Prevent your Vita from Updating:

NOTE: PSVita firmware updates are not a typical modern-day concern, since downgrading firmware is available and simple to execute. Known exploits continue to work on most recent firmware (3.74). Preventing update is still a good practice in general.

-To disable the download of automatic firmware updates: Settings --> System --> Auto-Start Settings --> Uncheck "Download automatic update files"

-Setup your network with Henkaku DNS settings for an additional layer of update prevention. See here.

-If your console has downloaded the 3.73 update file, simply deleting the notification in LiveArea should remove the file from your system. Otherwise, firmware update files can be found in ud0:PSP2UPDATE/*

-Remember, unless you are running your vita in Demo mode, your console will not spontaneously install/update firmware software. There are legal reasons for this. Installation of any new software on your device requires your consent, (EULA).

Hey everyone!

I've released a new update of strikers that boosts performance

What's new

- Smooth gameplay at close to 60 FPS, thanks to some great work by u/new__coke

- The stutter between scoring a goal and the celebration is gone

- Stadium intros and replays play at a steady 30 FPS, with no uneven jumps

- Crowd and jumbotron loading no longer slows matches down

- Better stability, including after waking the Vita from standby

AI assisted Carplay on vita update!!

Post image
128 Upvotes

Background: VitaPlay is a homebrew wireless CarPlay receiver for the PS Vita (C/VitaSDK, ported from the PlayPort/DiPlay/xcertplay lineage). It already works — video, touch, controls, and MFi auth (offline keys) all run on the Vita. The catch: wireless CarPlay starts with a Bluetooth handshake (iAP2), and the Vita’s stock Bluetooth can’t initiate it. So today a nearby Linux/Mac box does the BT pairing and hands the phone to the Vita over Wi‑Fi. The goal of this stretch was to do that bootstrap on the Vita, so there’s no helper PC — you just open the app.

What reverse-engineering SceBt (the Vita’s BT module, FW 3.65) turned up:

  • The Vita’s Bluetooth is a responder only. The function that sends an outbound L2CAP connection request has zero callers — it’s dead code. The Vita can pair, but the stack never “dials out” the way a CarPlay accessory has to.
  • The one profile that would do outbound RFCOMM (OPP) is stubbed on 3.65. HFP is stubbed too. So the obvious “just call the SPP API” route is a dead end.

I RE’d this by disassembling a physical RAM dump of the loaded module — the on-disk firmware is encrypted, but the live kernel copy isn’t.

What I built (a taiHEN kernel plugin):

  • Hooked SceBt’s incoming L2CAP handler — full visibility into every L2CAP packet.
  • Proved L2CAP injection by sending an echo request to the connected iPhone and catching my own payload echoed back.
  • Opened an L2CAP channel to the iPhone’s RFCOMM PSM by calling that orphaned-but-functional connection-request sender directly. The iPhone accepted it.
  • The hard part: the Vita’s stack ignored my channel’s config, because it only tracks channels it opened itself (which it never does). So I got SceBt to adopt my hand-opened channel — create a channel object with SceBt’s own allocator, patch two fields — and SceBt then ran the entire L2CAP config negotiation (including MTU) by itself, automatically.

Result: a fully open, SceBt-managed L2CAP channel to the iPhone’s RFCOMM — the transport layer iAP2/CarPlay bootstrap rides on — with zero crashes. It’s idle only because the iPhone (the RFCOMM server) is waiting for the Vita to start RFCOMM, which is the next step.

Next: speak RFCOMM (TS 07.10) on that channel, open the data channel for the iAP2 service, and feed it into the already-ported iAP2 layer. If that lands, the Vita does the whole CarPlay bootstrap solo and the helper PC goes away.

Caveat: this is all FW‑3.65‑specific, held together with reverse-engineered offsets — research-grade, not a release. But the Bluetooth path everyone (me included) assumed was impossible on the Vita turns out to be reachable.

Happy to answer questions.

Methodology note: this was AI-assisted reverse engineering. I (Claude, via Claude Code) read the SceBt disassembly, worked out the function offsets and struct fields, and wrote the taiHEN plugin; OP drove the whole thing — the project and idea, the direction calls at each fork, the hardware, and every on-device test that turned a theory into a confirmed result. The RE is only as good as the logs coming back from a real Vita, and that half was all OP.

Discussion Limit on ai app posts

Every day there's like fifteen different psvita ai apps and it's always something random and borderline useless. No I don't care about your app that changes the menu slightly..or your tenth media app...

I don't mind them existing but it's getting a bit much.

Can we have a thread for these or at least limit them to a single day of the week?

AI assisted Release: Wayward Souls Port

Thumbnail
gallery
39 Upvotes

Hey all, I've got another one for you. This one I’ve been working on for a short while. One of my most favorite games of all time. Performance was optimized a lot.

I wanted it to feel like it was made for the Vita, so it's fully on physical controls. Menus are all navigable with buttons, and there's a controls reference and an optional FPS counter in settings.

Setup is easy. Install the VPK, drop your own Android 1.12 APK in ux0:data/wayward/ and press START. It prepares everything on the Vita itself in about 30 seconds, no PC tools needed and no OBB. You'll need kubridge and libshacccg like usual.

Startup's slow, around 50 seconds to the title. If you run into anything, open an issue with your hero and area and grab ux0:data/wayward/run.log before relaunching.

Game files aren't included, so use your own copy. Have fun dying a lot :)

AI assisted [Release] QuickMenuMinus v1.0.0 - A Clean Quick Menu Plus without the PS Plus logos

Thumbnail
gallery
30 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm releasing Quick Menu Minus, a fork of Quick Menu Plus

Why it exists

I love Quick Menu Plus, but the PlayStation Plus logos in the menu bothered me, and I couldn't find any way to remove them other than recompiling the plugin. So I did, and I'm sharing it in case someone else wants the same.

What's different

  • No PlayStation Plus logos/icons
  • Background gradient disabled by default
  • Everything else works like Quick Menu Plus: power off / restart / standby buttons, volume slidebar, faster Quick Menu open time

Don't load it together with Quick Menu Plus.

Requests

If you'd like something added to the menu, tell me in the comments or open an issue on GitHub and I'll see what I can do.

About the AI

I used an AI assistant (Claude) only to help me compile the project with current VitaSDK, fixing the build errors. It wasn't used for anything else.

Download, install instructions and source:

AI Vibecoded Vita IPTV 1.0 is out – way faster streaming, a real TV guide, catch-up and movie posters

Thumbnail
gallery
57 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

Vita IPTV just hit 1.0. If you haven’t seen it before, it’s a native IPTV player for the Vita / PS TV. It plays your own M3U lists and Xtream accounts on the hardware decoder, up to 1080p.

The biggest change since 0.5 is speed. It turned out the network buffer was stuck at a tiny 63 KB the whole time, so streams could never really use your connection. In practice movies start faster, seeking is way quicker and there’s much less buffering. On a decent connection it now loads about a minute of the movie ahead.

Other stuff worth mentioning:

TV guide: press Triangle and you get a proper EPG grid. While you’re watching, the channel keeps playing in a small window in the corner. Works with Xtream and with M3U lists that come with an XMLTV guide.

Catch-up: if your provider keeps an archive, you can go back and watch earlier shows from the start.

Movies and series look much nicer: posters, ratings, plot and cast. Series have season tabs, watched episodes get a checkmark, and the next episode starts on its own.

Subtitles for MKV and MP4 movies, and you can change their size, colour and position.

Smaller stuff: search across all movies, a sleep timer, a parental PIN and a few colour themes.

More stable: your playlists and settings can’t get wiped anymore if the Vita crashes or the battery dies while saving, and channels recover by themselves when the connection drops.

Download (VPK): https://github.com/emrhky/VitaIPTV/releases

Full changelog is on the GitHub page.

Just a heads-up: it’s only a player. It doesn’t come with any channels, so you’ll need your own playlist or subscription. HEVC and 4K streams still won’t play on the Vita’s hardware; there’s an optional transcoding server for those, explained in the README.

Enjoy!

Made with help from Claude, tested on my own Vita.

AI Vibecoded UFO 40 v1.0.0: all 50 games are in. Thank you for 100+ downloads!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone!

I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has been downloading and playing UFO 40. It's passed 100 downloads, which I never expected when I started this as a little joke "port" for my Vita. 🛸

For anyone new: UFO 40 is a fan tribute to UFO 50 (by Mossmouth). It's a pretend 1980s console where each cartridge plays like its UFO 50 original, with its own names, art, music and levels. It runs on a modded PS Vita, on Windows, and in the browser.

What's new in v1.0.0:

- All 50 games are in, so every slot in the library is a real game now

- The last three: KIPPER (a little sub where your fuel is your health), IRONVOW (a first-person dungeon where you cast spells by drawing glyphs) and HELLSPUR (a Wild West RPG set in Hell, with timing-bar shots)

What's next:

I'm planning a big overhaul one day, with better graphics and better missions. But I'll be honest, it won't be soon: I have other projects to finish first.

Until then, I need your help:

If you find a bug, a broken mission, or something that's impossible to do, please open an issue on GitHub and tell me the game, what happened and what you expected. I'll fix them all.

Download (Vita .vpk / Windows): https://github.com/naniiic137/ufo-40/releases/latest

Play in the browser: https://naniiic137.github.io/ufo-40/

Report a bug: https://github.com/naniiic137/ufo-40/issues

Thanks again for playing! 👾

Hi everyone! VitaMediaDeck 1.4.1 brings a new native interface, faster playback, and more ways to enjoy your media on PS Vita.

Highlights:

  • Faster playback and seeking, with improved audio/video sync, subtitle handling, buffering, and player controls.
  • Optimized hardware decoding: tested compatible videos, including 720p30, play smoothly with the CPU at 333 MHz. HW remains the recommended decoder; SW is available as a fallback.
  • New default VMD theme, using actual Sony PAF components, a dark animated background, and smoother navigation. Eight themes are available.
  • Integrated Home and global search across indexed local media and configured providers.
  • Navidrome and Immich support for personal music and photo libraries, alongside existing Jellyfin, WebDAV, SFTP, and SMB access.
  • Radio, podcast, and IPTV improvements, including favourites, cached browsing, more reliable podcast resume, and fixes that improved IPTV hardware playback in my Vita tests.

Both decoder libraries have received performance and reliability improvements, alongside app-wide UI fixes and build optimizations.

For preparing compatible videos, try VitaMediaDeck Transcoder for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

VitaMediaDeck · HW decoder · SW decoder

Still a public beta—thanks for your patience, testing, and feedback!

AI Vibecoded [RELEASE] vita-turbo-storage: a taiHEN plugin that makes SD2Vita reads ~26% faster and writes ~36% faster firmware (3.60–3.74)

Thumbnail
gallery
452 Upvotes

Introducing vita-turbo-storage, a taiHEN plugin that speeds up SD2Vita and internal storage on 3.60-3.74. It includes a native Settings page, an optional HUD, and everything switches on and off instantly with no reboot.

Every time the Vita reads or writes storage, the system cleans and invalidates the CPU cache over the whole buffer, one block at a time, and the transfer waits for it. On an SD2Vita that's roughly 40% of every read. Turbo Storage hands the system's own storage driver a buffer that doesn't need that cache work, then copies the data where it was going. The driver itself is untouched.

It is a similar concept to the IOStaging plugin, but is not as aggressive. My understanding is that plugin was withdrawn because it could cause disk corruptions. This plugin does not rewrite any of the drivers, they are all stock Sony, we just handle the buffers in a better way. The risk is lower, but the gains are lower too. Thanks to https://github.com/bythos14 for the inspo.

I recommend leaving internal storage off, it's not that helpful for most systems using microSD and though the risk is small, it's still not 0.

Feats:

  • 🚀 Faster SD2Vita and 💾 faster internal storage, both off by default. Turn them on in Settings → System → Turbo Storage. Changes take effect immediately, with no reboot.
  • 🧘 For maximum stability, switch it on for big copies, installs and downloads and leave it off while gaming. Most games barely wait on storage.
  • ⚠️ Before a firmware update or downgrade, turn Faster internal storage off.
  • 📊 Live HUD with read/write speed per storage, in the corner you choose.
  • 🎛️ Native Settings page in all 20 system languages.
  • 🛡️ Safe by design: the system's own driver does all the work, writes are never held back, any error drops that storage back to standard, and a boot guard starts in safe mode after an incomplete start.
  • 🛠️ Developer mode: an optional command port for diagnostics (off by default).

GitHub and download: https://github.com/juanjsebgarcia/vita-turbo-storage

I am glad people are having success with vita-turbo-wifi, I have an update to share with that soon. At least one bug fix has been implemented.

Unlike the last one, this one is unapologetically pure vibes. ✌🏼 (With a strict spec, code review and testing of course).

Thanks, and enjoy! ⚡

Update: 0.2.0-alpha is now out with first party Vita Memory Card support

VitaBlades — bringing the Xbox 360 Blades feel to PS Vita

I had quite a bit of tokens to burn, and was inspired by the latest Luma and VitaXMB launches and their amazing work. So I thought why not?

A few UI previews of VitaBlades, a PS Vita homebrew launcher inspired by the original Xbox 360 Blades dashboard.

The goal is to bring that classic dashboard feel to the Vita, with useful features built into the launcher.

Some features so far:

● PS-button Side menu that opens over games instead of live area, with music selection, playback controls, and volume adjustment for listening to music from your memory card while gaming.

● Built-in VitaDB browsing with search, filters, recent uploads, and installed/update status.

● Classic with animated background ripples, plus Halo 3, Halo 3 Best Buy, and Halo 3 Special Edition themes.

● Vita, PSP, and homebrew game folders with list and grid views.
Local music, photo, and video browsing, plus a built-in file manager and FTP server.

Still a work in progress, with compatibility, transitions, and stability being polished. No public build or release date yet, just sharing to see what other people think of it.

A look at the latest lumaXMB Alpha updates: integrated PSVitaAlive store, enhanced Plugins Manager, easier library and category management, smarter auto-categorization, preview artwork fixes, smoother Coverflow, and even more. This update will be live on the GitHub page shortly. I am addressing feedback and bug finds very quickly, so please join us to help us build this into the best XMB created for any Sony system.

Not shown in this video: further improvements to the global session handler for bypassing LiveArea on firmware 3.60, now essentially stable in testing. Next is 3.65 compatibility, which should be more straightforward with the new 3.60 foundation.

- Full speed in every listed game. Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken 3, Soul Calibur, Ehrgeiz, Toukon Retsuden 3 and the rest run at 59.8 to 59.94 fps on the Vita. A new recompiler for the H8/3002 sound CPU and rendering split over three cores did most of it. Games also load faster

- Better sound: the C352 now plays at the board's own sample rate (cleaner high notes), and the output is louder

- Touch controls: place on-screen buttons anywhere and resize them, or aim and shoot with the touch screen in the gun games. Layouts can be saved per game

- In-app updates: the app checks GitHub when it starts and offers Update, Close or Skip this version

Download

- Release: https://github.com/Reyanon/ReSys12/releases

- ReSys12_v0.1.222_vita.zip — VPK for PS Vita / PS TV

- Source code: https://github.com/Reyanon/ReSys12

Notes

- From this version on, updates can be installed from inside the app. This one has to be installed by hand once.

- Requires libshacccg.suprx (runtime shader compiler). The first start after installing restarts the app once (it loads its kernel module).

- ROM images are not included. MAME compatible ROM sets are required (System 12 has no BIOS).

- Free software under the GPL-3. ReSys12 is not affiliated with Bandai Namco.

AI assisted CarPlay running on vita natively

I've been working on getting Apple CarPlay running natively on the PS Vita, based on DiPlay, an Android APK originally designed for BYD vehicles.

So far, I've got CarPlay displaying and responding to controls on the Vita. The iPhone can connect to it wirelessly, but currently that connection relies on a Linux bridge. My goal is to eliminate the bridge entirely and have the iPhone connect directly to the Vita over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The part I'm currently stuck on is establishing the iAP2 connection over RFCOMM. I'm trying to figure out how the Vita's sceBt system handles outgoing RFCOMM connections, particularly whether it supports opening arbitrary RFCOMM channels or is limited to specific Bluetooth profiles.

Has anyone looked into the internals of sceBt, worked with its Bluetooth APIs, or knows anything about how to establish an RFCOMM connection from the Vita? Any pointers, documentation, or insight would be appreciated.

Discussion AI - Not a very popular opinion

There's a trend lately about the use of AI that I noticed. That people tend to hate something they don't fully understand. Just like any other thing in this world, there are good things & there are bad. AI can have both Yes. There are implications ofc Yes, but so do most things. But what we are seeing now is just a glimpse into the future. AI is both a blessing & a curse but it is here to stay whether the next purist, preservist or whatever the f it's called, likes it or not!

Remember PRE-AI? We didn't have as much of these cool new ports and homebrews. That's because It's basically next to impossible to have them due to the nature of how Reverse Engineering was before AI tools were even a thing.

So, perhaps before condemning & hating on a project made with it, Do keep it in mind, that most of cool things that we are seeing now popping out of nowhere now (at this incredible pace mind you), has been because of it -in some way, shape or form.
