Found this
As ridiculous as it sounds, i found this cleaning out a very large, and very old safe. My grandmother was an avid collector. What is it?
Question Could this be gold and what are the black marks on the back?
It is not marked or signed anywhere. I believe this to be antique, as it is very similar to other designs onlind but I can't find this specific one anywhere. This was found within a mixed collection of pins.
I'd assume the two darker metal spots on the back and side are some sort of weld? Does that mean everything under the gold is that color, or could it be gold and they weld with a different material? I see no sort of oxidation or color wearing off anywhere.
Thank you to anyone that can help.

Question My detail-obsessed big brother tracks everything but has never looked into gold. Why?
For framing, I was 21 for about 20 years, and then I turned 42 overnight. My older brother bests me by 2 years. Our friends are about the same age and doing well as working professionals in different career paths: real estate, finance, medicine, biotech, consulting. At the dinner table, stocks come up constantly. Bitcoin comes up a lot. Even sports cards get airtime. Gold almost never does.
What got me thinking deeper on the topic was my older brother. He’s a consultant, very detail-oriented, and very much the big brother who gives his advice whether asked or not. In this case I asked him about gold and his answer surprised me. He manages half of his portfolio himself and has a financial advisor running the other half. “No physical gold on my end, but it’s possible he does for me.”
So here’s a guy who tracks everything, yet he clearly hasn’t looked into physical gold. It’s not that gold loses the argument at our tables. It never gets invited to the conversation.
I’m done rambling and can sum it up in one word: Why?

Question Do my Krugerrands contain less than 1 oz of pure gold due to their weights?
I recently purchased (UK Chards) four 1 oz Krugerrands for the first time and weighed them individually:
1974: 33.89 g
1975: 33.91 g
1975: 33.87 g
1981: 33.94 g
I understand that a standard Krugerrand weighs approximately 33.93 g and contains 1 troy oz (31.1035 g) of 24 k gold.
My questions:
Are these weight differences normal, particularly for older Krugerrands?
Does weighing less than 33.93 g mean they contain less than 1 oz of pure gold?
Is there an acceptable weight tolerance for Krugerrands from these years?
My main concern is whether each coin actually contains the full 1 troy oz of pure gold that I paid for.

Genuine Question
For those who are serious. What are we doing with bullion? Some of us have over 3 oz’s , some got 500 oz’s… some might be sleeping on mattresses of gold… Jesus bless everyone with gold 🙏❤️
Do we eventually just hand it over to kids? Exchange it for a private island? Get 1000 dinner sets from Costco?
What are your wild dreams?

Question Etf vs physical vs digital gold
Can someone please explain me what's a better buy among etf vs digital vs physical gold?
I don't understand why people prefer physical gold despite having making charge and also gst(a form of tax).
And the Digital gold has gst as well.
Comments open for debate.
Thrifted some GOLD
Heart pendant is silver but who cares, also came on a silver chain.
Spent $70 on the gold both from different thrift shops, not bad for roughly 6 grams of 14k.
I really like the ring. I wore it on my pinky after I found it and I got a compliment. I will gift it to my wife in this years Boo Basket.
