Same, but like in my brain and not on my PC.

And sometimes a tab you havenāt thought of since literally 5 years, pops back in and steals your focus.

Like Wizmo's Workshop, or struggling to find the name of the live action puppet/animated kids show, (The Paz Show) for months.

I'm quite the opposite, I can't have a lot of tabs open. It drives me nuts.
9
u/Oalka Apr 23 '26
When they start scrunching themselves down or shuffling off to one side or another, I know I have too many open.
2
u/Zaconil Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26
Exactly. If you can't see them or the tab description then you won't remember what's there. If I really need more than that then I just open a new window altogether. Atm I have about 3 windows open with about 7 tabs per window. I think the most windows I've had open is 5. I realized how overwhelming it was and closed them all and restarted.
3
u/Berk-Laydee Apr 23 '26
I just can't keep track of any of them and it gets overwhelming and exhausting. When I was in school I needed tabs open for research, blackboard, and stuff. Even then I had the bare minimum I needed.

u/Erikrtheread Apr 23 '26
The whiring noise of my computer fans straining with just my browser open is sort of a sensory trigger. I've learned to just bookmark and toss into the abyss.

Easy. I donāt. Then when I open Amazon Prime the next time Iāll let out a āoh yeahhhhhā. š

u/mirhagk Apr 24 '26
I mean he's not wrong, if the mail is important they'll send another one. If that show is really good, you'll come across it again.
2
u/WilonPlays Apr 24 '26
I donāt watch shows, either itās boring or I hyperfocus on it and spend 36 hours binging it, then I start dreaming about the show and what Iād do if I was a character.
I binged the first few episodes of Dr house, went to bed, woke up the next morning saying āI need to save the patientā.
I just donāt watch shows anymore
4
u/Berk-Laydee Apr 23 '26
If I did that, I would keep it open. But the only things that I watch on a computer is the stuff that my husband and I watch together
3
u/BlueZ_DJ Apr 23 '26
Todoist recurring tasks aren't just for work š£ļø
Also stuff like MyAnimeList & Goodreads have apps where you easily set currently watching/reading
1
u/Bliitzthefox Apr 23 '26
Oh yeah that reminds me I have like 50 bookmarks of things I should check up on fun the past decade
1
u/saeedgnu Apr 24 '26
I organize them in these cases. But usually don't need to. Just bookmark it and later when I start typing the address, it shows them. I never have more than 15 tabs.
1
u/BeastMasterAgent47 Apr 24 '26
I make bookmark folders for shows, yt and other things and open them all when I'm ready to watch a show
3
u/churrmander Apr 24 '26
Same.
I just let my history and site suggestions guide me back on last night's path.
2
u/Shadowkiller00 Apr 23 '26
It's a survival skill for me. If I ever got as far as the picture, I would spiral and crash out. I try to close every tab I use immediately after I'm done with it. If I use it more than a few times in a short period, I'll keep it open. Every month or so, I check my open tabs and close any I haven't touched in recent memory.
Because of this, I usually only have less than a dozen tabs open at any time. Sometimes it's even as few as two or three, gasp!
2
u/DevineConviction Apr 23 '26
Exactly! But you don't want to forget whatever you have open, so you bookmark it into the void of bookmarks before you close it and never look at it again...or at least that's me...
1
u/JesterQueenAnne Apr 24 '26
I'm like that on PC, can't have more than 3 tabs open, but in my phone since there isn't a bar showing them I just forget to close them and I end up with like 20+ tabs open, with many of them being repeated like 3 or 4 times.

4
u/Cybot5000 Apr 24 '26
I try to keep it under 60 so every now and then I do a purge lol
3
u/AGoodFriend_ Apr 24 '26
I used to do 60, but I eventually had more than 60 tabs that I wanted to keep open, so I upped my number to 75.

The 2.2k I have makes me wonder if that's why Firefox randomly and suddenly uses 100% if my ram and freezes my whole PC

u/Grouchy_Bug_9938 Apr 23 '26
I've only ever had 5 tabs open at one time (on my phone and 2 on my laptop for YouTube and twitch) and my emails are immaculate but my also audhd boyfriend has insane tabbage even after he closes some (he tends to open YouTube videos etc into new tabs) but even though that still happens he's thankfully got a browser where its sorted so all those tabs only show when he opens named folders or whatever.
Now one of my best friends was even worse and had tabs she hadn't opened for decades just sitting there (she is undiagnosed so far) which I helped her sort out and now while still bad it is much better, I'm proud of her :)
As for the tabs in my brain, well I doubt those will ever be cleared xD

You just donāt get it:
āThese 15 are over here for the research on trains. These 11 are for the game of PokĆ©mon Iām playing on my 3DS. These 8 are for research into history on Napoleon for my game of Civilization. These 21 are for roller coaster tycoon because I want to know all about amusement park rides. Iāve got three YouTube tabs for calming rain sounds. This is my favorite streamer on twitch. I found this fun flash game and if I close it, I wonāt find it again. Iām planning a trip to NYC co Iām using 35 tabs for maps, flights, hotels, things to do, Reddit for best restaurants, places to avoid, common scams, and price evaluators if Iām getting deals on my flights and hotels. Iām also thinking about starting a PokĆ©mon card collection and Iām trying to learn how to beat the scalpers.ā
Boyfriend probably.

I try to clean mine occasionally so that doesn't happen. I still have a few hundred, but eventually they'll get randomly lost and oh well.

Hard to know how many tabs I have... because its 10 windows that each have anywhere from a few dozen to hundreds of tabs

u/esthergreenwood002 Apr 24 '26
I just went to check my tab count cause I knew it was INSANE but in doing so I found out my new phone update has been erasing inactive tabs after 3 months!! What will I do without those tabs that I was saving ššš

I can close tabs...I just add them to the relevant text channel on my discord server that I use as a personal organizer for my digital life.

imagine having enough ram to have more than 1 window open at a time without lag cries

Currently having (*checks*) 183 open in the current window suddenly doesn't feel so bad.

Nah, that's too many. Growing up with your ADHD is learning that at some point you just have to start randomly closing tabs and accept that you're never going to go back to it.

I bow to the new master of ADHD people...

Throw back to being a kid on the early internet and some kind of adult ad virus enters the computer and just endless opens windows/tabs.
Those were the days.

u/BVRPLZR_ Apr 25 '26
I literally just closed ALL of my tab on accident a few days ago. My browser app is depressing nowā¦

u/VanillaCold57 Apr 25 '26
I make like 20 tabs, spread across 2 windows, and don't even revisit them 99% of the time--

And then later, multiple virtual desktops.
