Help Planning to resign after 1.1 years due to a toxic work environment. Need advice.

Hi everyone,
I joined the corporate workforce last year and currently have around 1.1 years of experience. I've been considering resigning for a while because of the toxic work culture in my current project, which has taken a significant toll on my mental health. I also want to pursue higher studies.
Today, my uncle, who was like a father figure to me, passed away. I informed my manager that I needed leave, and his response was that this was the last time he would allow it and that if this continued, we would have to think of a way out.
I'm already dealing with the emotional distress of losing someone so close to me, and this interaction made things worse. I've been under tremendous mental strain, and today's incident feels like the breaking point. I've decided that I want to resign and move on.
Since this is my first corporate job, I'd appreciate advice on a few things:
Reason for resignation: Should I mention the toxic work environment or simply state that I want to pursue higher studies?
Resignation process: What should I check regarding my notice period, early release, and employment policies before resigning?
Documents: What documents should I collect before leaving, and which ones should I obtain after my last working day? (Experience letter, relieving letter, payslips, full and final settlement, etc.)
Future prospects: Will resigning after 1.1 years negatively affect my career or future higher studies?
Other precautions: Is there anything else I should do to ensure a smooth exit and avoid complications later?
I'd especially appreciate advice from people in India who have resigned from their first corporate job or dealt with a similar work environment.
Thank you!

TL;DR: I have 1.1 years of corporate experience and have been considering resigning due to a toxic work environment. Today, my uncle, who was like a father to me, passed away. When I informed my manager that I needed leave, he said this was the last time he would allow it and that we would have to think of a way out if this continued. This was the breaking point for me. I want to resign and pursue higher studies. Looking for advice on the resignation process, necessary documents, and potential impact on my career.

Suggestions Two Offers, Kinda Similar Salary: Global Brand Role vs Salesforce DevOps Lead at Persistent — What Would You Choose?

I have 5 years of application support/operations experience and am serving notice. I have two offers with similar packages:

Global consumer brand (Gurugram): Senior Specialist, Platform Operations. Business-tech coordination, get issue resolution , inventory sync, reporting, and optional automation.

Persistent Systems (Noida): Senior Lead, DevOps (Salesforce/Copado).

Which offer is safer long-term considering layoffs, bench risk, skill growth, AI impact, and work-life balance?

Career 3 startups in under 2 years as APM — should I make another move or stick around?

Hey folks, looking for some advice.

I'm a 2024 BTech graduate. Here's my journey so far:

  • Dec 2024 – Jan 2026: Joined a small Series A fintech startup as an APM. Stayed for 13 months.
  • Jan 2026 – Mar 2026: Joined an AI startup, but things were really bad. I was let go as part of a 50% workforce reduction within 2.5 months.
  • Apr 2026 – Present: Joined an Indian Series C company as an APM within 15 days of leaving the previous one.

Unfortunately, things aren't great here either. There's almost no work satisfaction, primarily because of the nature of the business and the clients we deal with. It feels less like actual product work and more like constant jugaad because of tight timelines and pressure from leadership.

I'm seriously considering moving to a genuinely good startup, ideally a Tier 1 B2C company. Finding the right opportunity could take anywhere from a month to six months, but I'd ideally like to stay there for 3–4 years and build solid experience.

My biggest concern is how my profile looks: 13 months → 2.5 months → 6+ months.

A few questions:

  1. Does it make sense to start looking now, or should I stick around for another year?
  2. Should I include the 2.5-month AI stint in my CV? Could leaving it out create issues during interviews or background verification?
  3. How badly would this pattern affect my chances at good startups? Would recruiters see it as a red flag?
  4. If anyone is hiring or knows of relevant openings/can refer me, I'd really appreciate it!

Would love to hear from people who've faced something similar or have experience hiring PMs.

Open Source Only Read this if you are looking At Your Screen More than 1hr in Day

• Upvotes

Every morning, I write down all the tasks I want to complete that day. I start working with a clear plan, but somewhere along the way, I lose context. I start jumping between tabs, get distracted, and sometimes forget what I was supposed to be working on in the first place.

That's one of the reasons I started building ScreenSky.

The idea is simple: help people stay focused, take meaningful breaks, and get back on track when they lose focus.

ScreenSky combines break reminders with a simple task manager. Your daily tasks are always easy to access, so whenever you get distracted or lose track of what you're doing, you can quickly see what needs to be done and pick up where you left off.

But the feature that excites me most is Mac-to-iPhone break syncing.

I noticed something about my own habits. Whenever I took a break from my Mac, I'd immediately pick up my phone and start scrolling.

Technically, I was taking a break from work, but I wasn't really taking a break from screens.

So I built a feature that syncs breaks between your Mac and iPhone. When a break starts on your Mac, it also triggers the break experience on your iPhone, helping you actually disconnect instead of just switching screens.

The iPhone feature is currently going through the publishing process.

I'm trying to rethink productivity a little. Not by adding more complicated systems or tracking every second of your day, but by making it easier to focus on what matters, take proper breaks, and return to your work without losing momentum.

ScreenSky is open source, and I'm building it around the idea that productivity tools should help us develop healthier relationships with our devices.

I'd love to hear what others think about this approach, especially if you've struggled with losing focus or switching to your phone during breaks.

General Will it be a Bloodbath in the IT sector in India for the next few years?

1.1k Upvotes

Reasons for this:

  1. Microsoft is planning to lay off folks.
  2. Anthropic and OpenAI IPOs (high chance of a burst).
  3. Other big tech companies are firing left, right and centre.

I think the most affected people are these, in order of decreased impact:

  1. No-name service companies
  2. No-name startups
  3. WITCH, Accenture, Capgemini and other big service-based companies (EY, Deloitte)
  4. Mid-scale service companies like Wissen, Persistent Systems, Coforge, etc.
  5. Product-based startups, small to medium
  6. Product-based companies, medium to large
  7. Big tech folks

Big tech folks have at least good names on their resumes, compared to everyone else on this list, so they'll land on their feet first.

The ones who'll struggle most are the folks from no-name service companies, no brand on the resume, no specialised skills, and the most exposed to AI-driven automation of routine dev/QA/support work.

Everyone is in applying for the same role. Amazon employee and WITCH employee and Amazon guy will be first one to grab a job.

Indeed these are scary times, this is just my pov, it maybe wrong

Career Looking for advice - Switching to a GCC after 7 years or considering a counteroffer?

Hey everyone, I have around 7 years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer (.NET Full Stack) in a service-based company in Hyderabad.

I recently received an offer from a GCC with a good hike and decided to resign after receiving the official offer letter. My main reasons for switching are better compensation, new challenges, and professional growth. I don't have any major issues with my current company or management.

However, my manager is now trying to retain me and is willing to discuss a counteroffer. I was retained by the same company around 3 years ago, and I sometimes regret not switching back then.

I'm inclined to move on this time, but I'd like some outside perspective before proceeding.

TL;DR: 7 YOE, got a 50% hike from a GCC, resigned, and my current company is trying to retain me. I was retained once before and regret not switching. Should I stick to my decision or consider a counteroffer? Also, what should I evaluate before joining a GCC?

P.S. Used AI to put my thoughts into words.

Help Got a 6-month internship + PPO offer at a Fortune 500 MNC, but I'm confused if I should settle for it or aim higher

I got an internship + PPO opportunity at a Fortune 500 product-based MNC in Hyderabad as a Software Developer, with a stipend of ₹25k/month during the 6-month internship starting January 2027 and a PPO of 7 LPA. The catch is that I'll be working with Perl, which isn't exactly the tech stack I envisioned building my career around. I'm about to enter my 4-2 semester, and honestly, I feel like my skills deserve better opportunities, but campus placements have dried up, and off-campus applications have been brutal since I'm barely getting shortlisted for OAs. I'm confused about whether I should accept this opportunity and focus on building my career from here or keep trying for startups and service-based companies that might offer better packages and more relevant tech stacks. How much will starting at this company with a 7 LPA PPO and working on Perl affect my long-term career growth, future switches, and opportunities in product-based companies? Would you take this offer in my situation, or would you keep grinding for something better? Looking for honest advice, especially from people who've been in a similar situation.

Career Looking to connect with Indian healthtech and AI startup founders

Hey everyone! I’m exploring my next challenge and would love to connect with founders building in healthtech, healthcare AI, and digital health.
I currently work at a Canadian healthcare technology company and have 4+ years of experience across healthcare technology, with a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the US.

My experience sits at the intersection of healthcare and engineering. I’ve worked with clinical assessments, EHR integrations, clinical data, and production software, with hands-on experience in Python, Django, JSON configurations, testing, and GitHub-based development workflows. I also use AI coding tools like Claude Code to accelerate development and debugging.

I’m particularly interested in startups working on behavioral health, clinical assessment tools, patient-reported outcomes (PROs), healthcare AI, and EHR-connected products.

I believe I can be especially valuable to early-stage teams that need someone who understands both the healthcare domain and the technical work required to turn clinical requirements into functioning software.

If you’re building in this space, or know a startup that could use this combination of skills, I’d love to connect. Happy to share my résumé over DM!
Looking forward to connecting with people building exciting things in Indian startups. 🙌

Help 2024 B.Tech graduate here. Should I go for CDAC or keep trying for an SDE job?

Hey everyone,

I'm a 2024 B.Tech CSE graduate, and honestly, I'm a bit lost about what to do next.

After graduating, I spent time preparing DSA, building projects, doing freelance work, and trying to get into software development. I've also worked as a DSA instructor and have around six months of internship experience in backend development.

My main tech stack is Java, Spring Boot, Python, FastAPI, SQL, etc. I've built real-world projects and my LeetCode profile is in the top 4% globally, so it's not like I've done nothing since graduation.

But despite all this, I still haven't been able to land an SDE job.

I've applied through job portals, worked on my resume to make it ATS-friendly, sent cold emails, asked for referrals, and tried different approaches. I've had a few interviews too, including some where I reached the later rounds, but nothing has worked out so far.

At this point, I'm starting to question whether I'm approaching this the right way.

I'm considering joining CDAC, but I'm confused about whether it's actually worth it for me. I'll have to invest more time and money, and I'm not sure whether it will significantly improve my chances of getting a job.

Should I go for CDAC, or should I continue applying and focus on getting better at interviews and strengthening my existing skills?

I'm also wondering whether I should stick to Java backend development or start exploring .NET and other technologies to increase my chances.

I'd really like to hear from people who have been in a similar situation, especially those who graduated in 2023 or 2024.

If you did CDAC, did it help you get a job? And if you didn't, how did you eventually break into the industry?

I'm not looking for motivation or someone to tell me to just keep trying. I'd genuinely appreciate some practical advice on what I should do differently.

If you were in my position, what would you do?

Suggestions Need advice: Can anyone even switch to a SDE 2 position with 1.5 years of experience?

Hey fam, please don’t come at me and tell me the job market is already bad and I can’t DREAM of becoming an SDE 2 at this level of experience, because I’m already aware of what’s happening in the market.

I want to hear from people who have actually switched or seen other people switch with a relatively low years of experience than the standard 2-3 years expectation. What were the companies? How did you/they make it happen? Was it a strong referral that acted in their favour? I’m really curious!

A bit about my background: I’ve been working at a FAANG company for 1.5 years now. Before that I’ve done couple of internships adding which makes my experience 2.1 years (but most companies don’t count internship experience is what I know sobs)

I have good grip over DSA + LLD + Fundamentals and have done good projects at my company with decent level of ambiguity and technical complexity. My team & manager were inclined for my promo but my org is in a really bad shape with people leaving left and right, including my manager and I don’t see my promo coming anytime within the next year now, which is a MAJOR SETBACK to the timelines I had.

I’ve had some call backs from other FAANG+ tier companies but they’re all offering me SDE 1 roles, which doesn’t improve my situation at all.

I’d really be grateful if people with more experience or insights on this could help me with some clarity on this situation. Thanks in advance ✨

Career Carrer guidance for AI ML for a mechanical graduate

Hi, I am looking for guidance on a career pivot and higher education options in quantitative fields. Here is a brief background of my profile and dilemma:

- **Academic Background:** B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from an NIT (strong quantitative foundation, deep personal interest in mathematics

).

- **Current Role:** Graduate Engineer Trainee / Operations role in a pharma supply chain company.

- **Compensation:** Decent (approx. 70k INR in-hand per month), but the day-to-day work is monotonous and unstimulating.

- **Dilemma & Goals:** I want to transition into a more intellectually stimulating quantitative/analytical career. I am currently eyeing three specific postgraduate programs:

  1. CMI M.Sc. in Data Science

  2. ISI M.Tech. QROR (Quality, Reliability, and Operations Research)

  3. ISI M.S.QMS (Quality Management Science)

- **Specific Concerns:** While the placement records for these institutes are generally solid (predominantly leading to risk analytics roles in banks, quantitative modeling, or data science positions), I am deeply concerned about the current tech/analytics job market and recent industry layoffs.

Given this context:

  1. How do CMI (Data Science) and ISI (QROR/QMS) stack up against each other in terms of risk-reward, curriculum rigor, and industry perception during a tight job market?

  2. Are these degrees resilient enough to hedge against current tech volatility, or are risk/quant roles seeing similar hiring freezes?

  3. What would be a structured way to evaluate whether giving up a stable 70k/month job for a rigorous full-time master's program makes sense right now?

Help Looking for advice on building my first visual novel game

Hey everyone!

I've built a few simple apps before, but this is my first time building a visual novel game, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to approach it.

My budget is under $500, and I want to build something that I can expand over time without having to rebuild everything from scratch later.

I'd love some advice from people who've worked on visual novels or indie games!

A few things I'm trying to figure out:

• Game engine: Should I use Ren'Py, Unity, Godot, or something else? What would you recommend for a beginner who's comfortable with basic app development?

• Tech stack: If I want the game to be scalable and maintainable as I add more content and features, what would be the best approach?

• Best practices: What should I plan for from the beginning, especially when it comes to dialogue systems, branching storylines, character relationships, save files, and player choices?

• Budget: With less than $500 to spend, what should I prioritize? Are there any free tools or resources you'd recommend for art, music, sound effects, and other assets?

• Common mistakes: For those who've built a visual novel before, what do you wish you'd known before starting?

I'm also curious about how people approach monetization and publishing, although getting the game built properly is my first priority.

I'm not looking for the most complicated setup. I want something practical that I can build with, learn from, and expand as the game grows.

Would really appreciate any advice, resources, or lessons from your own experience. Thanks!

General Got an offer of 60 LPA from Virtusa, should I accept?

I have an offer from Virtusa

I’m currently working in a product based company and a bit confused whether I should make the switch or not.

Wanted to know from people who are currently working at Virtusa or have worked there before, how is it overall?

Mainly looking for some honest feedback on:

  • How is the WLB? Is the work pressure too much?
  • How is the work culture and management?
  • How are the hikes?
  • Since I’m coming from a product based company, will it be a big difference in terms of work culture and technical growth?

The package looks good, but I dont want to regret the move later just for the money.

Would you guys recommend joining Virtusa at this package? Any honest opinions or suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks!

Suggestions I recently started learning the Spring Framework and it feels overwhelming

I recently started learning spring through a yt course. I've already completed some of the lectures, which covered the following topics:

  1. Apache Maven
  2. Dependency Injection and IoC Containers
  3. Circular Dependencies
  4. Bean Lifecycle

I'm already familiar with Java from high school, so some concepts are relatively easy to understand. However I find certain topics overwhelming, and I often end up getting distracted while watching the videos.

There are two things I'd like to ask:

  1. Can I skip Spring Core and jump straight into Spring Boot?
  2. How can I stay engaged and avoid distractions, even when the topics are boring or overwhelming?

If anyone has faced a similar situation, I'd be really grateful for your advice and guidance..

Suggestions Should I switch in this market? For package and take risk ?

Hi

I am 23 yr pass out and software engineer 2 at a good company .getting around 1.8l per month. Tech wise it is good and work wise as well better. But as its been more than 3 yrs, I thought I should switch for higher package and now learning became stale. But after seeing market laid offs and stuff from past 6 months I am doubtful to take risk and join new company .

So what do u suggest

Settle here or switch

I am sure I may not get laid off(i hope so) in current company, unless I work very bad which is currently not.

I want to go to some US based companies so I can get US stocks . But seeing laidoff in big companies is concerning

Help Need guidance for switching as a fresher with 0 experience

Hey everyone,

I joined a product based company as a cloud intern. It's been 5 months of my internship and I haven't got any hands on till now.

We are totally 3 interns here, and we were given a portal development project. Even we were told that if we complete it within 1 month, they would make it live for oncampus hiring.

Now, after completing it first version, we got to know that this year's hiring is already done and somebody already developed the same project ( the one we have been working on). And, they will think for hosting it in next year.

Now, we are told to go back to basics. They told us " Clear your basics so that you can crack any interview Outside of Company". Now , we are confused what does that mean?

Have they already decided that we are not getting FTE?

We were never told to learn cloud, aws or devops.

Now we are stuck between our team stack and placement prep.

I already started doing DSA, Core CS, AI fundamentals, System Design, Database, but getting lost.

I really need a track or roadmap.

One moment I am learning AWS and another moment, I am focusing on DSA.

** We have already asked our manager about this many times, everytime he says that upper mgmt just wants us to be strong on core cs. And we should learn in depth.

Can somebody please guide me on this? We are not hoping to get FTE here, so really need your guidance on this.
