Tips for Rebuilding Team
I play for a college women’s rugby team that just restarted last spring (7s). It was my first time ever playing and I fell in love with it. We only had five girls and one graduated. This fall we had our first 15s season and got 13 girls to commit to the games and 18 to practices.
We just finished our season and I’m hoping to continue with optional practices over the off season, but I’d have to lead them as our coaches have been flakey DURING the season. Like I said I’m new to the sport so I’m looking for advice on what to do/focus on. I was our scrum half for 15s and was told that’ll likely be my position in 7s as well, so any specific tips on that are welcome too!
I want to develop as a player in all aspects. My cardio and speed aren’t the greatest so I really want to work on that. I’ve watched a bunch of 15s film to learn scrum half and I plan to do the same for 7s. I want to be the best I can be so I can help the other girls on the team improve if they want to. They can’t rely on their coaches so I want them to be able to rely on me.
So please any tips/drills are welcome!!
