Welcome. Start here.

This is a place for Dads whose child has died, however and whenever it happened: in pregnancy, at birth, as a baby, or older. You're still a Dad, and you're not on your own.

Why this is here
I'm Matt, Parker's Dad. Parker James was born on 14 August 2026 and died the next day. When I went looking for other Dads, I couldn't find a place made for us. The Dad communities had no room for grief, and the loss communities were mostly Mums. So here it is.

How it works
Say as much or as little as you like. Just reading is fine too.
Use your child's name. We'd love to hear it.
Pick a flair if you like: Saying their name, A hard day, Just need to say it, A slice of joy, Question, or Content note.
Be kind. The rules are in the sidebar.
I moderate on my own for now, so please use the report button if something isn't right.

In danger: call your local emergency number (000 in Australia).

Bereaved Fathers Day
The last Sunday in August, the Sunday before Father's Day in Australia: a day for every Dad whose child has died, and for the people who love them. Next: Sunday 29 August 2027. There's support for Dads, words for family and friends, and a place to write a letter to your child at bereavedfathersday.com. It doesn't fundraise.

Hey Dads,
Just a reminder tonight is the wave of light for pregnancy and infant loss awareness month.
We all light a candle at 7pm on your time zone to commemorate this evening and all of the babies and children that died too soon.
Please see more here: https://babyloss-awareness.org/wave-of-light/

I’ve added a template post to this that you’re freely welcome to use and post on social media or share anywhere you may like.

Much love,
Matt

Today is truly a tough one, it’s been 2 months today since his birth.
This isn’t how I imagined bringing my little guy home.

Any tips on what helps on these days?

A hard day The Wave of Light is Thursday 15 October, 7pm. Here's a template if you'd like to post one for your child.

On Thursday 15 October at 7pm, people around the world light a candle for the children who've died, and leave it burning for an hour, so a wave of light follows the evening around the world. It's Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

I'll be lighting one for my son, Parker James.

If you'd like to share one for your child, the second image is a template.
On Instagram, it's in @bereavedfathersday's latest post: swipe to it, tap the paper plane, Add to story, and type their name on the line.

Or save it from here, add their name with any photo app, and post it wherever you like on Thursday the 15th.
Or just tell us their name in the comments. That's enough.

Love from Matt, Parker's Dad

Saying their name Matt & Parker - My introduction

Hello,
After numerous issues and no communication from mods and attempting to share and create bereaved dad spaces in the main fathers and dad subreddits.
I have resulted in creating a space specifically for Bereaved dads.
And a place to share support and information.

Welcome,

My name is Matt and I lost my Son Parker about 3 hours after his birth.
He was born on the 14th of August after 41 weeks, weighing 3.5kg and had a full head of brown hair.
And died shortly after midnight on the 15th of August.
I work in IT as my main profession.
And live in Australia.

My main purpose was to share bereavedfathersday.com with the wider fatherhood community.
And well now we have a subreddit too.

Please feel free to dm or reach out if you have questions.
Otherwise be kind and respectful.
Share as needed and feel free to help others in their journey through grief.

Thanks!
Matt - Parker’s Dad.
