Is anybody else like me who gets ideas late at night and hates turning on the no no light? (Ceiling light). I’m a huge night writer and I love my field notes with how easy it is to just pick up anywhere and write.

I decided to test a prototype I designed where it slips either on both back pages, or onto one. The lights are detachable, have easy access to batteries and are great for travelling. It’s currently half 1 and I’ve been making this for a good few hours. At least it’s perfect for me to test tonight haha!

What I love is it pops on and off. You can turn it up and down, left and right to where you want it, and it doesn’t distort the pages much for writing.

I’m loving it so far, and it definitely has me wanting to test a few different designs and adaptations. But for now, prototype v1 is a go for me!

And now I’ll go to sleep before tweeking more on the designs

Can’t wait to use them. I really liked all the ones that came in my two packs. I’ve seen some other really need ones people have posted. Would have loved to get some butterfly books so if anyone is selling lmk!

What a fun collection! My order arrived today and I’m loving how clever this is.

I love my Lochby journal but seeing leather wear over time is so satisfying.

I got my first Field Notes notebook a couple weeks ago and I think I'm addicted! I'm still figuring out how I want to format the contents but it's been fun so far. I noticed that sliding it in and out of pouches/bags daily had been wearing the binding corner so I wrapped some book tape around the bottom edge. I've been looking at covers but I kind of like how thin the notebook is by itself.

So far I'm about 14 pages into this first notebook but I've gotten these packs:

The National Park Denali pack, a Pitch Black pack, the Hunter's Moon books, the Lucky Penny pack, and once I found the Lunacy pack I had to get those too!

First Staple Day in a long time. I had switched to a Midori MD A6 for about 7 months but came back to Field Notes last month for the pocketability and I missed changing out notebooks more frequently. Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday. Cheers.

Has there been any documented messaging on how the collaboration with the U.S. Postal Service came about, in Dispatches, blogs, or elsewhere?

It seems to have started with the Title IX release in 2022, and it has clearly worked well enough for both sides to keep going. I'm curious how the idea came together and how the stamp sets are chosen for the FN treatment.

Having picked up a few of these releases over the years I've appreciated the clever-but-simple idea, giving FN variety and limited-edition product with relatively little production effort.
