Good to bleach again?

A friend bleached my hair about last March (1st photo) and the blonde has faded to the 2nd and 3rd photos. There’s still some blonde in there, but I really want to bleach it again anyways.

Is this safe in any way? Will all my hair fall out? Should I moisturize it before? Help me out, folks.

And now that I have enough length, after cancer and chemo. This is huge for me. I'm getting this piece of myself back. 🥹

Edit: thank you for all the love 🥹 I used Blue Jean baby by Arctic fox on hair that I lightened with Ion Extreme High Lift Blonde in 14B Ash Blonde on virgin level 7 hair.

Uneven pink distribution when using pink hair conditioner?

Hey guys, I got the pink highlights dyed some time this August. Since then, I’ve been trying to maintain it with pink coloring shampoo + conditioner.

However, it seems I would always leave behind parts that’s not touched by the coloring, specifically the hair at the back and in the middle.

I’m not sure what I can do to stop this. When I apply the conditioner (see image 4), I flip the hair over my head and try to apply it evenly on all sides. However, it’s clearly not working.

But how is it possible? I do start from right to left, and it’s the middle part that’s fading.

You would think it’s because im running out of conditioning midway, but that can’t be it, because the hair on my left has coloring, which is the last part I get to.

What the heck is going on??

I’ve started rubbing my hair together as to hopefully reduce the dis-even coloring😑

Let’s hope it works.

(Also, I know my hair doesn’t look very pink. But trust me, it does! It’s just the orange lighting)

Help! How can I even out my pink

Post image
8 Upvotes

My hair was pink last year and over the summer after it faded, I dyed it ashy blonde. I recently re did my pink, and I added some more highlights to the top. Those highlights came out super bright pink and not as dusty, because I didn’t have the blonde tone under it.

Is there a way I can even it out a bit? I don’t like the super neon that much. I’m okay with just letting it fade and see if that works better.

I used pravana magenta mixed with conditioner and a bit of orchid from kiss tintation.

Should I start using conditioner on bleached + vivid dyed hair?

I recently got my hair bleached from a mid brown to a level 7 then dyed orange with Pulp Riot. My hair is very porous and silky, and I don't generally use conditioner. Now I'm confused if I should start or not - conditioner will help maintain my colour by keeping the hair cuticle closed, but also the more time I spend washing it the more the colour will wash out?

Regardless I've been using cool water and sulfate/paraben-free shampoo for vivid coloured hair and only washing once or twice a week with no heat styling.

Bleached about 4 weeks ago and my super dark hairs are coming out a lot! Is it too soon to bleach and tone again? (And hopefully get them lighter this time?)

Greasy roots and fine hair

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello! I’m half Colombian and half Polish. My mother’s side (Colombian) has given me a rather greasy scalp, my father side (Polish) has given me fine hair. I’ve dealt with it for years by shampooing frequently. Like every day. Without shampooing the ends and drying them out of course. Early last year I was diagnosed with Tellogen Effoluvium because of a hormone problem with Birth Control. I lost lots of hair clumps near my temple and top of head.

My dermatologist reccomended only shampooing once a week and swapping to daily dry shampoo.

Finally this year my hair looks pretty normal and good. As a treat I bleached it in August! This weekend I went and had a professional go in and touch up the roots.

She then told me to shampoo everyday with Medicudicals Greasy Scalp shampoo. I think it’s doing its job. It was a little expensive but I’m unsure if this is the right advice.

She also told me to not use dry shampoo at all because it may act like flour dough on my greasy scalp? I’m not too sure what she meant by that.

So now I feel like I have all sorts of different opinions from both a derm and a salon. What is the best advice I should follow?

help me get to white pls

heres a brief history of my hair for some context:

2 weeks ago i had my hair bleached to lvl 9 then used purple shampoo to get it to platinum blond but i wasnt fully happy with it because i could still see a tiny bit of yellow so i searched online and found a comment on reddit saying that you should get redken shades EQ 10VV (lavender ice) and 10P (ivory pearl) mix them with the redken processor (1 to 1 ratio) so 2oz toners and 2oz processor which i did do and left it on my hair for 20 mins like instructed. unfortunately my hair turned into a really deep purple/lavender color and not white.

after that i used color remover cuz i didnt want to wait for the purple to fade naturally and got all the purple out of my hair. at this point my hair was back to a lvl 9 but i wanted it to be a level 10 so its easier for me to get it to white. So i bleached it again and the hair in the photo is what it looks like now after the bleach.

where do i go from here? what do you think i did wrong the first time? could it be that i had purple shampoo toned into my hair and adding the redken shades overtone it to purple instead of white? i still have some of the redken to use should go for it again or am i gonna get the same result again? pls help me....

Maintaining peachy pink hair

Hey everyone,

I just dyed my hair a peach colour and added cotton candy pink highlights and tips…. I asked my stylist if I should just add some pink dye into conditioner and he said yes…. I bought some manic panic amplified cotton candy pink to dilute - I actually love the warm peach shade and want to keep that… should I add the same conditioner all over or should I add a more concentrated conditioner to the tips and a lighter concentration to the root and middle of the hair to maintain?

thanks in advance for answers :)

Going from dyed honey blonde/light auburn to chocolate brown — need advice!

My natural hair is black, but I’ve dyed it 2–3 times using a mix of L’Oréal H16 Honey Blonde and H6 Light Auburn with 30-volume developer. I applied the mixture to both my roots and lengths. I want to go to chocolate brown, but I also have new growth. My hair is currently in braids, and I’m looking for advice on what to do after taking them out. The pic on the left is what I want and the right is what I have.
Should I fill my hair with pigment before applying brown dye? Would my roots and previously dyed lengths need different formulas or application times? What’s the best way to achieve an even chocolate brown without making my hair too dark, patchy, or damaged? I’ve included pictures of my current hair for reference. Any advice on the process and products to use would be appreciated!

actual PURPLE shampoo/conditioner for platinum

i have been struggling the last few years as everything on the market now has a horrible blue base, i have had white blonde hair for over a decade and suddenly nobody makes products for me anymore? it's all intended for darker blondes with orange tones, i don't understand. i have access to pretty much any professional product on the market and everything is leaving a blue cast which is essentially turning my white hair green under fluorescent office lighting.

please help, if anyone knows of any that are truly still purple, please let me know! i would even go as far to mix a direct dye with my own conditioner for a custom shade but everything has that blue and if it doesn't have blue, it's 'orchid' which i know from experience will also ruin my hair.

What dyes stain skin the longest?

I'm trying to find colorful dyes to use in a similar way to henna..since I do enjoy a bit of color but "colored henna" is just a bunch of random dyes. I know hair dye isn't gonna give me chemical burns if I use it on my skin, so what dyes do you guys have bad staining experience with? I know splat stains like a bitch, but I have vowed to never ever touch it again..trauma. Do you guys think if I used red manic panic it would stain for a while? I just don't remember how long the red stained last time I dyed my hair. I also wouldn't be opposed to just box dye, though I really want something that I can use a bit of and store the rest of, hence my affinity for manic panic.

Temporary dye for braids?

I have type 3b/c hair and I currently have my hair in a knotless braid with some extensions. I want to dye my braids temporarily white for Halloween, where I can wash it off the next day. Is there a good way to do this?

Please help me fix this at home

Hello! (: My friend is going to come over to help me fix this but I’d like some advice on what volume of bleach to use and for how long? And sorry my hair is not brushed in these pics, they are from when I woke up and needed a hair wash 😅

For context, I am naturally a dark brunette with very fine caucasian hair. I usually have my hair bleached close to platinum blonde. I’m disappointed because I couldn’t afford to go to the hairdresser for 9 months due to financial issues and was excited to finally get it fixed ): So this orange part was originally all brunette regrowth. I went to the hairdresser last week and she bleached it once, it came out dark orange, so she had to bleach it again. Now it’s light orange… and I got a small burn/ scab on my forehead, where she could see the injury developing even before she put second round of bleach on and we both pointed it out yet she still got bleach on it.

She previously she charged me €300 for regrowth touch ups, but I’m new to blonde so I thought that’s a normal price for this. I’m starting to think that’s overpriced but honestly I don’t know because she works in a fancy salon. Anyway, her price seems to change sometimes, so this time I asked her in advance if she could tell me the price before I book the appointment and I told her it’s because I have to be careful with money right now. So she dropped it to €250 this time and to bring it in cash… I knew it was sus and that she’d just pocket the money but I trusted her to at least do a good job like the first time. And I was happy for it to be cheaper. Welp, I’m never doing that again, because now I can’t get a refund. She did offer for me to come get it fixed, but honestly I don’t trust it. Last time she was getting distracted with multiple phone calls and aggressively brushing my hair which is already delicate.

Thanks for helping 🩷

Am I a lost cause?

I stopped seeing my hairstylist for a couple years. I forgot why I stopped going to her until I went back yesterday. She always tried to make me red or black. I’m a natural brunette and have always wanted just brown but as soon as she heard I used to dye my hair years back red she kept putting red tones in my hair and then eventually she moved to essentially black.

I left her after getting black essentially passed off as a very dark brown and just started using ion 4N on my hair 20 developer. After trying to get the black out of my hair.

I recently had a baby and hadn’t dyed my hair at all in 5 months. I went to her because the grays were bad. She told me essentially that I needed a color correction but didn’t say that. She also didn’t tell me she didn’t have time for a correction. The 4N was way too dark a color. My grays catching it were making it a light brown in some places but there were patches of 2N from the 4N getting darker and darker.

She said with the postpartum shedding she doesn’t recommend the bleach bath. So she’d do a partial highlight. I said great highlight is great I just don’t like a chunky highlight. She said she could do a dark almost black or she could do a red. I was like oh no I’d like a brown if possible. She said a warm brown? And I was like whatever brown I need to be. She foiled my hair into chunky highlights. She said she threw in doing a full head highlight instead of partial. She colored everything else then did a second coloring. I was charged $305. Which I don’t think was unreasonable although she charged me for a style when I asked not to be. A stylist passed by and said what a pretty red it will be. I asked her at the bowl like is this going to be a brown. She said it won’t be a red but it won’t really be a brown.

She said I had booked the wrong appt and should’ve booked a color correction not an all over color like I did so she was seeing me in between clients. At the end I think she could tell I wasn’t happy. She said text her by Friday and she could do a shadow root. She said give it a few days my complexion will change into it and the lighting is just harsh and it’ll wash out and cool down and not be so red. She said that when I said I don’t like the red because I turn coppery she thought I meant I wanted a red that doesn’t turn coppery. But she told me a warm brown. 🙃

That was yesterday. I washed it today because I was in tears remembering why I left her and I thought I was treating myself to be a beautiful brunette all in one piece after becoming a second time mom and I walked out with chunky highlights and red hair.

All that to say, Would a shadow root fix this? I have family pictures in 3 weeks. I can’t really afford much more than a couple hundred more to fix it if needed. I’m just wondering if there’s any way I could be a chocolate brown or medium neutral brown in 3 weeks time. Any way to fix the chunky highlights too?

I feel like I should give her the benefit of the doubt and reach out and see what she can do I’d even pay her. I just can’t stand the red or the red tones. It’s not me anymore that was years and years ago.

My second question, is I’ve been to 3 separate stylists around my town and I always end up with some sort of copper or red or something when I ask for brunette. What should I be asking for?

Getting blonde, put into hair, you've been dyeing

So a few months ago now I got some highlights and bayalage done at the hairdresser. I did it so I could make the purple I put in my hair more obvious, and i've been doing so.

It's grown out quite a bit so I would like to get some stuff done at the top, but i've been actively dying that hair purple

It pulled a teal a little bit when we initially did the highlights and the purple that I use covered it perfectly so i'm not super worried about perfect tone - i just want it to be light enough to be seen and roughed up enough that it will last longer

Is there a way to get that done semi affordably?

Toning advice for cool color palette

Looking for any advice on toning to start this off for a cool color palette. I've been doing semi permanents at home for years but am now working on customizing my colors more than just throwing what's in the bottle straight on. Any advice on how to tone this and not shut the cuticles down before putting the semipermanent on?
