Collection End of the Road?

Post image
46 Upvotes

I’ve been buying, selling, fixing, trading and (most importantly) using film cameras for the last 15 years.

Part of the fun of the hobby for me is the experience of trying new/different cameras.
What happens, though, when you’ve tried most and finally realize you’ve reached the end of the road and figured out your two favorite cameras?

Surely I can’t be expected to just take photographs now. Surely not?

Not pictured- Rolleiflex close up adapter set, Nikkor 28mm f2.8, 85mm f2, 105mm f2.5 and a Contax G1 w/ 45mm f2 for autofocus needs

Hello all after looking all over the internet I come to the last place I know i might get a answer. I just was gifted this camera. Before I throw film in I want to be sure I know what I'm doing. When I look through the viewfinder the imagine shown is blurry and the info displayed. Any ideas of how I can fix this?

I tried manuel mode but even playing with the ring doesnt focus it.

Help Needed Expired film, how to store and develop?

Hi everyone! I just received some Fuji Pro400H from eBay that has been freezer stored since its purchase- it expired in 2017.

I’ve never worked with expired film before but I’ve heard so many rave reviews about pro400h I had to give it a shot. I bought two rolls, I have them both in a ziplock bag in the freezer currently as I don’t know when I’ll get to use them. When should I move it to the fridge/room temp?

Is the move asking my photo lab to push it a stop in development? Or should I develop as normal since it’s been freezer stored its whole life? I have a manual ISO dial on my camera as well, is it worth setting it to a higher ISO?

Any advice is appreciated, this is my first time trying out an expired film and I’d prefer not to waste a roll figuring out the best course of action.

In searching for more of my film cameras, I came across the two slide projectors. They are in pretty good condition and still function. Can you find any slide film available anywhere? And also does anyone still process it?

Help Needed Skill issue or Camera issue?

I recently acquired a Zeiss Ikon from a flea market. I was told it was from the 50s and that it probably did not work anymore but I still went out and bought 120 film to try it anyways. This is my first film camera and I am an absolute beginner so I did my research and set it to the recommended settings for a sunny day at the best of my abilities.

Any ideas on why the pictures look like that? Could the issue be user error, incorrect exposure settings, or a mechanical problem with the camera?

Anyone shoot one of these? I started my second roll yesterday. I really love the look. Classic ‘80s styling.

EDIT: And just like that, she died. IO had just finished my second roll. Camera rewinded the film just fine. I loaded a new roll in and nothing. Swapped batteries, just in case, and still nothing. Guess I have a new shelf queen.

Help Needed Film not advancing (Mintola Capios 150s)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Not too sure what happened, latest roll of film I put in will not advance or be detected by the camera. Everything was working properly up until this roll. I've advanced the roll manually a bit more as well to see if that would help. I did just travel with it, so maybe it got damaged in my bag during a flight. Would trying another roll of film make sense, or is it most likely the camera itself? Thanks!

I just got this camera from my grandpa's inheritance, and I would like to try to get into photography. I was wondering wondering if anybody has tips:

- On how to make the best setup for this camera.

- And, how to clean it properly, as it is very dirty.

Thank you all in advance for any comment.

What do you guys carry your cameras in? I have a Cannon A1 and I’ve recently just been carrying it around in my handbag but that doesn’t seem like the best idea. What do you use?

I I've always been fascinated by the raw feel of film cameras and wanted to give them a personality of their own, but holy I was soooooo naive. Hundreds of hours deep and a LOT of money invested in the small workshop I'm starting, but at least it's finally starting to take the shape I want. It makes a great pair for the new iphone.

Help Needed Vignetting on Olympus OM-2SP? (but only sometimes)

Hi there friends!

I recently was gifted an Olympus OM-2S Program and shot a roll on a trip to see if it was still fully functional. I really enjoyed the user experience and would love to continue to use this camera but have encountered an issue of vignetting on one side but only sometimes, which is odd. I didn’t see this issue present when shooting portrait, just landscape. I’ve attached two photos from the same roll to show the comparison. The lens that came with it was a 50mm f1.8.

Anyone have any idea why this could be? Any help is appreciated!

Help Needed Looking at getting my first film camera, any suggestions?

I've played with a few SLRs and rangefinders in stores before, and I am fairly experienced with DSLR/mirrorless cameras already.

I find that rangefinders feel really fun to use, but looking online I feel like there's a million different options in the ~$50-100 range. Any suggestions (or warnings?)

Just bought a secondhand Minolta freedom zoom 105ex for fun and idk anything abt them. Opened the back film canister hood and saw this. Should it still be ok to shoot film on or will everything turn out horrible? The camera does turn on when I put batteries in but it makes a long buzzing sound when I turn it off.. don’t know what that means😅

So I don’t have film in this camera but I have a flash on it and was showing a friend how bright it was and took a “photo” it’s been working fine up until now when I when to pull back the lever thing and it has no resistance and the button is just pressed down I’ve tried multiple things to get it back up but nothings working. I also order film for it and it’s gonna be here Friday but if this doesn’t work than there’s no need for it lol. I don’t have money to take it to a camera repair place either.

Help Needed Looking for someone to fix a film camera

My dad gave me his old film camera. I’ve used it but the lever that moves the film for the next shot is not working now. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I’ve called camera shops in my area but no one here works on film cameras. I need help!

I live in Arkansas, US
It’s a Minolta x-7a

Edit: it was operator error 🫣 fortunately. Now I just need to learn how to use it! Thanks everyone for the suggestions
