need recommendations for siding and painting here in Roswell

the siding on my house has started looking pretty rough, with some boards looking worn and a few spots where the paint is peeling and fading. i had some painting done a while back, but it didn't hold up as well as i expected, so i don't want to make the same mistake again.

looking to get the siding checked out and have the exterior repainted. anyone know a good local company they've had a good experience with? appreciate any recommendations! tenxs

Historic Masonic Lodge Update

In 2024, Roswell planned to tear down the historic Masonic Lodge on Alpharetta Street.

Now the city has taken the first step toward turning it into a live music and performing arts venue.

Council voted 5-0 to let the Roswell Development Authority start negotiating with a developer. The city’s cost so far is capped at $30,000, and no deal is final until council votes on the lease.

Would you go to a show here?

West “versus” East Roswell

I swear I come in peace. I have heard about a West “versus” East Roswell where residents reside in two different camps, but it’s like based off of class? Am I getting this right? I am not familiar with the area and genuinely curious of what the history of this is.

GA House District 49 - Democratic candidate Sara Fuchs

Hi Roswell! I’m Sara Fuchs, the Democratic candidate for Georgia House District 49.

I’m a librarian and a PTA mom. I grew up in east Cobb, and my husband and I have lived in Roswell for ten years. We have two sons in 7th and 8th grade at our public middle school.

For most of the last six years, I worked at the State Capitol as chief of staff and campaign manager for Rep. Betsy Holland so I know how state government works. I also know it does not feel like the government is working for us.

I’ve also had a front-row seat as our opponent, a 23-year incumbent, voted the wrong way on the issues that matter most: underfunding our public schools, blocking healthcare access, and standing against reproductive freedom.

If you have kids in schools, you might know, like I do, that positions have been cut, classes are too big, and you are always being asked to raise money. My opponent says that schools are fully funded - I say he has no idea what he's talking about. He says he's lowered taxes - Fulton County Schools is raising its millage rate for the first time in seven years. He's just passing the buck and we're the ones paying the price.

You can learn more about my campaign here:

https://www.saraforgeorgia.com/

Voting:
• Early voting runs through Friday, October 30, and you can vote at any early voting site in Fulton County.
• On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, you must vote at your assigned precinct.
• Details: https://www.saraforgeorgia.com/how-to-vote

I’m happy to answer questions about my campaign and my positions in the comments!

Ladies, does anyone know where Charlotte from Salon de la Vie went?

She only cut my hair twice, but I hate to start over looking for someone else. I was happy to find someone who did a great job after I moved here.

Where do the 20-somethings in Roswell go?

I (23F) recently moved to the Roswell/Sandy Springs area and I’m really liking the city, but I’d like to make new friends and explore more places. I love food/cooking, music, shopping, and anything arts and crafts related. Some recommendations for things to do and places to go would be greatly appreciated. If you’re around my age feel free to reach out to me directly!

It’s hazy everywhere near RHS and has an odd chemical smell in the air

EDIT: whatever it is out there is giving me a headache so if you are sensitive to that kind of thing, stay indoors

Kayak loading accident and help

Post image
65 Upvotes

While loading my kayak (17') on my car, it slipped. It's a heavy wooden boat and it landed on me and knocked me down, tearing my driver side mirror off on the way down. I was not hurt too badly but I was stunned for 30 seconds or so. I don't remember if it was 4 or 5 young women who ran up and checked on me to see if I was all right. One helped me load the boat!

If any of them are on Reddit, I just wanted to say again, thank you so much! I can't tell you how grateful I am for the help!

I'm a little sore, rolled on the fall and the boat rolled about 9 or 10 times and got a little gash in it. I decided to replace the mirror myself and when I get all I need I'm going to fix the boat and get back out in the water! I'm never going to that same location again. Willeo Park

Yard signs for candidates

I'm having a hard time finding valid links for yard signs (getting nothing but scammy links asking for a donation or just flat out selling them).

I recall someone locally who was distributing them for multiple dem candidates but I can't find it now.

Looking for signs for anyone on the Dem ballot (that are relevant for Roswell that is).

Thanks!

Plans for Holcomb bridge to GA 400

Has anybody seen what the plan is for Holcomb bridge road and GA 400? It seems like they are adding a lane on Holcomb bridge road but I had read somewhere they are going to build a connector from Warsaw road to across GA 400.

Carpet installer recommendations for stairs?

We're replacing the carpet on our stairs, upstairs hallway, and a couple bedrooms. The stairs are what I'm worried about most since whoever installed the current carpet did a pretty sloppy job. Really don't wanna deal with that again.

Has anyone used 50 Floor around Roswell recently, especially for stairs? Also open to other recommendations. Mainly looking for someone who does clean work and doesn't surprise you with a bunch of extra charges halfway through.

Free Roswell Tool that Could Save You 1,000's

Roswell has a free tool that texts you when your home is using an unusual amount of water. It's called AquaHawk Alerting, and it caught a hose I left running at the spigot before the damage got a lot worse.

If you're a Roswell Water Utility customer, the few minutes it takes to set up could be well worth it.

Roswell's Next Big Project

Roswell has a right of first refusal to buy the former Independence High School campus for $9 million.

That's 5.4 acres right between Canton Street and the historic Town Square.

The goal isn't to make money on the land. It's to control what gets built on one of the most important sites near downtown.

What would you want to see here?

I was taking a walk down Hightower last night and saw this near the entrance to the water tower. I know kids can be picky and there were times when mine were younger and dropped something they loved and we never found it.

I picked it up and left it on the bollard or whatever there
