Each of the Joui 4 wore a specific color during the war. However, only Gintoki and Takasugi have kept their original colors. Gintoki still wears white/silver, while Takasugi’s outfit, consisting of black, purple, and gold, is similar to what he wears now.

Katsura, on the other hand, wore green during the war but now wears primarily blue. Sakamoto wore blue, but his attire is now predominantly red. Why did they change their colors, while Gintoki and Takasugi kept theirs?

I’ll never forgive SJ for discontinuing the English translations. I had to set up a new mini bookshelf for my other manga to make space for the full Gintama manga shelf (just need volume 15 and 22 in English on sale from my local bookstore)! I’ll start hand writing the translations in the Japanese set. Really want SA and FS in my physical collection so I’ll do what I have to in order to make that happen.

How can a title only have so much differents meanings?

Gin - Tama : The soul of Gin, or the silver soul also refering to gintoki and all the people he helped and tinted their soul in silver making them shine like stars and surpass their voids

Gintoki - Tama : since the story starts with Gintoki and ends with tama's perspective

Silver ball : Tama could also refer to a ball, which refers to the silver sun (Gintoki), but what's also silver in the sky is the moon (Takasugi)

Just saw u/arukardooo 's post about starting a translation of Gintoki vs Hijikata, and thought the timing was pretty funny since I recently finished translating Yorozuya Daisoudou for my girlfriend lol

It's still a bit rough and could use some polishing, but pretty much the entire game is translated, including dialogue, menus, signs and everything else.

I also noticed he mentioned being worried about copyright, which I can definitely relate to since that's actually one of the reasons I've been hesitant to share mine publicly. I've been thinking about releasing a patch on GitHub or somewhere similar, but I'm still not entirely sure so if anyone has experience with this stuff or knows a safe way to distribute fan translations, I'd really appreciate some advice. It started as a little project just for her but it'd be really nice if other people could enjoy it too!

I drew both for Inktober. The manga redraw's prompt is "Dumb" (Idk when I read the prompt, this is what appeared in my mind 🤣).

Any anime character with one of those odd ahoge (cowlicks) on their head can manipulate its shape. Sometimes, it even changes based on the character’s emotions: it might turn into a heart or a question mark, wag around like a dog’s tail, Saber from Fate even used hers as a weapon once, and so on.

Kamui’s ahoge is capable of this, too. We just haven’t seen it happen because he’s an antagonist. But if he ever appears in a comedic setting again, his ahoge will definitely change shape.

My friend is a HUGE kagura fan and also kinda into gyaru culture so I tried to sprinkle some gyaru into kagura's design!!!

I JUST FINISHED EP 188. I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON SCHOOL ASSIGNMENTS. "I BET ON LOSING DOGS" STARTS PLAYING ON MY PLAYLIST. WHY AM I IMAGINING MADAO WHILE THE SONG PLAYS? WHAT THE HELL? WHY AM I CRYING? WHY THE HELL CAN'T THIS MAN GET A BREAK?

I was laughing the entire time cuz what are the chances??? 😂 Out of all the characters available, I happened to pick Hasegawa the goat! My luck sure works in the strangest way possible.

Housen was Kamui’s master, though Kamui eventually surpassed him. Yet, it doesn’t really seem as if Housen taught Kamui anything specific. It’s more like Kamui would simply lash out at Housen, and Housen would parry the blows, but does that even count as training?

Training implies that someone is teaching you something. If Housen is merely deflecting strikes, that doesn’t qualify as training. It’s more likely that Kamui taught himself, or perhaps Abuto showed him a few techniques. Housen essentially served as an opponent whom Kamui could attack without restraint; he doesn’t come across as someone who would actually instruct Kamui.

I let the internet influence me and created this meme myself, shame on me! I might also be way too late to the trend. I’m not even sure if everything is accurate.

For Adam and Eve, I could have used Otose & Tatsugorou or Maizou & Suzuran, but Umibouzo & Kouka felt like the most significant pairing, especially considering Umibouzo’s later role. Besides, Adam and Eve are the parents of Cain and Abel, which maps well to Kamui and Kagura. I could have used the Murata siblings, but Kamui and Kagura are the most prominent siblings in the series, given the conflict between them.

For Lucifer, I chose the series' main antagonist; Utsuro fit the bill perfectly, even though there were other strong candidates.

For Judas, I had to decide between Oboro and Takasugi. Oboro betrayed Shoyo, while Takasugi betrayed his fellow Joui rebels (if I recall correctly). I felt that Oboro’s betrayal of Shoyo was the more egregious one.

But if Shoyo is Jesus, who is the mother? I cast Gintoki as the "daughter" (I couldn't find a version using "son"), as he is the protagonist. Shoyo couldn't very well fill both the role of Jesus and the mother. I could have used Kagura as the daughter and Gintoki as the mother, but Kagura was already cast as Abel. So, I chose Otose as the mother, given that she serves as a maternal figure to many other characters in the series.

The "Holy Spirit" could have been many things, bushido, comedy, or Gintoki’s past. But the Yorozuya are, ultimately, the most important element; together, they symbolize what the series stands for.

For the "Twelve Apostles," I chose those closest to Gintoki: his friends from the Joui War, the Shimura siblings, the four key women who always support him, and the Shinsengumi trio. Kagura is also very important, but I had already included her in the "Cain & Abel" category, plus, I needed space for other characters.

I hope this all makes sense, for the most part.

Hi! I'm midway through gintama and I want to have the movies ready to watch, as I heard the anime ends as a movie rather than standard episodes, but I can't find a way to watch it legally in the UK?

I've watched a shit ton of stupid zany animes but NONE of them make me laugh this hard. This anime is absolutely amazing!

Assuming Gintoki actually managed to find someone and get married, where would he live?

1. His partner moves into the Yorozuya apartment to live with Gintoki and Kagura.

2. Gintoki moves out of the Yorozuya and into his partner’s home.

But then there’s the question of Kagura, what happens to her? She’s 14 or 16 at the time (at least by the end of the series). Would Gintoki take her with him if he moved out? She can’t exactly live on her own.

Would Gintoki bring Kagura along to his new place until she’s old enough to live independently? Or would he move out, leaving Kagura to live alone in the Yorozuya apartment (which would presumably still be used as a workspace)? In that case, she might as well just find a new place to live.

This is a trio that exists somewhere between adulthood and childhood.

Kamui can technically cook, as he took care of the household when he was a child.

Sougo likely learned to cook from Kondo or someone similar. I’m not sure if Sougo lives alone or in official quarters, but he must have some cooking skills.

And Otae cooks "dark matter."

I really love the ORIGINAL designs in the ending song as well. Sorachi is really a genius for this . . .

I started Gintama a little bit ago, and I just finished episode 105. I am a little scared of getting burnt out, so I was thinking of watching through Yoshiwara In Flames arc then taking a break before continuing.
