Visas Colombia Dital Nomad Visa

Just found out that you can only hold this UPTO 2 years.

First time I applied, I got 1 year. Second time, 2 years, third time "NO, you can only hold it UPTO 2 years." Basically, if you have held this visa for 2 years, you cannot renew it again

What does "Validity : Up to two (2) years" mean? Does it mean I can get a valid max 2 year visa and renew after 2 years OR I can only be issued this visa for a total period of 2 years, after which it cannot be issued to me again.

This is what they quoted...Article 46 of Resolution 5477 of 2022

To be fair, at that point you are no longer a "nomad" apply for a different visa

I do understand. I just did not know that Validity : Up to two (2) years" meant you are ineligible after 2 years of use.

On that point you may just had bad luck with the officer I would circle back in a few days and ask again about eligibility, you may just have to wait till 01012027 to apply again

it's a digital nomad visa, not a "move to Colombia permanently" visa.

key word: nomad

You can apply for any visa, for any country, as long as you are eligible.

I was eligible. The issue with Colombia is rules are interpreted however someone woke up that morning.

Digital Nomad is to allow you to live and work in Colombia. I passed the airport 2 months ago and the officer was mad stating that I am moving in and out frequently, as opposed to staying IN more. He told me this. So, definitely, you are wrong.

thats rough, so they basically cap you at 2 years total not per visa. the wording is sneaky, it say "up to two years" but they mean lifetime limit not per application

i know few people who got caught by this in Medellin, they thought they could just keep renewing forever

Exactly. The wording is the issue. They should atleast make it clear so that we do not have issues/ misinterpret.

Oh wow. This is dumb AF lol. I just got my first one approved for one year. Idk if I would even stay two.

Are you using a lawyer?

No applied myself, for all of them.

Did you get your cedula in Medellin or where? I have a lawyer but I am stuck at the part of trying to get a gotdamn appointment through their system. Right at 4:59pm I am refreshing the appointment and everything is gone in literal seconds.

My lawyer is "offering" to schedule me for $200 lol

Yep Colombia is limiting nomad visas for some time, it's a policy to this point

They should clear the wording so that we don't waste $$ applying.

You already got a year and then a two year visa, so a lifetime two year cap would have stopped you at the second application. Whatever they quoted you, it isn't that.

I know. I even wondered why they gave me 2 years as opposed to 1 year, on my second application.

But I just don't want to bring this argument because I don't think it'll be beneficial.

And Yes, they quoted and wrote "el artículo 46 de la Resolución 5477 del 2022," on the rejection.

I think the latter is the correct one because I held 3 years (1 +2). So, if it was the former, it'll have been (1 +1). Unfortunately, I cannot even reply to the rejection as there is no way to reply and raise facts
