Food Which do you prefer? Callaloo and Bok Choy (Pap Choy) are two nutritious leafy vegetables enjoyed in Jamaican kitchens. 🇯🇲 Both provide vitamins A, C and K, along with minerals and antioxidants that support healthy bones, vision and immunity. People seem to prefer Callaloo over Bok Choy.

Help How to maximize the whole university experience after having wasted most of it as a super religious person?

I'm 21M I have 1½ years of undergrad left (I go to UWI). I spent all my life super religious and now I'm just no longer religious. I spent my UWI years with a certain religious group associated with the tertiary students in Jamaica and now I'm kinda vexed that I could've done something more meaningful like join Rotaract club or play a sport or some shit. (Most of Rotaract stuff seem to happen on Saturdays and wdyk I grew up strict Adventist).

Also maybe join back a certain performing arts group that I had to leave due to my former Sabbath beliefs.

I'm an attractive fella and I have a car n ting but ngl I don't think I want a hoe phase. I'm fresh out of a (super Christian) relationship (yes, Christian in every sense of the word lol) and I'm tryna get to know what the real world is like.

What can I do to finally experience the real university experience like a normal person? What clubs/activities do you recommend?

Food How can Jamaica effectively manage drought, strengthen food security, and reduce dependence on food imports without relying on GMOs? What practical, sustainable solutions involving water management, agriculture, technology, infrastructure, government policy, and investment could be implemented?

Help Jamaican tank top?

Post image
162 Upvotes

Hey Jamaica Sub. First time here. Was hoping you can help settle a debate. For context, I’m a first generation Dominican. My brother in law is a first generation Jamaican.

I very vividly remember a certain style of Jamaican tank top. It was mesh, woven style tank top. None of the ones I can find online seem “right”. They just don’t look the way I remember them. I’m asking my bro in law about it and he seems to have no idea what I’m talking about. Am I crazy here? Wasn’t this like a fairly common tank top? Does it have a specific name? And where can I find one?

If this post is inappropriate I apologize but just thought this would be the best sub to ask.

News Is this where Jamaican online news reporting is heading?

Recently, an up-and-coming Jamaican DJ, DJ Kovert, tragically passed away in a car accident.

Shortly after news of his passing broke, the online reporter jamaica.tory.25 reportedly posted several AI-generated TikTok videos mocking his death and damaging his reputation. After the videos were reported and taken down, another video appeared, this time targeting and mocking his friends.

This also raises questions about a broader pattern of AI-generated content from the accounts jamaica.tory.25 and jamaica.tory.2, which have posted similar content over the years. Despite the controversial nature of this material, the accounts continue to attract significant engagement, including thousands of views and, in some cases, hundreds of thousands of likes.

When does online commentary cross the line into harassment, particularly when it involves someone who has died and the people grieving them? Why does this kind of content continue to attract so much engagement, and what does it say about the direction of Jamaican online news reporting?

Jamaicans Abroad What to expect at a University's Caribbean students Halloween party in North-America

I'm 21M away from Jamaica and I'm using this opportunity to FINALLY bruk out and try new thing.. I grew up in a ridiculously highly religious environment and I've thankfully escaped religion. Anyway. What to expect at such party of this nature?

I know North-American Halloween parties are associated with women dressing provocatively and I know Caribbean parties are known for whining etc. but in recent years I've seen online videos of women complaining about men who wanna whine. So I'm confused, idk what to expect at this party..

Shit should I just read the room?

Also I was thinking of getting this anime-inspired costume but idk if that's doing too much

Citizenship & Immigration Moving back to Jamaica

I’m moving back to Jamaica after six years in the UK , I came here when I was 17 and not once have I enjoyed it, I developed anxiety suddenly and it kept getting worse I’m from st Elizabeth so I didn’t even know the word anxiety or what it was the symptoms just started when I arrived in the UK and tbh ever since 2020 nothing kept getting better, I even ended marrying some Burmese man at 20 and the man give me bun and all sort of problems, my point is that my life in the UK has been terrible and looking at the work life, the weather and overall how the people are I don’t understand how the Jamaicans who move here manage to spend so long here? This country makes me so depressed I felt like the past 6 years of my life has been wasted.

After my mental health got so bad my mom finally realised the UK is not for me and said I should come back and I’m going back next month and hopefully never returning.
