to switch to dry leaf, and it helps with the diarrhea, RLS, cramps, and sweats, but makes the cravings and anxiety much worse. And dry leaf makes me more constipated and bloated. I can skip a day without symptoms but at about 30 or so hours I instantly have terrible symptoms.

I at this point cold turkey and tapering are equally ineffective. And I legit cannot focus on anything.

I don’t think kratom is bad. Before I became dependent it helped every facet of my life. Just need to reset for a year or two.

Any advice or words of encouragement?

Tapering to 0.3 gpd? huh?

I'm in the process of quitting kratom and I went from 30 gpd to 16 gpd rather quickly and don't feel too bad. I was doing some research on tapering and found a source not to be named and saw some truly bizarre stuff. Some people claim they tapered from 40 gpd to now 1.3 gpd. Wtf? Isn't that a tiny amount? You would think at that point you can just stop taking it. One guy even managed to taper down to 0.3 gpd. I'm not kidding. That is such a minute amount that it would have next to zero effect. Am I crazy to think that I can just jump off at 6 gpd if any of you had to get off? We are talking about regular leaf Kratom, not 7oh. Quitting Kratom is not that easy but these guys make it looks insanely difficult. Am I wrong on this? It's hard enough and these guys are pretty discouraging.

Adding mit extract to powder?

I've ordered products based on how the samples worked for me. If I really like it I buy a Kilo. For whatever reason once I get the kilo...it sure doesn't seem like the sample at all. I have a few kilos sitting in a bin. I really can't bring myself to throw them out! Well more like 6 so roughly $600.00 in products. Could I mix a mit extract powder in with the kilo to bring it to something worth taking? I've only taken plain leaf. Any thoughts? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

contacting the Georgia DA

i literally might just be dumb but i cannot for the life of me find an email to contact his office in any way other than to “request a meeting”. i want to send in my kratom testimony as i’ve done with countless other states as they’ve been fighting their battles. might be small and meaningless, but i want to do it. can anyone help me find an email or even a physical address where things like this can be sent in?

Where do you buy leaf powder and what do you generally pay?

I imagine this has been asked before, but I'm just curious. We used to go to a herbologist downtown, but she had to charge a lot because the rent there is quite high. Then I found a smoke shop that carries only a certain brand for much less. A kilo is $99.95, 250 grams is $39.95, 120 is $19.95.

How 'bout y'all?

Kratom in the morning

Why does (for me at least) Kratom hit so much stronger and lasts longer when I take it right after I wake up? It’s not just the empty stomach because I have taken it on an empty stomach in the afternoon/evening too and the effects are much milder and shorter in duration..

Tolerance break

So, I’ve been taking about 2-4 grams of kratom every day for over a year now. I’m currently on day 6 of a break and feel quite normal. I use it as a stimulant for my mornings or as a pre-workout before going to the gym. I decided to take a break because I felt that the amount I was taking wasn’t as effective as it was at the beginning of the year. How long do people on here take breaks before resuming their kratom usage?

Is this a good rapid taper plan?

I’ve been dependent on kratom for around 4 weeks now. I start getting RL’s and anxiety if I dont dose every 4-5 hours. Im also using pregabalin and diazepam carefully to help the symptoms.

My plan for ~12 days from now on:
Day 1: 12g
Day 2: 10g
Day 3: 9g
Day 4: 8g
etc.. till day 12 at 0g

Im wondering if this will work, I also find it pretty tough since anxiety fucks me up.. Is this a good tapering plan and anyone got tips for me to handle it?

Thank you in advance.
