Accessions/OML/Branching FY27 Branch Commandant Ratings Release Megathread

It's LP/P/MP time again ya'll. Be civil in the comments and don't post any master lists.

The subreddit holds the position that BRADSOs should be avoided unless going for Cyber. See our reasoning here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ROTC/s/0sGAosG6FD

In the interest of making it easy for people to do "analysis" or whatever, please format your comments similar to the below example:

OMS: 00.xxx // OML: xxxx

MP: [branches]
P: [branches]
LP: [branches]

[Personal Thoughts here]

Accessions/OML/Branching FY27 Component Release and OML Rankings Megathread

Components have been released!

Usual rules apply - do not suggest or outright post any sort of master list. When you provide your AD-eligible/Guard/Reserve status, also provide your censored OML, e.g. 15XX / 61.XX

Accessions/OML/Branching Branching PA

Due to the limited allocations for the newly established PA branch, only 10 cadets will be selected during the initial selection cycle. Although 47 cadets may be designated as “Most Preferred,” only 10 will ultimately receive selection, making the process extremely competitive. Cadets will be evaluated based on leadership potential, academic performance, physical fitness, and overall officer potential. Final selections will depend on available allocations and official Army guidance.

Joining ROTC Boarded Status

Does anyone know what the status boarded mean? Is that the same as "boarded/under consideration"? Does this mean I am going to the next board in January?

For context I just got an update today saying I was boarded and I was confused on what everyone was saying it meant.

Commissioning/Post-Commissioning Can't access IPPSA anymore?

Commissioned May 2026, still waiting on BOLC, AD

Can't even log on to IPPSA anymore to check for orders, since it seems to now require a government computer or government network access? How am I supposed to access my HR stuff when I haven't even been given my first duty station yet?

I'm probably being silly and just missing something, but if anyone has any guidance I would greatly appreciate it.

Scholarships/Contracting AROTC National Scholarship First Board Decisions?

Wondering if anyone has heard back already from the first board for the national arotc scholarships. On my portal it says "Boarded" which makes me assume I am postponed to the next boards but I just didn't think they would come out already so not sure what this means?

Anyone else hear back yet?

DODMERB // Security Clearances dodmerb

hello guys, i’m currently filling out my medical history on the dodmerb page in order to schedule an appointment. there is this one question that’s kind of making me nervous. i’m thinking of talking to my roo and get his advice as well but not sure if it’s a good idea. the question asks about self-inflicted injury… these self injuries were in high school about 5 years ago. i don’t think they’re that noticeable unless you’re looking closely and truthfully i have been in a better mental space for quite a while now. i don’t want to be disqualified and i don’t even know if i would be able to get a waiver. i don’t know what my questions are? does this mean i will have to drop ROTC? and what goes on during the exam? is there a chance the scars won’t even be noticed? for context i have them on my thigh. please don’t judge or look down lol just asking for any honesty. thank you! i really like the program and i honestly do not want to get kicked out. i hope i dont.
edit- or does anyone have a similar situation and can give me guidance on how it went or what did you do to be able to stay in.

Scholarships/Contracting Question on Minuteman / GRFD Scholarship timeline for ARNG/ SMP please respond

I am a High School Senior planning to enlist in the Army National Guard (11B) after graduation, complete OSUT, and then enter college for Army ROTC on an SMP track.

I have a few specific questions regarding the Minuteman / GRFD scholarship process:

  1. What is the ideal timeline for securing a Minuteman nomination letter from a unit or recruiter relative to attending BCT/AIT? Should this be locked in before enlisting, or while at the unit?

  2. How does the Professor of Military Science (PMS) interview process work for high school applicants pursuing a dedicated Guard GRFD path vs. the regular national scholarship board?

3.For anyone who did the Guard enlistment + ROTC SMP route, is there anything you wish you knew about managing college start dates with OSUT schedules?

If you have any questions regarding stats please lmk!

Cadet Internships/Schools Airborne school

Is airborne school worth it?

If getting an injury while landing could be career ending, why would anyone participate in the program?

I want to do it but it's gonna be a gamble.. Any insight would be appreciated

Advanced/Basic Camp Anyone bring an aftermarket ruck to Advanced Camp?

For anyone who’s been through ROTC Advanced Camp recently, are cadets allowed to bring their own aftermarket rucks instead of the standard issued MOLLE ruck?
I’m considering getting a better ruck for FTXs and ruck marches, but I’m wondering if I’d actually be allowed to use it at Advanced Camp.
Did you see anyone using aftermarket rucks, like Mystery Ranch, Crossfire, or other brands? Or was everyone required to use their issued ruck?
Just trying to figure out if it’s worth investing in one before camp. Appreciate any insight.

Joining ROTC ROTC

Hey!

So I was planning on enlisting back in December but the Air Force was too full at the time so then I waited some time and am now in college, my college only does army ROTC. I decided to join that so I could get my degree and also join the military. I always hear good things about the air force but I would love to hear positive things about the Army as well, especially from women who are in it but anyone is welcome to comment any ROTC tips and comments about it.

Accessions/OML/Branching Cyber MP comments

For cadets who were most preferred for Cyber, did they leave a comment?

I got MPed, and they wrote, "excellent candidate for cyber branch." I was wondering if it was just a generic copy-and-paste, like some of the other branches' comments.

Joining ROTC Are there any ROTC programs which allow you to take your academic classes online?

Long story short I work evening-night shift and while I really want to do ROTC I would need some flexibility just to get enough sleep in every day.

So I was wondering if it's possible to do ROTC but with all or mostly online classes. Also perhaps it would be more affordable as well (I'm not sure on that one).

Thanks so much in advance.

Joining ROTC Question about SMP program

I have a question for any National Guard recruiters or maybe some PMSs who might be able to help answer this. I recently graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree, but I’ve been considering pursuing a second bachelor’s degree in a slightly different field. I previously took ROTC classes but never attended CST. Would it be possible to contact a National Guard recruiter about joining the SMP program while pursuing another degree and commissioning as an officer through ROTC? Or would having already completed a bachelor’s degree affect my eligibility?

Ed Delay Ed delay Law School Life

I was lucky enough to find out this week that I’ve been granted an education delay to attend law school next year. I’m curious if anyone here has experience with what that’s actually like while you’re in school.

Is it really “bye, see you in three years,” or are you still taking AFTs, doing random drug tests, checking in with someone, etc.? What military requirements or responsibilities do you have during those three years?

I haven’t really found anyone to ask, and I’ve learned that finding a clear answer online about anything Army-related is easier said than done.

Curious when I’d go to BOLC as someone who is trying to go pure MI and has a pretty good OML.

Accessions/OML/Branching My PMS said I have to go guard even though I’m active duty eligible

My OMS score was low and my camp score was not to great. But somehow I got active duty and my branch feedback was decent. Got most preferred on 3 different branches. My PMS said I have to go guard or reserve though. Do they have the power to do that

Accessions/OML/Branching FY27 TBB Branch Preferences — Am I Ranking These Correctly?

Thumbnail

I’m currently finalizing my FY27 branch preferences and wanted to make sure I’m doing this correctly.
My Active Duty OML is 1,365, and I received Most Preferred for Finance, Engineer, Infantry, and Field Artillery, logistics , preferred medical services and signal

My top choices are:
Finance
Engineer
Infantry
Finance is my first choice, and I’m willing to BRADSO and branch detail Infantry to get it. I’m also willing to BRADSO and branch detail for Engineer if I don’t get Finance.

I’ve attached screenshots of my current rankings. Am I setting this up correctly to maximize my chances of getting Finance or Engineer, or should I rearrange my preferences?

Any advice would be appreciated!
