Hello! My chameleon, Pistachio, is laying eggs and I’m TERRIFIED!!! She’s black and she’s in her lay bin. I know this is what they do but i just need some reassurance that she’s not dying and she’s just doing her thing.

She’s tunneled and laying there now and I’m trying to not bother her!! I just really hope she’s okay because this is the first time either of us have gone through this.

Question Humidity question

My humidifier/mister just died and there isn't one available to buy at my pet store. (The reptile section is pathetically small!) Will my little guy be okay until one arrives in a few days? What should I do in the meantime? I have amazon prime so shouldn't be more than 2 days but counting today makes 3.

Pic for attention

PSA about plant pests!

I just wanted to post a reminder or spread awareness since it can be easy to forget but please wash and closely inspect new live plants for different kinds of pests prior to putting them in your babies enclosures! Dont let the possibility of plant pests be a deterrent for using live plants either because please, please, please use live plants still but save yourself the worry and money by being preemptive! Many plant pests will stunt plant growth, kill your plants, spread to the rest of your plants enclosure from a single "infected" plant, and potentially cause harm to your babies. Infestations are hard to get rid of and it would be a nightmare to replace an entire enclosures worth of plants.

i am in shambles and have been sobbing for hours sorry if this is incoherent. i got my baby in april from a really shitty breeder at an expo. he was covered in mites, had stuck shed, and looked like he was on the brink of death. after coming into my care he was always his beautiful lime green color and plumped up beautifully. the last two days he refused to eat. i scheduled a vet appointment for tomorrow but when i went to turn his lights on this morning he was stiff at the bottom of his enclosure. i have no idea what could have happened. i dont know his age as the breeder didnt know it. i feel so so awful for my sweet boy and am literally so heartbroken. this photo was taken literally the day before. there were no warning signs and i feel just awful.

Question Does my chameleon look healthy?

She moves around a lot, seems happy, comes to me willingly almost every time I open her enclosure and she eats about 6 calcium covered crickets every other day. I’m just worried I might be over feeding but at the same time not feeding enough
Just looking for any advice anyone’s willing to give

Hey everyone, I am a brand new cham owner and am very excited to have this little guy. I picked him up today and estimate he is about a month old. I have found many conflicting things online about the overall well-being of him. Hoping to get some help on what his humidity level should be at night time with the lights off and also how many crickets he should be getting at morning and night. Thank you!

Question Questionable burn / abrasion?

Not sure what this spot is on his nose is but I’ve noticed it’s stayed after shedding and he’s had it since I’ve got him less than a month ago.

Little paranoid after losing my last little man.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Chameleon injury

First time owner here! My juvenile chameleon has a weird spot on his foot today - it does appear that the nail is missing but I’m really wondering what may have happened. There isn’t anything in his enclosure he could have hurt his foot on, his last shed went really well, and he’s very active. I do have an appointment for later this week but the exotic vet was booked out until then - anyone seen anything like this?

Chameleon Bonding Advice

I have a male panther chameleon who is about 4 months old and a very healthy, happy guy, but he is just so scared of me!! I am aware that chameleons aren’t social animals and usually don’t like handling, but I would at least like to be able to stick my hand in his enclosure without completely stressing him out and making him gape / hiss. anyone have thoughts?

Does anyone know anywhere to sell an enclosure? It's put together so I can't ship it but still new. I've tried Facebook. I'm in Wyoming. Thanks.

New Owner I feel devastated. My first chameleon after owning many reptiles died.

I have lots of reptiles and invertebrates I love so much. I do my best to provide the best care for them. It’s my biggest and favorite hobby :) I decided that I’m ready for a more advanced species, like a chameleon, so I started looking for one a while ago.

I found a veiled chameleon from a rehoming group on Facebook about a month ago. He was 2 years old. He came to me with signs of MBD (curved casque) and a sub-standard enclosure. Previous owner had never taken him to a vet because she couldn’t afford it.
I revamped his tank to have lots of live plant coverage, lots of climbing space, etc. He came with a UVB lamp and a basking spot (halogen light). He had a waterfall fountain I set up that stays on all of the time and provides moving water, an automatic mister that went off for 120 seconds every 4 hours pointed at the plants he hangs around the most. I had a fogger that was turned on immediately after the lights turned off and stayed on until morning. Set up in the pics.

I went on a weekend camping trip (Saturday-Sunday). I saw signs on Friday of dehydration (sunken eyes) which was weird because he has so many sources of water. I sprayed water directly in his mouth which he absolutely hated. I went on the trip because it was only a night and everything is automated. Came back this morning and he was dead at the bottom of the tank. No signs of life. I am devastated.

Is it really that common for chameleons to not drink ANY water while it’s completely available?????? I cannot wrap my head around this. Does everyone have to spray water DIRECTLY into their mouths to get them to drink??? Any guidance or advice would be great.

Possible rehoming and not sure where to start

I have two Chameleons and due to several things happening I'm looking to possibly rehome them and just like the title says, I don't know where to start on finding them a new home.

I'm located in York,pa and have both a Veiled Chameleon (male) appox. 4-5 years old and a Panther Chameleon ( female ) approx. 1 year old.

If anyone has info on specific groups or whatnot for this , I would really appreciate any information or contacts.

Meet Melon. 5 months old, 44g, 18cm, loves my hands, HATES my face. Likes the camera.
But she can eat. And sits by her food bowl like a starving orphan (then goes to bask because I ignore her).

So my boy decides he doesn’t always feel like waiting for the feeders to climb up. (Super worm, crickets, and dubias) so he just sticks his head in and shoots the bugs in a barrel.

when my partner got home from work he noticed that Rocky (the chameleon) tail got pinched in the door. it must have happened when I was feeding him before I had left, these are the photos my partner sent me. Wondering what next steps are and what to watch out for, any help/advice would be great. Rocky is about 4 months old.

Does this chameleon look unhealthy? I saw it at PetSmart and wanted to get opinions from people who know reptiles.

I saw a chameleon at PetSmart that honestly looked like it wasn’t doing well. It was noticeably skinny and had a very dull, brownish-gray color, which concerned me. I don’t know much about reptiles, so I took a picture to ask a friend who knows more about them. After seeing the picture, she recommended that I report it.

I reached out to PetSmart corporate to bring the situation to their attention, but I haven’t received a response. I’m really disappointed by the lack of communication, especially because I’ve never personally had a bad experience with PetSmart. However, I have heard stories about animals in pet stores not always receiving the proper care, and seeing this firsthand was concerning.

I’m not a reptile expert, so I don’t want to jump to conclusions about the chameleon’s condition, but it genuinely didn’t look healthy to me. I just hope someone checks on it and makes sure it’s receiving the care it needs.

We’ve had Georgie for about three/four months. He has started to hump or grind on my arm when I hold him. Is this normal for a male when they become mature? He went to the vet a week and half ago and got a clear bill of health.

Question Hatchling Help 🚨 🥚

Thumbnail

My son and I got a panther chameleon egg from a reptile show a few weeks ago. It is due to hatch after November 11th. We want to make sure we are ready and have read a lot of conflicting info. So far, we have a 16x16x30 enclosure (I know we will need to upgrade as he/she grows but we wanted to start out with something smaller since a hatchling will be tiny.) We have a pothos and money tree in the enclosure along with some sycamore branches that have no pesticides and have been washed thoroughly. We have a double dome that came with the enclosure with an LED grow light for the plants, and heat bulb. We have ordered a linear uvb t5 that will be delivered this week. We also have a few more sticks and fake vines/plants that we plan to add for cover once our fishing line arrives to attach it securely. The enclosure came with repti-carpet that we currently have in the enclosure but I am thinking we will replace it with paper towels. Will this be a good setup for our little guy/girl? There will be more cover once we have the fake vines/plants securely attached.

I know where we can go get some pinhead crickets once the egg hatches. Any advice on feeding a hatchling is greatly appreciated. We plan to feed 2-3 times a day and have some calcium to dust the crickets with. Should we put the hatchling in the cricket keeper to let it eat? Or perhaps just let the crickets loose in the enclosure to feed it? I am very nervous about feeding the baby chameleon.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Question Is my chameleon okay?

Thumbnail

This is Ozzie. She’s a female veiled chameleon. I don’t have an exact age, but given her size, I’d say around five months.

The first picture is one I took a few minutes ago, the other is her a few days ago.

Recently, she’s hasn’t seen that great. She’s constantly showing spots, won’t eat as much (she’ll still eat but not nearly as much as she used to), she moves a bit shaky, and she often goes to the bottom of her enclosure.

She was acting and looking perfectly fine just a few days ago, as can be seen in my other posts, but now she’s appearing like this.

Does anyone know what might be wrong with her? I can answer any questions that can help give an answer.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Jackson’s Chameleon Daytime Eye Closure

Thumbnail

Hi, my Jackson’s Cham just started closing his eyes today during the daytime out of nowhere. He has refused food the last few days and idk what’s going on. His temps are pretty much perfect, 78-79 basking temp during the day and drop to 60-65 at night. I run a fogger almost all night long 10 PM - 8:30 AM, and mist occasionally. It’s currently a bioactive setup with an inch or two of clay balls followed by mesh lining followed by a mix of topsoil, charcoal, coco husk, and a bit of peat moss. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I think he may have an RI. Made a vet appt as quickly as I could for Monday. So don’t come at me and say I didn’t try my best. I’ve cried all day and tied to figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’ve put thousands of dollars into this guy. Can anyone tell me what they think is going on? I have a mesh enclosure but I Velcro’d three plastic panels to the sides of the enclosure to keep humidity in because it felt like no matter how much water I was misting or fogging, the humidity wasn’t going up where it needed to be.
