Hey Reddit! We’re the UT housing office, AMA about Arranging Housing for International students! 🙌
This week (26 October - 30 October) we will be answering your questions on Reddit about housing at the UT as an International (non-EU/EEA student).
Between 7 December - 11 December we will be doing an AMA for any questions about housing for European (EU/EEA) students!
If you see this post after any of these dates, feel free to send your questions to [studentservices@utwente.nl](mailto:studentservices@utwente.nl)
We’ll first outline how housing for International students is arranged. If you have any specific questions, ask them below and we will answer!
————————————————————
As an admitted International student, you will receive a guaranteed housing offer for your first year of study with UT. A guaranteed housing offer means that we will present you with suitable housing contracts for your first year of studying, so that you do not have to arrange housing yourself.
You’re eligible for the guaranteed housing offer if you:
- Join UT for the first time
- Do not currently live in the Netherlands or the EU/EEA
- Need a visa and/or residence permit
You’ll receive your guaranteed housing offer on the housing platform “Roomspot”. We will communicate it as the “Special Offer available via Roomspot” by e-mail, only after the UT has processed your:
Once you’ve met all requirements, you’ll receive an email to create a Roomspot account and finalise a Housing Questioner in Osiris. Osiris is the student information system at UT that you will be invited to when you apply.
How Roomspot and accepting the Special Offer works;
- log in to your Roomspot account and select "Special Offer UT”. This will bring you to an overview of housing options that you select from based on your preferences. Make sure you choose between 10-15 houses based on your preferences and budget.
- Processing may take up to 3 weeks, but eligible students will receive their latest housing offer by 31 July (for September Intake) or 15 January (for February Intake). Rest assured that your application is in good hands, and we will keep you informed throughout the process.
- NOTE: First-year guaranteed housing is for individual students only. It is not suitable for partners, children, or families.
Important deadlines:
- September intake: Complete your payments by 30 June and sign up for Roomspot before 31 June
- February intake: Complete your payments by 30 November and sign up before 15 January. If you miss the deadline, UT can no longer guarantee your housing offer
