Sorry for potato quality. They requested that all larger carry-ons to be checked for free because it was a small plane. The gate agent even specifically asked if he wanted to check it, and he declined. He took up an entire overhead.

Apparently this happened in Colombia.
The video is quite interesting, and finally no clear reason has been provided. Delta has offered $150? As compensation, indicating there’s something to compensate.

If the crew tells you have to switch so a couple can sit together and you get a middle seat way back… so have to grin and bear it?

AKA Delta has lost the plot.

In the interest of full transparency, I already booked my ticket for this date a couple months ago and it was under $100, but these are the current Main Cabin rates from MSP to ORD on Oct 12, 2026. SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR 75 MINUTES.

I was also not getting a pop up on the app for this where they show price or "no thanks". I went to the website to see if it was the same, and it shows this. Appreciate any insight. Thanks!

I’ve never seen anything like that. TSA lines are starting near the check-in area at the domestic side. If you have a flight today, make it here early!!

Image/Video Delta offered $3,000 to get off a flight after boarding. I didn’t even think—I just threw my hand up!

Post image

This happened this morning (April 21), and it still feels unreal. I was booked on a Delta flight from Chicago O’Hare to Seattle, 7:50 AM departure. Monday after Easter—aka a max-capacity travel kinda day.

I boarded with Zone 2, grabbed my seat in Row 10, and settled in. Then a gate agent walks up to the front of first class—no mic, no big announcement—and casually drops what sounded like a travel myth:

“We’re looking for two volunteers to deplane due to fuel rebalancing issues. Compensation is $3,000.”

I barely even processed it before my hand was in the air. No hesitation. I wasn’t letting anyone else beat me to it. Another passenger raised theirs right after.

We both got off the plane and were handed: • One $2,000 credit • One $1,000 credit

Apparently Delta can’t issue more than $2K in one go, so they split it. The credits are loaded into their Choice Benefits portal, where you can convert them to gift cards (Amazon, Airbnb, etc.) (beware not to choose Visa due to expiration date and fees/limitations) or Delta flight credit. So yeah…basically $3,000 for taking a later flight and working from home with family.

But here’s the kicker: Turns out there was an equipment change earlier. After Zone 2 finished boarding, Delta realized they needed to offload people. So they started asking for volunteers at the gate—and 22 passengers took the deal for $1,700 each. (~$37!!)

I had already boarded and didn’t know until getting off board. I was literally sitting in my seat, headphones out, when I heard the offer. And because I moved fast after boarding, I walked away with the highest payout on the plane: $3,000. The two “fuel rebalancing deplanees” got $3k and everyone else got $1.7k vouchers.

No delays. No drama. Just a perfectly-timed raised hand.

I always thought once you board, you’re locked in and done. But apparently, if Delta hits an operational issue (like fuel balancing) and still needs volunteers? That window reopens—and if you’re quick, you can win big.

Shout out to the Delta Red Coats holding it down at ORD at 5AM. Smoothest offload I’ve ever seen during a hectic travel day!

I got an upgrade to First from LAX>SEA after I’d already sat down in my C+ seat pre-flight.

Already feeling lucky, the FA asked me if I wanted the Shake Shack burger the original 2B had ordered.

To whomever was meant to be in this seat, I hope you’re getting great karma wherever you may be.

I know a few of you employees read this Subredditt. I want to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to the entire Delta Team.

I unexpectedly lost my father in-law this morning at 01:30. I was in Denver for work and immediately called to book flights home. I called reservations and got Brenda.

I told her I needed to get back to Appleton today to comfort my wife and our 3 little boys no matter what it took. She was so gentle caring and even cried with me as I processed the loss. Needless to say I am flying in now thanks to her.

When I checked my bags the agent expressed her condolences on my loss. I sat anxiously waiting to board, I oddly got upgraded and in my seat was a condolence letter from the ground crew in my seat. As I deplaned there was a letter from my flight attendant, Xavier.

Thank you guys who work tirelessly around the clock. You guys are awesome and make Delta Awesome. You softened this long Awful flight.

May got bless you all. Thank you for being excellent humans in this world. You guys have my business for life.

Image/Video When did we normalize not cleaning planes?

Post image

Plane smelled like rotten seafood or urine/feces. Passengers were complaining, so to mask the smell the flight attendant spritzes air freshener in the aisle.

A great reminder to all of these premium brand claims from Delta (and others) are all a facade.

Today on my flight the passenger next to me decided to take up some extra space. When I asked him to move so I can fasten my seat belt his response was “If the plane is going down the seatbelt isn’t going to save you” Funny but uncomfy lol.

I don’t want to be rubbing thighs with my neighbor on the plane. Ended up taking refuge with flight attendants in the back of the plane and they were very nice about it.

Image/Video My Husband got Stuck in a Delta airplane bathroom for 35 minutes.

24.2k Upvotes

So here’s a story for ya’ll…you really can’t make this shit up!!

Additional videos/pics in comments.

On a recent Delta Air Lines flight from Salt Lake City to New Orleans, my husband, Brent, got up to use the bathroom, leaving me, my four year old and two year old in our row. No big deal, I knew I’d get my help with our two toddlers back in a jiffy.

After 5 minutes, I wondered what was going on. Was he using this time as a much-needed break from my children’s whiney demands and frequent tantrums? I didn’t blame him.

I shuffled the kids and I around, as this was taking longer than expected. If you know my kids, you know they don’t just sit still. So hanging them to myself on a long flight is a handful. Ten minutes went by, and as my 4-year-old asked yet again, “Where’s daddy?” I heard a flight attendant say the word “stuck.”

Something clicked. “Excuse me, is there someone stuck in the bathroom??”

“Yes,” she said. “The door is jammed, and someone is stuck in there.”

“… I think that’s my husband!”

My attention diverted to the rear of the plane, where sure enough, two Delta flight attendants were yanking the bathroom door handle in and attempt to free my trapped husband.

Soon, the two flight attendants (both women) recruited a random male passenger to help try to dislodge the door. He gave it his damnest, but it was to no avail.

It had now been 20 minutes. Brent had been stuck in a 3.5 x 5ft pee and poop box for almost a half hour.

Next up to try his luck, and I kid you not, was THE PILOT. Don’t ask me who was flying the plane LOL. I think they may have needed his permission to potentially damage the door to get Brent out. The pilot was really giving it is all, as you can see in the videos. But it wasn’t until Brent kicked the hell out of the door while the pilot was pulling as hard as possible that Brent finally made his escape.

Checked my watch…35 minutes trapped in a Delta bathroom. We thank God that Brent didn’t take our 4-year-old with him. We thank God that it was a 34-year-old man who got stuck and not an elderly person or young child. We thank God it wasn’t someone who would have a panic attack over claustrophobia or germaphobia.

Delta Air Lines asked that I wouldn’t share the videos a fellow passenger took for me on social media (I couldn’t leave my kids in their seats alone to take my own pictures/videos). But customer service wouldn’t even refund our, as you can imagine, terrible flights. So…here we are.

Straining at leash. Tried to sniff me, then tried to go into cockpit, then tried to go into galley.

If you are selfish enough that you must bring your pet onboard, at least don't diminish what actual service dogs do.
