General Discussion Flea medication
Hey Everyone!
This is my first time posting as I am more of a lurker and get my lots of joy from seeing all the brittany dog pictures and information ā¤ļøā¤ļø. So please never stop posting the cute pictures š„°!
On to my question, I was wondering what kind of flea medication everyone is using for their pups? How well do you think they work/ would you recommend them? Where are you from (some places get a break from fleas during winter)? Have you had any bad experiences?
I live in Southern California where fleas can be a constant battle. Mine is currently on Nexgard plus, and has been for awhile now. She seems to do well now that I figured out how to give the meds so she doesn't feel sick... Before she would get very sick and would throw up and we thought she couldn't handle the chews and she ended up with tapeworms when she was on just the topical meds š.
While I have been happy with the Nexgard Plus, soon I will be taking her to a vaccine clinic that will have Nexgard (not nexgard plus) and bravecto available and might try one of them, but I get anxious with these kinds of meds.
Added pictures of Vera, my 9 year old spoiled princess stinky chonky girl, bc she is so smiley and cute š„°š„°.

General Discussion Help
Hopefully I donāt regret asking this question, but desperate for some advice from fellow dog owners.
We have a male Brit and female GWP. We have a very secure fenced in yard that they have free roam of. Never have our dogs gotten out unsupervised or caused any issues with any other dog or human. Unfortunately last week a door was not latched properly and without our knowing the dogs got out very briefly but one of them (unsure which dog) bit a the neighbors chihuahua. The dog did need medical attention.
We have not been able to speak with the neighbors, outside of their adult daughter who does not live in the home but was present at the time the dogs got out. We are very much taking responsibility and willing to pay vet bills but the daughter is borderline harassing us at this point. Tailgating me down the road while driving, yelling across the yard while being outside.
Should I still try to speak face to face outside of when the daughter is present (her kids are there for daycare so sheās there often) or would it suffice to send a message to the neighbors/dog owners? I donāt want it to seem like weāre not taking responsibility but I really am done dealing with the daughter. Iāve lost sleep over this, this behavior is completely out of the blue from our dog (dogs?) and truly just a complete accident that the door was not latched properly.
Again, I hope I donāt get torn down in the comments as I have beaten myself up over this but just desperate for some other opinions.

Front clip harness
My Brit is a puller, and weāve been using a front clip harness ever since she was a puppy. She can walk pretty well if sheās clipped in the front but I find the harnesses weāve tried just are too loose. Iāve tried high-end harnesses. Iāve tried cheap harnesses, and Iāve have the same problem with fit. The Britās body is different from a lot of other dogs so that if it fits around the girth, the neck is too loose. Does anyone have a good fitting harness for front clipped Brit? I want the front part not to move when she tries to pull because it really doesnāt do much if she can pull it with her. TIA.

General Discussion Brittany vs English setter
Looking for feedback, we have our first hunting dog narrowed down to French britts or an English setter .
The dog will be hunting CRP in the Midwest for pheasants, it will almost always be the only dog hunting. I prefer a dog that works fairly close as I take older people that donāt move quite as fast hunting with me.
The dog will also be indoors and we like the absolute most chill dog indoors possible.
The dog will have the opportunity to exercise for hours and hours a day.
The setter breeder Iām speaking with has a litter who he says our bred to work closer than your normal setter, and the breeder of the Britneyās says they work fairly close.
Wondered if anybody had an opinion which I realize Iām posting in a brittany reddit. But if you have experience with both, I would love the feedback. All my friends have. GSPās I donāt personally know anybody in my area that has either breed of a dog.

General Discussion Doggie Dementia Tips?
My main squeeze, Gus got diagnosed with doggie dementia last year. We switched him over to Purina Neurocare food which made a big difference. He now only gets occasional sundowners but they are rough.
When he gets sundowners he basically is having a panic attack all night. Needs to be on my chest or face heavily panting from like 12-5am. Started giving him CBD and melatonin which helps once it kicks in. I donāt give it to him every night since he only occasionally gets them and I donāt like to drug him. So that works well. He only gets them for about 3-5 nights in a row every few months. Although lately seems to be a bit more frequent.
Hoping my 12, almost 13 year old lives to 100.
Outside of his dementia heās still the same incredible boy, aging gracefully, loves to hike, play ball, snuggle. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions to better handle his sundowners or words of encouragement?! š
