Gloucestershire GP websites down across the county

• Upvotes

The company behind hosting websites for several Gloucestershire GPs has gone into administration, making basic information and forms unreachable. The websites were taken down with immediate effect and without any warning to the affected surgeries.

As seen on the Newent GP Facebook page yesterday:

We received information late on Friday 24th October, that the company who run GP websites across Gloucestershire, has gone into administration. We have recently been notified that all websites, including ours has been taken down completely with immediate effect. This means that the practice and our patients no longer have access to online services through our website, including our online contact forms.

We understand that NHS England and Gloucestershire ICB are working to help us identify alternative website providers, so that we can get back on online as soon as possible.

Gloucestershire Airport has no regular commercial passenger flights to or from the airport. Yet despite its tiny size, it does have a very lively pub, and investigate that.

Gloucester Broadband help

Is there a broadband provider in Gloucester that offers symmetrical upload and download speeds?

I’ve been with Virgin Media since the original Telewest days, but after years of mid-contract price increases, poor customer service, a lack of customer loyalty, frequent dropouts and ongoing intermittent issues in my area, I’m seriously considering switching.

Unfortunately, most alternative providers don’t seem to be available at my address, leaving Openreach as the main alternative. However, some recent things I’ve heard about them have made me hesitant to make the switch.

Has anyone in Gloucester found a reliable provider offering symmetrical broadband speeds, and can recommend one based on their own experience?

EXCITING NEWS!

I'm DELIGHTED to announce my next workshop, where we will be creating this beautiful mistletoe to add a lovely handmade touch to your Christmas decorations, that will last for many years to come!

I've booked the most beautiful, cosy venue, at Stroud Valley Scouts Coach House. The building is immaculate, having been recently completely renovated, and the skylights make the room really bright and airy, so the lighting is perfect for crafting.

Please like, comment and share, to spread the word... and message me to book your place, and for further information.

As always, I will have packs available to buy to make further mistletoe sprigs at home, that you can give as presents, or to gift a pack to loved ones (along with your time, while you make them together!)

Maximum of 14 spaces, so book early to guarantee your space(s)!

Gloucester Looking for some Japanese friends in Gloucester?

Hello there. I’m trying my hand at learning to read and write in Japanese. Maybe eventually speak it one day too! I was wondering if there are some local Japanese people in Gloucester that would like to be friends? I’m a 33 years old, lover of manga/anime and wildlife.

I’m a huge fan of Japanese culture, so it would be great to form some new friendships and deepen my love for Japan altogether 🤗

Tewkesbury The Ruins of Tewksbury's Abandoned Railway Station

Up until 1961, Tewksbury had its own train station on a now-defunct branch line up to Upton-upon-Severn. Only half a mile from the town centre, now behind the town's big Morrisons superstore, you can visit the location where you can see/walk on the old platforms and signal box. Given they've been disused for sixty years now, they've succumbed to nature, with trees growing out of the platforms, but it's still apparent what was once there. I took a trip to the place of this former station and delved into its history.

The Forest Lydney

I was looking at some older threads and saw that taxis were really hard to get in Lydney. Has anything gotten better or do you still need to call well in advance? Also, are there any options for going from the train station to the town centre at night (other than walking), if one doesn't have a car?

Hi Bristol. So many people told me I should come play in your city. Well I am for first time alongside a stellar line-up. Join us at the old England pub for a mid week acoustic special. Last call for tickets as the gig is tomorrow. I will also be raising money for the music venue trust as every £1 from album/merch sales goes to support the vital work they do

Cheltenham The History of The Honeybourne Line & Cheltenham

Cheltenham Spa once had nearly double-digit railway stations, but now has only one, with many of these on the Honeybourne Line, which ran from Gloucestershire to Worcestershire. I dove into the history of this former GWR line as it relates to Cheltenham, taking trips to the sites of the now-abandoned stations and the heritage railway which runs through some of the stations that weren't demolished.

Gloucester A40 Roadworks

I had the pleasure of a drive out to the Forest this afternoon (Saturday at 2pm), the traffic on the A48 was as far back as the Apple Tree at Minsterworth. Fortunately when I came back it started to queue at the railway bridge near to the Highnam roundabout.

I had seriously considered coming home via Chepstow.

Sympathies to anyone who has to put up with that nonsense every day.
