Brigantys castle
I can only see South and West options here. Anyone know what’s another option and how to go to that option?

Hey everyone! You might not be aware of this, but we actually have a community discord for this subreddit, and our other SRPG subreddits that we run. If you're interested here's the link: SRPG Discord
We also run the main SRPG Subreddit if you haven't checked it out yet!

Hello Knights. With the release of Tactics Ogre: Reborn, it is a good time to examine the series as a whole. Although this subreddit is dedicated to Tactics Ogre, it goes hand-in-hand with Ogre Battle. Below are some general questions that will help guide you through the entire series -
List of games (in order of original release)
Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen (MotBQ)
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (LUCT)
Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber (PoLC)
Ogre Battle Gaiden: Prince of Zenobia (PoZ)
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis (KoL)
Which games were released in English? Ogre Battle Gaiden was the only release to not make it to the west. Otherwise, all have been officially translated in English
What order should you play? Personally, I like to play them in series chronological order. KoL -> MotBQ -> PoZ -> LUCT -> PoLC. MotBQ & PoZ and LUCT & PoLC take place at the same times, so they can be flipped if you choose this way. Otherwise, MotBQ & LUCT are good starting points.
Will I miss out on story if I play in a different order? Not really, though I say this with some hesitation. There is an overarching plot to the series, but each game is a self-contained story. There are also some characters that appear in multiple games. Aside from some flavor, I don't think you would miss out by playing a sequel first. Prince of Zenobia is the only one that I can't say for certain, as I have not spent much time with the story.
How do the games play? The three Ogre Battle games play similarly to grand RTS games, whereas the two Tactics Ogre games play like traditional SRPGs (think grid-based combat). They are larger scaled, so battles can take some time. The games are also heavy on unit customization, so expect to spend some time in menus. All of that being said, each game has its specific nuances.
What is the setting of the series? The games are set in a traditional fantasy setting with limited technology. Only PoZ and MotBQ take place in the same place, so you get to see a few different countries throughout the world. There is also some in-game lore that expands beyond what is shown in the game.
What were some of the inspirations behind the series? Yasumi Matsuno, the series creator, enjoyed quite a bit of pop culture which lent to the series. The main title and some of the subtitles are taken directly from Queen songs. He also used some imagery from Flash Gordon (Vartans) and other films. He also drew heavy inspiration from real events, specifically the Yugoslav Wars. This inspired some of the darker portions of the game's narrative.
When will there be a new game in the series? There is no news of a new entry to the series. Hopefully Reborn will lead to a new entry, but it remains to be seen.
This was a pretty general overview of a very rich series. If you are interested, there are many interviews that contain information regarding the series development. Otherwise, feel free to ask questions below and we will try to answer them.

As I understand it, if you fight and beat CODA4 with just Denam, Catiua, and Vyce, you get a CHANCE at an upgraded Brynhildr dropping. But why? CODA4 is supposed to be the final content. There isn't anything after it or harder, unless there is other content I'm unaware of. So what is the point in trying to get this equipment? If you want to do the fight as a challenge for prestige, sure, knock yourself out. But trying to farm the loot seems completely pointless as there's nothing to use it on afterwards.

Things guides didn't tell me:
No, she's not alone! She has a whole team with her. She's lvl 60 with 4 cards, the rest is lvl 55 while the player team is locked at 40. The enemies were dragons, beast tamers with empower dragon, terror knights and archers. The enemy team is loaded with pesky orbs, esp. Breach and Frighten. They're also all Deathproof (immune to disabling debuffs/CC).
You can scout the battle to see if she spawned and retreat-farm for her spawn.
This means you can chariot farm the loot! (But she dropped everything anyway, idk if lucky or guaranteed on first kill?)
You have to exorcise her to get the loot. Good I always carry Starfall on Catiua because I unequipped exorcism from my Cleric in favour of resurrection (it was needed, a lot).
She's air element and she really loved to bully my Oelias (earth element) hitting her for 80% of HP per shot.
The fire archers loved to use charm shot on my Ozma (ice element).
The difficulty of this fight was comparable to some harder San Bronsa fights (these tend to have loads of Angels with orbs somehow too...)
Anyway, it was a fun challenge! It did deplete my stash of healing items a bit. (Anyone knows what's the best spot to farm Hallowed Stones?)
This was on Reborn btw, no idea if there are big differences between versions.
Now something I don't know and wanted to ask... can these bosses spawn multiple times in a POTD run, as they have 4 different spawn points? Or once they're killed, they won't reappear for this run?

On my first playthrough, completelly blind just obtained two white knights. Isnt that just "knight but better"? I kinda wanted to keep my knight on the team but i cant even change her class to WK.

Hi everyone,
I have been playing this old game, as stress relief. So I've read up some guides, and understood how Waiting Time between turns work.
Is it true that weapons with lower attack are preferred, because they have less RT, so your turn comes quicker? I have looked at the relic weapons, and the RT is so huge that I really wonder if the extra 20 attack makes as much of a difference as a faster character.
So I just wonder if anyone's end game build opt for lower level weapons. The highest damage ones seem to have disproportionate wait time penalties.
Thanks!

Hi, I’m trying to recruit Cressida but seems like my ‘chaos frame’ is not in the right spot. I’m not sure if it need to be low (since some sources mentioned doing dead marches’. But some others seem to refer increasing it. Also, how do I check how much chaos frame I have?
Thank you

I've been playing this for the first time lately and up until this point it has been a little tough here and there but I've been holding my own and pushing through.
Now, though, I've hit a wall. I'm on the Ramidos and Xapan fight and getting my butt straight handed to me. Two healers All-healing all my damage, three powerful mages constantly nuking me and a few terror knights and assorted archers and melee. I just can't hit enough units to punch through before my damage is just healed and they mash up into a melee that Ramidos hides behind. Is this supposed to be this difficult?
My party is all level 12-13 which seems even with them, am I supposed to be higher at this point? Did I fall behind along the line? I dunno, a few battles ago I was feeling OP. If anyone could give any suggestions I'd appreciate it.
My team is 2 spellblades, 2 mages, 2 terror knights, a warrior, a monk, a necromancer and Canopus as Vartan, with one of the mages and terror knights being undead. I try to cover buffs and debuffs, but I dunno what I could be doing better.

I'm playing Reborn and have been trying to do EVERYTHING. I finally cleared all 3 timelines and recruited the uniques along each route. Chaos was my final route that I took into CODA. Did episode 1 and got Iuria then got the trigger to go find Warren in PotD. Now in my previous timelines, I only went as far as PotD 24 to get the intial draconic spells and I did PotD 1-6 in Chaos pre Hanging Gardens so that I could farms some relics to grab Deneb.
So I saw Nybeth turn into a lich but then went on to beat Hanging Gardens as I was under the impression PotD was a CODA dungeon for deep dive. We now that I'm in CODA2, I just hit level 22 and didn't see any story mission, though the guides say it should be. So now reading further it looks like I HAVE to do PotD 1-100 before Hanging Gardens.
If I warp back to my CH4 anchor and do PotD 1-100 to get Nybeth's story, how much content am I going to have to redo? Should I keep pushing floors in CODA to get a certain milestone that will let me do floor jumps or get certain gear before warping back to CH4? Or should I just bite the bullet and jump to right before Hanging Gardens and start running PotD?

And i only say “near” because surely some of you have figured it out. I have no fucking clue what’s happening though lmao, and it’s finally starting to bug me. I understand the backstory, and watched the intro cutscene. I’ve listened to a podcast that explained it all too. So I got that.
but the plot, the actual plot that happens in game, is so fucking incomprehensible that it’s honestly kind of baffling. I understand I’m supposed to be reading the warren report every two seconds, but it’s so unintuitive. a pre-battle cutscene may introduce like5 new characters, then there’s a hr long battle with more new characters, then another cutscene with more new charcters. at what point should i look at the warren report? AFTER all that? why the fuck can we not look at it during cutscenes? seems asinine to me. i honestly can’t remember the names from one second to the next, let alone after a long battle.
i’m in chapter 3 of the chaotic path and the amount of names and regions is ridiculous. it’s not fun, it’s not interesting. i’m getting to the point where i’m just going to start skipping cutscenes. i think im fighting now to like, end the concept of fighting? cause i’m not fighting for walister anymore, i guess? seems like everyone i’ve ever met in this game is now against me. i keep letting neutral characters die because i cant figure out a) why their ai is so fucking suicidal or b) who the fuck they are or who they’re supposed to be representing. i just did brigantyn castle and yeah, no fucking clue what’s happening. barbatos, bapal, xaephos, xenobia, dark knights, holy knights, i can’t fucking follow a goddamn thing.
no real question here, just venting. i REALLY love the gameplay on hand here, it’s so fucking meaty and customizable. but i’m about to give up and go play unicorn overlord cause boy this shit is making me feel like a fucking idiot and giving me a headache.
EDIT:
just went to look at some character bios to see if maybe i’m missing something. the warren report biographies aren’t even in fucking alphabetical order! just randomly thrown in there, like “fuck you go find it”. no, game. fuck you.

I keep everyone pretty consistently around the same level, rn it's about 40. Atm I want to level up all the lower level units, unlock some chars, do different storylines, etc. I've done POTD, San Bronsa, etc. The challenge is certainly there, but not suffocating since my core squads are pretty good, and I like that. During battles, I can have one or two useless units I'm babysitting (just to level them up).
Anyway, the question - 10 levels later at 50 (max) will it essentially scale to be more of the same so long as I try to have decent gear or will the experience change? Just a reminder this is not Reborn I'm referring to. Ty!

Why is beast tamer so bad am i doing something wrong
I got 3 different people with "recruit" skills, none of them seem to work. I understand the wizard failing to use "Coax". Its OK, it can compensate with magic. Im OK when my cleric failes to use "recruit". Its a cleric. A waste of skill points, but the cleric is strong af and can afford to waste a few points
But this useless bum of a beast tamer deals terrible damage no matter wich weapon skill i try, cant tank, cant use spells, takes till lv 3 to have enough points for one simple tame skill, then fails to tame every single beast i try to tame
Am i building them wrong? I got the whole anatomy thing to up the cleric's chance, beat up the human enemies till theyre at idk 5 health, and then fail to recruit them. OK. I focused on healing with this guy. Then i beat up lizard people till low HP, cant coax them despite herpology. OK. The wizard has lots of magic damage and very powerfull AOE crown control. But the beast tamer? How is he doing nothing? Cannot tank, cannot deal damage, cannot control the crowd, cannot buff others, cant heal, waste all skill points on taming, and then tame nothing. Am i doing something wrong?

Hello folks. I just want to throw in my 2 cents on Draconic Magic. In the PSP version items call Wyrm Gems were required to cast them. However Reborn done away with all that making casting them a little easier. Despite that even the low tier nukes sucks up a substantial amount of MP to cast. Thought these spells are flashier than the basic spells, the damage they inflict is only a little more potent but IMO not worth the MP.
There is a spell that is an exception however and that is Starfall. 😎👍🏿 Starfall can incinerate undead outright without them being stilled. This spell even low tier renders anyone capable of casting it an exceptional force against Phantom (undead) and Zombified units. Thus anyone capable of casting Starfall should have in their arsenal. If anyone has anything to add or critique feel free to chime in. 😎👍🏿

First off, just wanna say I am loving revisiting this game. I played it back when it first came out, and I was just a dumb kid, so I'm excited to stink my teeth in now that I'm supposedly a big smart adult.
Speaking of being a big smart adult, I can't figure out some control stuff with mouse and keyboard (I'm playing on PC).
In the shop, how do I view which classes can equip which weapons easily? There should be a little sub-menu, I believe, but I don't see it anywhere in the Options.
Also, at what point can I buy Concentrate for my Enchantress, dangit!? I wanna put people to sleep!
Thanks all!

Help me understand when and why you would run either of these classes (outside of a victory condition to get the reward). Warrior has a couple unique skills, but it still feels like quite a lot of other classes out perform him. You want a tank? Get a Hoplite, a Knight, or a White Knight with a shield. You want dps? Get pretty much every other melee class out there. I don't really see a spot where Warrior edges out over other classes.
Wizard is the same issue sort of, except it is completely upscaled by Warlock. Outside of the lizard recruit skill (which several other classes have) Warlock can do everything Wizard can do, plus more weapon option and spell options. I'm sure there is something there, I just don't see what it is.
EDIT: This is for TO Reborn.

Wondering if anyone has seen this romhack?
I found it randomly while looking for different revisions of the original game, it was bundles with all the revisions. No documentation was included at all.
I was able to patch with the Aeon Genesis English patch and it hasn't crashed out on me yet.
So far I've only noticed a few differences and can't find any reference material on it.
You don't get a chance to act in the first battle vs Lans and group.
Canopus has Tornado as an ability.
Ranger weapons ranges changed.
Exorcism has a percentage change to hit, exorcises non-stiller undead.
Short bow range is 2-3, down from 2-5.
Ranged crits have knock back(I think that's new? Needs investigation).
Game hangs and gets stuck when Nybbas escapes in the Fort Kadoriga battle.(Maybe emulator error, saved sram and restarted everything, worked without issue).
Sisteena has slightly better Stats when you first see her, higher str and agi.

So i was capturing and auctioning unique monsters partly for the unique character quest but alos to unlock all the items and it just occurred to me. When you auction off a dragon or beast, it let's you then buy food that give small permanent stat buffs......
ARE THEY BUTCHING THE MONSTERS I AUCTION OFF AND SELLING THEIR MEAT BACK TO ME TO EAT? WTFFFFFFF.... Some of the dialogue when you auction them is already sad as fuck but man.....

Hi, I was trying to farm relic drops in POTD today for the first time, and a monster I killed kept dropping a green tarot card despite doing chariot rewind with different actions everytime. Is it useless to do Chariot rewind if the monster drops a tarot card? I tried it like 10 times already and it always dropped a card and not loot.

In TO Reborn, if I recruit say Deneb or Azelstan in Neutral and then move over to Lawful, do I have to redo their recruitment quests to carry that logic into CODA? And followup, if the former is a Yes, if I go from Neutral to Lawful and then into Chaos (to cover everything) is there any point in bothering with rerecruitment during Lawful (as I'd just have to redo it once again in Chaos)?
r/Tactics_Ogre • u/ChaosBuckle • 23d ago
Playing Reborn and needless to say, been pretty impressed with how much of an absolute unit these guys are on the enemy's side so looking to get some of my own.
I've had a lot of bad luck trying to recruit them in story missions so thought I would give it a shot on some easier maps where things aren't as tense but all the training ones I've been to so far only seem to produce human enemies.

Which cards should my monsters and dragons pick up to enhance their special attacks? Are dragon and beast breath attacks considered spells so they benefit from Magic buff cards, for example?
Please forgive me if this has been asked before. I can't seem to find a similar post on this subreddit. Thank you!
