98 percentile baby. He was born 9 and 8oz. 22 inches long.
Drs say hes a healthy boy. But i fear he might be a little too chunky or overweight per say. He is formula fed (kendamil) drinks about 20-24 oz a day.

Advice / Question 💡 How many oz does your 6 month old drink?

Hi!! 🩷 FTM, my LO is 6 months and we’ve now moved to 100% formula after an insane bout of mastitis. We’ve been giving her Kendamil; she’s used to it as we introduced a bottle here and there pretty often since she turned 3 months old. I wanted to make sure we had a formula for when I weaned. Ever since going 100% formula the other day our LO has been eating wayyy less in terms of ounces. Is this normal? (For context we did a very slow wean, so she’s gradually had 1 bottle, then 2, then 3. When my mastitis hit she did have to jump to 100%).

Typically with bm and combo feeding we’d see her hit 26-30 oz. Now with formula we’re struggling to even hit 24. I really don’t think she dislikes the formula but I’m wondering if the volume is just a lot for her as it may be thicker / more filling than breastmilk? But lately feeds have become a struggle and I wonder if I just need to stop worrying because she’ll be fine on 20-24 oz of formula as opposed to 26+?

For context we have started solids but purées only and LO hasn’t been super interested most days. I often get her to take a frozen feeder stuffed with something a few times a week but that’s it.

Thanks in advance!

Gas 💨 Trapped Wind at Night

Looking for advice on remedies for trapped gas at night. My girls (4 months) wake up crying/screaming in pain due to trapped wind and nothing weve tried seems to make a difference.

We have already tried bicycle kicks/tummy time during day and night, lots of tummy time and infacol. I've also panic bought some probiotic drops.

During the day we don't have any issues and they aren't constipated. We do use infant gaviscon for reflux (unsure if this is contributing). They seem to be in a lot of pain so getting pretty desperate. Anyone experienced anything similar? What worked for you?

CMPA / CMPI / MSPI Neocate Discounts?

Hi all! Our 5.5 month old was just moved to NEOCATE by the GI and unfortunately our insurance doesn’t cover any formula for our son :( we are in Florida and also don’t qualify for WIC or Medicaid. Any tips on getting discounted Neocate or if anyone has any extras? The doctor gives us 2 every 2 months which is better than nothing but this formula is so expensive! $50 every 3 days. Thanks so much!!!

Advice / Question 💡 5.5-month-old suddenly cut formula intake by half. Worried about dehydration, but doctor just said "demand feed." Help?

My 5.5-month-old daughter is exclusively formula-fed. Up until two days ago, she consistently drank 90 ml every 2 hours. Suddenly, she refuses to take more than 60 ml at a time.

If I strictly follow her cues and "demand feed" like our pediatrician suggested, she will end up drinking only about 200–300 ml in a whole 24-hour period. I am incredibly anxious that she is going to get dehydrated.

She doesn't seem to be crying in pain during feeds; she just flat-out stops or turns away after 60 ml.

Has anyone experienced a sudden drop like this around the 5–6 month mark?

Formula Recommendations / Alternatives 🌱 Any formula recommendations for rejecting Bobbie

My 6 month old baby has been breastfeed up to now and has taken occassional pumped bottles well. I'm trying to get her to take formula and have been mixing in 1-2 oz of Bobbie with her bottle over the past couple weeks. Last week we first did 1/3 Bobbie and 2/3 BM and she was fussy about it but took it. The next day tried 1/2 BM and 1/2 Bobbie and she flat out rejected it. It seems like the taste/smell to me.

I'm wondering if its the Bobbie and if there's one that babies like more that we should try. Any recs?

CMPA / CMPI / MSPI Experiences with Nutramigen/Hypoallergenic Formulas & Reflux Meducation

I’m hoping to hear from others on their experience with hypoallergenic formulas. (Sorry this is kind of long)

To start from the beginning, I am an older FTM, who is anxious about everything (I am already seeking care for this). my son was born premature at 35+2 weeks and is 11 weeks as of yesterday. Tried to BF/triple feed in the hospital and very quickly figured out that wasn’t going to work for me. The hospital gave us Enfamil NeuroPro EnfaCare (high-calorie) formula. Overall my son seemed to be taking it fine. But, he was just gassy all the time and only had one BM every 24 to 36 hours. He never really fussed or arched his back while eating. But other than that, he would cry/scream like he was in pain for what felt like more hours in the day than not. It was not like colic/purple crying because this would last all day. And he did not spit up much, but when he did it was a decent amount of time after eating, or he would randomly start chewing like he spit up in his mouth but nothing came out.

At his 2 month appointment I brought up my concerns to his pediatrician, she suspected maybe silent reflux and even though there was no obvious blood or mucus in his stool, she wanted to check for CMPA/CMPI. When we were finally able to bring a diaper to be checked, microscopic particles of blood were found in his stool, so she said to start either Nutramigen or Alimentum. We chose the Nutramigen because we were already using Enfamil products and we also started Famotidine (2x/day) for the the reflux.

The first day he was on everything, he was perfect, we thought we had solved all the problems. Then the following couple of days, he was like his pre-switch self. We’ve been on the Nutramigen and reflux medication for right at a week, and though overall we have less inconsolable screaming, he is a lot more fussy during and right after eating; sometimes he will scream like he is in excruciating pain and it is harder to get him to burp. Also, I’m not sure how much the reflux medication is actually helping. Oh, and he has this diaper rash that I’m lathering butt paste on, but has done little to slow it down; it seems like he now has a BM every time he eats.

We are going to try Target’s generic hypoallergenic formula when our current Nutramigen can is finished to see if that changes anything. If things do not get better with the Target brand, I’ll try the Alimentum next.

I’d love to hear others’ experiences with HA formulas - any brand - and if I need to follow up with our pediatrician about my concerns that so far the formula change hasn’t helped much if at all.

Thanks for any insight!

Advice / Question 💡 Enfagrow vs Nido?

Why is Nido so much cheaper than other “toddler formulas” like Enfamil Enfagrow, Similac Go and Grow, ect? Maybe I just really suck at Googling but from what I can gather it falls into the same category and is nutritionally similar. I have my 12 month old on Enfagrow right now but am considering switching to Nido.

I am aware toddler formula is unnecessary for most children and kids her age typically do fine on cows milk or another plant based alternative. I am not looking for advice on whether toddler formula is necessary, just whether Nido is nutritionally comparable to other similar products. Thank you.

Advice / Question 💡 Graduating from high cal formula

Hey all! I have three month old twins who were born about a month early. Since the NICU, they have been on Enfamil Enfacare, a high cal formula meant for transitioning preemies from the hospital to home. (I guess we are technically combination feeding with the measly 4 oz of breast milk I pump for them in a day).

At our last doctor’s appointment, we were given the okay to move off the high cal formula to regular formula. I’m thinking the regular yellow Enfamil neuropro, since I got a bunch of samples from a multiples birth program at the hospital and it’s the same brand as they are eating now.

What I’m concerned about is them not feeling as full from their feeds. During the day, they eat about 4.5oz every 3 hr and miraculously are sleeping through the night. I think it’s because they’re getting all their nutrition in during the day. We are loving their schedule and it took a long time for us to get to a good point where we all get some sleep at night.

Has anyone switched from high cal formula to regular? Were your babies hungrier overall? Were they not as satisfied before bedtime and no longer slept through the night? Did you have to feed them more volume or more frequent feeds to make up for lost calories? I want to be prepared for what I’m in for when we make the switch. TIA for your stories!

Advice / Question 💡 Pepticate vs Alimentum RTF

My baby is 3.5 months old and has been on Pepticate for almost 2 months now. Her spit up was insane so we have been thickening with Gelmix but she still has some spit up. Would a RTF formula be better for her do you think? Anyone have experience with this switch?

Advice / Question 💡 Is my baby eating enough

My 15 week old only eats 3-4 oz on average per feed and we’re lucky if he’ll eat 5 oz. He seems so content all the time but I can’t help but worry that he’s not eating enough! He averages between 22-24 oz a day. He was born small and is still small, but my first child was eating way more volume at this point. We haven’t had an appt since 8 weeks so I’m not sure if his growth is normal

Advice / Question 💡 Baby Friendly Hospital

I'm giving birth at a baby friendly hospital in a few weeks. During the hospital tour and baby care classes, it was very clear that they pushed "breast is best" and aggressively pushed new moms to BF. My MIL is a L&D nurse at a baby friendly hospital in another state and was explaining that they have to ask multiple times/pt education and do quite a bit of documentation if the mom refuses to try to BF (not sure how true this is.)

For those of you who gave birth at a hospital that really prioritized BFing, did you have a hard time getting providers to ease off and respect your wishes? I've made it clear with my Dr. and she really doesn't care as long as the baby is fed, but she did say hospital staff guidelines are different from her office and that she'll make sure that she includes a note in my chart.

Kirkland procare regular and gentle $6 off until November 1st. Also kirkland diapers on sale. Time to stock up. There is limit of 5 but i went in 4 times to get 20. There was some post about formula prices increasing due to gas prices and other economic factors so was worried it would not come back. So far the sale has been every three months or so this year.

Support Needed / Guilt Related 🧸 Tongue tie release

My son will be 6 weeks tomorrow. EFF on similac advance. Around 3 ish weeks he started struggling at the bottle. It wasn’t every bottle just mostly the one before “ bed “ and sometimes a morning or afternoon bottle. I mentioned it to his pediatrician and asked to check for a lip & tongue tie and he said he did have both but he wasn’t concerned because he was gaining weight but he said he could refer me to an ENT so he did. We had his appointment today and the ENT didn’t really listen to anything I said and checked and said he did have a mild tongue tie and we could clip so he did it right then and there and it was awful. He then showed me to stretch his tongue and basically push on the wound? Then he sent us on our way without any paperwork or a follow up appointment and I left in tears and felt really weird about the whole thing. I wish I wouldn’t said something but I was just so anxious and didn’t know what to do. Luckily he calmed pretty fast and just passed out in the car and been extra sleepy and he has taken bottles since but tonight’s been HORRIBLE. Crying nonstop and wouldn’t take a paci or bottle & now I’m freaking out. I know I should give it time but can anyone tell me if they had an experience with a tongue tie and bottle feeding and did it help your baby eat a bottle better? I should also mention his formula intake has been decreasing the past few days and he’s barely eating 21-23 oz before the procedure. He takes maybe 2.5 oz a feed. I’ve also tried Phillips avent natural response, lansinoh, tommee tippee and dr browns narrow bottles.

Advice / Question 💡 When and how to wean off formula?

My baby is about 10 months old, can’t sit, and just started growing teeth, so the transition to solids has been slow. Solids are just purées right now. Tried giving small pieces of actual solid food, but she does not chew and has only 2 barely visible stubs of teeth to work with. How do I stop cold turkey with formula in just 2 months?

Advice / Question 💡 Looking for advice on quitting and making the switch

Not sure if this is the right forum but I’m at my wits end. I’m 6 weeks pp and have been dealing with pain, engorgement and needing to wake up every 3 hours to pump. I’m done.

This has been going on and on endlessly for about 3 weeks and i can’t take much more.

I’m wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience that led them to formula feeding and how you (safely) stopped.

I was going to wait until i was completely pain free to wean but that seems hopeless.

Advice / Question 💡 Question about switching formula

Hi mommas! I’m a ftm and my LO is 8 weeks. I’m wanting some advice on switching my baby’s formula because I’m suspecting she has cmpa/reflux? When we were at the hospital, we were on rtf similac neosure and then switched to the powdered version when we went home. When my baby turned a month old, we switched her to kirkland procare gentle as it was more convenient. Ever since we’ve had her on it, she farts sooo much everyday. Her poop is usually green, like forrest-green colored. As far as spit ups, she usually spits up a bit maybe every other day and had only 2 projectile vomits in the last month. I’m suspecting she has cmpa/reflux mainly because she arches her back and grunts/seems in pain after every feed. I’ve also noticed when she does spit up, she sounds congested right after.
Any advice? We’ll be seeing her pediatrician tomorrow, but wanted some insight whether any of these symptoms are cmpa/reflux.
Thank you!🥹

Bottles / Feeding Gear / Equipment 🍼 Baby Brezza

I know this is a bit of a controversial topic on here but as a FTM I absolutely love my baby brezza, especially at night. It's been a game changer, for the first week or 2 I hand mixed bottles and at nights I was terrified I was mixing wrong but now I literally just press a button (I set it up in our bedroom). I know people have had issues but every time I've measured and weighed I've never had a problem and honestly believe the trick is regularly cleaning it. We wash all the major components once a week and clean the funnel every 4 bottles. Some people have complained that the website differs from what they need and honestly just change the settings and weigh according to your preference if you're not happy with what it's giving you. Anyways I'm just really happy and excited about my new gadget,I had terrible guilt about not BF (I tried my best but it didn't work out) and my husband got me this as a gift to help with the bottle transition. Our baby is well above his weight goals and the paed is very happy with his growth and progress so no worries there either. My mum was so impressed she was even considering getting one for her house when baby stays over lol.

If anyone else has positive experiences or just wants to share joy about it please go ahead as I'd love to hear it.
