I’m probably around 6 DPO, based on Natural Cycles’ prediction, my Oura Ring temperature data, and what I believe was my first real period after having my Mirena IUD removed.
About 7–8 days ago, I had what looked like a positive OPK. To the naked eye, the test line looked about as dark as the control line, even though the app didn’t necessarily score it as fully positive. There also seemed to be a clear build-up in the days leading up to that test - the line gradually got darker and eventually became really dark - so at the time it genuinely looked like an LH surge to me.
That also seemed to line up with my other ovulation signs. Since then, everything seems to suggest that I’m now in my luteal phase: my temperature went up and has stayed higher, my breasts are noticeably swollen/sore, and I’ve had some lower abdominal cramping.
But I just took another ovulation test today (photo attached), and it is VERY positive. The test line is extremely dark, which I really wasn’t expecting if I’m already around 6 DPO.
Has anyone experienced a very strong positive OPK around 6 DPO and then turned out to be pregnant? I know OPKs aren’t pregnancy tests, but I’ve read that LH tests can sometimes react to hCG because the hormones are structurally similar.
Could this potentially be an early pregnancy sign, or is it more likely that I ovulated later than I thought / am having a second LH surge, despite the temperature shift and other luteal-phase signs?
Would love to hear from anyone who has experienced something similar!
