Thing I hate wheelchairs in fantasy

Thumbnail
gallery
11.7k Upvotes

You're telling me you have infinite possibilities, and you want nonfunctioning legs and a chair with wheels in a world where there's 0 asphalt and other smooth stone roads around?

And as for the second one. Guns on a wheelchair? You know what else has wheels and guns? A fucking tank. You could have had a fucking personal tank, but you chose a wheelchair? The vehicle equivalent of the fucking bikini armor? As a tank you'd have defensive capabilities too, which would be important BECAUSE GUNS NOW EXIST.

In a fantasy setting, we can literally be whatever we want. Rogues are extra stealthy, fighters are extra strong etc. But a wheelchair doesn't come with any goddamn upsides. Even other disabilities turn their downsides into upsides, like blindness (toph & lee sin having tremoursense etc)

The last 2 are "wheelchairs" done right in fantasy. Cool as fuck spider legs or literally a drone platform. I know, this is more technologically enhanced stuff than magic, but you can imagine magical ways of being able to fucking walk. Hell, flight is so fucking common in fantasy, why don't you just fly around instead?

And for those arguing its a sense of identity: how come nobody is fucking obese then?

EDIT: I also forgot about mounts and chariots. You could literally just attach yourselves on or at the engines of that time (animals like horses or oversized dogs) and be a cool knight or like an ancient egypt/rome chariot warrior but no. You gotta be a dude in a chair with wheels that get you nowhere because there are literally no paved roads anywhere.

Thing I hate it when characters look like that.

Lately, I've been seeing this shit on Pinterest all the time. No way someone draws something like this and thinks "I made a good ahh design! People gonna love it!"

I find it quite fatphobic, even, cuz NO, chubby people aint look like that. No one naturally does 😭

edit: I'm NOT saying that you can't draw like that or that it's not curvy or that its not sexy or whatever ! The point of the post is that it pisses me off when the authors of such characters call them "chubby" when they're clearly not.

Thing I hate it when people compare others to little kids if they don't like a food

Post image
6.3k Upvotes

"Childish", "child's palate", "diet of a toddler" SHUT UP.

People have these crazy things called preferences, not everybody likes everything. Not everybody has to like everything. Calling people little kids for not liking something is infinitely more childish than just not liking something. Not liking some stuff is a basic ass thing that comes with the ability to taste. Some people's dislikes are more numerous or more common things, womp womp, people are different. Some people happen to also prefer simple foods. Let them. Genuinely, it does not affect others if somebody happens to be have preferences or even be picky, so what's the deal with some folks feeling the need to insult them over it? It's stupid as hell.

Only case I can understand is I guess if it's somebody who's making their pickiness a huge deal and personality trait or hijacking other people's plans around it, but that's an issue of the person themselves being a jerk, not because they're picky.

Also depending on situation the comparison can ngl be ableist, neurodivergent people are well known to commonly be picky about tastes and textures. Hope I don't need to explain why comparing their common dietary preferences to goddamn children is an L move

Tldr: comparing people to toddlers over not liking something is annoying af

Thing I hate Fahrenheit

Post image
5.6k Upvotes

"but it makes more sense!" ah yes. 32 degrees. how chilly. "Fahrenheit is how it feels! celsius is the percent hot it is!" You're just overcomplicating celsius to make fahrenheit look better. I genuinely cannot understand how fahrenheit is somehow better than celsius for any other reason than "I'm more used to it"

edit: I don't mean any ill will to fahrenheit users, I just think the very system itself doesnt make any sense

Thing I hate that mechanical web shooters are the canon choice in most versions of spider-man

Post image
10.4k Upvotes

Look.

I know thats what spider-man had when he was created.

I know its to show peter's inteligence.

I know all of that , and i still don't like It, because lemme break It down for you: You can understand something and still don't like It.

I just think it's way cooler for spider-man to actually be able to shoot webs , because otherwise he could be literally any other type of bug.

Take away the shooters and he could be ant-man , or beetle-man.

Thats why im so happy they have spidey organic webs in brand new day , they will always be better than shooters in ALMOST everything.

And don't try to talk to me about web constructs because he barely ever uses that anymore.

Edited to add that they should really go with mixing both up, organic webs are there but since they are hard to control he makes mechanic shooters to regulate them/form constructs.

How in the everliving hell do you expect someone to understand random characters mushed together that substitute for actual legible characters. No, typing quirks AREN'T cute and I sure ass hell know they aren't DISORDERS either so stop calling people ABLEIST for wanting you to type like a fucking HUMAN being. It's fine in context of characters (For example, Spamton, SOME Homestuck trolls etc..) to give them more personality but as a human saying "|}{2@#}@##@" DOES NOT COUNT AS A COMPREHENSIBLE SENTENCE.

Thing When people sag their pants đŸ«©

Post image
9.1k Upvotes

Y'know, as much as I don't want to criticize what people wear because it's usually not my problem and have other things to worry about, THIS, THIS I HATE.

THIS, in ANY shape or from DOES not look good. Because, doesn't it feel embarrassing when your underwear shows if your shirt decides to ride up your body? Like, I get some people HAVE to do this, but if you have the choice to NOT do this, then why do it?

Like, it looks so fucking trashy, how do you not lose your dignity when your underwear shows?

Edit - idk why there's so many people saying "why are they white?" I literally just got the first picture I saw on the Internet, I literally have no other agenda besides saying that saggy pants look like shit. (It's acceptable when you cover it up with a shirt or hoodie) But that about it đŸ«©

Thing i HATE when people equate larping cosplays to wearing band shirts

Post image
7.9k Upvotes

i made a post the other day questioning the morality of cosplaying characters you arent a fan of, aka morality of larping. and i get a lot of comments of people saying "its the same as wearing a shirt of a band you dont listen to/know of" and it PISSES ME OFF BECAUSE ITS NOT THE SAME!

simple reason, really. cosplaying a character requires you to spend a lot of money on materials to make the costume yourself, so not even knowing at least 1 miku song after going through the pain of making a costume of her is a severe case of larping. while wearing a band shirt just needs you to find and buy one at a thrift store, and people wear band shirts the same reason they wear any other shirt, which is to have something to wear, SO ITS NOT THE SAME THING!!!

for all the grandpas and grandmas, "larping" in this context means posing

also yes, cosplaying as characters you dont engage with their media on is VERY VERY VERY VERYYYYYY IMMORAL!!!!!!!!

to the new commenters, the part where i said its immoral to larp cosplays is sarcasm

Thing I hate “upgraded” Pride flags.

Post image
18.8k Upvotes

The entire point of the rainbow pride flag is that it includes everyone in the LGBTQ+ community. By adding parts from other specific flags (like the trans flag, intersex etc.) they’re being less inclusive by including some over others. The OG rainbow flag was literally perfect. What is this.

Edit: This post is NOT made with the intention of spreading any sort of hate of the LGBTQ community. Homophobes can fuck off.

Thing Restaurants using AI

Post image
14.3k Upvotes

If you're in a city nowadays, you're going to see OpenAI's trypophobic nightmare machine generating art in restaurants, food trucks, everywhere really. As someone who's really sensitive to this stuff, seeing it irl makes me feel like maggots are crawling in my skin. It makes you wonder if the ability to detect the uncanny is just not present in most people.

This actual artist is madelinehorwath on insta.

Thing People acting like we are on the medieval age and everyone needs to have 8 kids

Post image
14.9k Upvotes

The person i stole this from censored the name so i don't have to.

The post is pretty straight forward.

Wether its against gay people , trans people , aroace people , or fuck just anyone who chooses to not have children they use the same fuckass arguments.

"Who's gonna take care of you when you when you are older"

That being a motivation for kids sound kinda selfish.

"Don't you want to continue your bloodline"

People have died and their bloodlines have been ended with them millions of times its gonna be ok.

"But the population"

Bitch we are closer to being too many than we are to being too few.

Call It virtue signaling or whatever the fuck you want feel free to do It.

Edit: forgot to add this but a comment reminded me to , Happy pride month

Thing I hate the notion that lonely men are just "evil incels"

Post image
11.2k Upvotes

I swear to god every time i open TikTok, i lose faith in humanity, this has to be top 10 stupidest arguments of all time, the idea that loney men are all just women hating mysogynistic freaks who doesn't deserve love, care or affection, it's on the same boat as "if you're homeless just buy a house" loney men offen face discrimination, and suffer mentally by anxiety, or other disorders, they might be physically fragile, or they might be not that good socially or don't fit in much with the crowd, trust me I used to get also people not being so nice to me back in school and trust me I tried to be as act like them but at the end of the day I'm me, and i found people online who share my ideas, some people can be positively impacting like mine, but I've seen some men go to forums where unfortunately they find people who are bad influence in ideology, incel means involuntarily celibate, not "woman hating chud", and they are involuntarily celibate not them choosing to be virgins, and trust me most of these men who are talking shit about women online, probably had bad experience with women or they have never had a women talk to them in their life which definitely influences their behaviour, be kind, use critical thinking, have a good day, if I'm wrong correct me.

Thing I genuinely hate what the internet did to this poor thing.

Post image
7.7k Upvotes

She was supposed to be scary. An anomaly that was actually meant to terrify people.

Her concept is literally a malicious app that, once you enter and interact with it, unleashes a vicious, monstrous creature that starts hunting you.

That's fucking terrifying on so many levels. It's a simple concept, but an incredibly effective one for horror: something that looks harmless on your phone suddenly becomes a supernatural threat that relentlessly pursues you.

But no. The internet looked at an entity that was supposed to be terrifying and decided to turn her into an infinite fetish object instead.

And the worst part is that her original concept was genuinely interesting. A malicious app, a monstrous creature, and a supernatural pursuit that you can't simply escape from.

But she was sexualized to such an absurd degree that nowadays it's practically impossible to take her seriously as a horror entity.

I hate this

Thing I HATE my brain for disliking lgbtq

Post image
5.6k Upvotes

This might sound SO confusing for anyone just passing by and glancing at my post, so let me set some baselines. (TLDR at bottom)

I dont hate MYSELF

This is only happening on social media and is only kept in my subconsious, i would never say any of these things to anyone i meet.

Im trying to fix this problem

So recently ive noticed whenever i see media containing a OC, flag, pronouns, someone depressed, gay media etc. My brain doesnt react with a positive emotion such as interest, happines, curiosity. It instead often reacts with dissapointment and disgust. And im like ''what the fuck? Why did i think of that?'' As an example i saw a post where a persons bio had more than 10+ lgbtq flags in it and my brain immediately thought ''this guy got 50 flags in his bio, weird'' or when i saw a yt-short of a Nonbinary trans person with the name ''Sulfur'' and AGAIN i thought ''Sulfur? why couldnt SHE have chosen a normal name'' also MESSING up their pronouns?! like what the fuck man? Cant you just be normal?

And guess what! My brain is normal IRL!? I have a cousin who is currently transitioning, and i was curious and interested so i asked her brother about how long she has thought about this, when shes going to change her name, when will she get hrt. And while talking with him i asked about his personal life, hes found a partner, who is nonbinary! AND MY BRAIN DIDNT REACT!

So im going to solve this in 2 ways at the same time. Im going to block any lgbtq supportive/nonsupportive subreddit, anytime i see anyone talking about how they are trans or with any part of lgbtq im just going to scroll past, any youtube channel that often talks about lgbtq is most likely getting blocked. And im also going to spend less time on social media and instead just play games with friends.

And all of this is because im scared that if my brain continues to act this way while scrolling social media that its going to start rubbing off in real life when talking to friends and family. AND I DONT WANT THAT! i still want to be accepting but everytime i go onto social media i look at posts with dissapointment instead of feeling happy for them because they are happy.

I dont know what else to do except avoid the problem until its resolved.

TLDR: Im blocking lgbtq subreddits/channels because my brain reacts negative towards any sort of mention associated with lgbtq in order to still be loving and accepting in real life.

EDIT: well this got popular very fast, honestly i was not expecting this big of a response to my 3 am rant about my intrusive thoughts.

Thing I hate the broccoli hair cut

Post image
4.8k Upvotes

This is genuinely the most dogshit mainstream haircut possibly in history. It puts what people were doing in prior decades to shame. It looks TERRIBLE. Who willingly does this to their head? I don't care if it's "good for curly hair" please choose ANY other style. Our generation's kids are going to see old photos of us and laugh...

Thing I hate this stupid image

Post image
5.0k Upvotes

Sure the initial way it was used was good, it was anti bigotry. But it's turned into a way to simplify the "us vs them" mentality, which is already a bad thing, into a simple digestible comic.

Also, i've seen it in lots of queer--majority spaces in reddit recently, usually to speak out against the evil cishet people who are invading them or whatever label they dont like, like bi ppl, trans men, or genderfluid ppl

Thing I HATE biblically accurate angels

Thumbnail
gallery
7.3k Upvotes

If you don't know, when people say "biblically accurate angels" they're usually talking about these things, known as ophanim, which have the appearance of a bunch of wheels within wheels covered in eyes, usually said as a sort of "shocking fun fact".

And this would be fine IF these were actually angels AT ALL.

You see, the ophanim are mentioned ONCE in ezekiel, and they aren't referred to as angels at ANY point, nor are they implied to be some sort of true form of all angels.

As a matter of fact, the ophanim are actually described as LITERAL WHEELS on god's chariot, not figuratively, they're ACTUALLY wheels, they're not even CLOSE to being angels!

Even IF they were angels, it would still be incorrect to call them biblically accurate angels, as they would only be ONE of the many types of angels that exist in the bible, most of which look like humans or at least resemble them.

It's ironic because almost no one actually knows the stories from ezekiel, and yet somehow everyone seems to think a single type of celestial being mentioned ONCE represents the true form of every single angel ever.

I'm not even christian and it still pisses me off so much when people say the words "biblically accurate angel", it isn't even correct in the broadest sense because, again, THEY'RE NOT EVEN REFERRED TO AS ANGELS!! NOT EVEN ONCE!!!

Edit: When i say they aren't called "angels" at any point i am referring to the original biblical text, not to any other texts that might consider them as angels.

Thing I hate this meme

Post image
5.2k Upvotes

I mostly see it in contexts like for example: a cat video and everyone’s calling it cute! People clarify the video is Ai and this image is used by those people from before.

But that’s the problem, that wasn’t a cat you saw, it wasn’t even an animation done by a human’s perception and love of cats, it was AI.

Idk man

Edit: I want to clarify I’m mainly talking about Ai use in things that show the human soul, like an act of kindness or art, I am not against, in fact, I support it being used for discoveries and practical use where it matters like healthcare

Thing Phone Wars and acting like Android users were the ones hating

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

4.5k Upvotes

Yes this is a fucking AI bear dancing video I saw on tiktok

And yes I have a Samsung, stfu

As soon as the duo started getting heat for its issues these posts are popping up, and now Apple users are acting like Android users were the ones being annoying, and instantly start flocking to "Well our 2k phone breaks easily, but you're is a Samsung so HA"

Aint never heard of someone getting made fun of for having an IPhone

  1. This is so pointless, because an Apple phone gets in hot water a bunch of Apple users flock to complaining about Samsung and others

  2. Istg this phone wars thing is one sided

Yall will probably say im contradicting the title, but let's be real. BOTH are perfectly fucking fine to have

Isn't stepping on a flag supposed to be rude? Usually when you step on a country's flag, you hate everything about that country, no? Pride flag billboards do a much better job at being inclusive, crosswalks seem disrespectful and kinda bigoted.

Thing I hate these type of tattoos.

5.4k Upvotes

The messages are something i can get behind but c'mon now. Tattooing the words and symbols like faggot, fascist, pedophile, swastika on your own skin somewhat permanently is crazy work.

What if i'm passing by and see your tattoo in weird angle which makes only some of the words/symbols visible. What if when your tattoo starts to fade away and only easily-readable words/symbols are the ones you were trying to condemn. What if i don't want to sit and look at your thigh, calf, chest or idk. forearm for 5-6 seconds to understand the message you're trying to convey.

Don't make hasty decisions y'all.

Thing i do not enjoy the DESIGN of the 2021 pride flag

Post image
4.0k Upvotes

I feel like I'm walking on eggshells here,

I'm bisexual, love the LGTBQ, I am purely talking about the flag from a design standpoint. There is no metaphor here, no underlying implications, I'm just talking about how it LOOKS.

I really like the 2018 one, the triangle on the left works well and the color combination and visual design is very aesthetically pleasing.

The issue I have with the 2021 is the purple circle. The flag is all stripes and the circle just doesn't really work in that context. It's also too thin, the actual intersex flag has a much thicker circle, and this one has a thinner one which looks weird compared to the thick stripes. Yellow next to the white pink and blue is also not a very good color combo.

Please don't ban me guys there is no hate to any group of people here

Thing I hate this image

Post image
5.6k Upvotes

This image sucks for many reasons but I’ll just list them all pretty quickly

  1. Guy who made it is kinda annoying and constantly reposts it all the time
  2. It’s one of those “they’re women so no hate they get is valid because it’s just sexism” things, pretty obvious especially with pizzacake being there
  3. Genuinely terrible examples, Jaiden is pretty much the only valid one. Pizzacake gets hated for many things and has pretty much never brought up religion, besides pizzacake deserves her hate she’s an asshole. Vivzie is also disliked for reasons other than gender/sex like poor writing and being arrogant. The men are possibly the worst examples to use for “men who get off completely free” like Matt and Trey above literally got death threats from terrorist groups and were stalked by Scientology. They have it worse than the three girls combined.
  4. Whole post is a goomba fallacy. OP likely doesn’t see that the people hating the girls are completely different from the ones who support the guys.
  5. All the creators have completely different audiences and levels of fame. The men at the top are high profile and don’t have a specific “comment section” to get shat on for, while the girls careers are BUILT on their internet presence and so have a lot easily ways to poke fun at. It’s just weird they’re comparing a small Reddit comic artist to fucking Seth McFarland
  6. Majority of the girls were hated by specific religious minorities who didn’t like her, and weren’t hated by the majority. In contrast the guys up top have a lot more split and diverse opinions rather than just “everyone like them”
