I had not done "Tumpy Tonic Crafting" before, so this is my official KALADIM FINISHED post. I already completed North Kaladim a while ago.
Kaladim is home to a bunch of fun quests. I have a special place in my heart for the Small Scarab armor. The Scarab quests are simple fetch quests that result in some of the best fashionquest in the game for little races. I still rock the Green Plate helm graphic from the Small Scarab Helm on my Halfling Druid.
But the true "gem" of a quest in this zone is the Eye of Stormhammer.
See, if you've ever ventured over to Kaladim, you have been greeted by the giant statue of King Kazon Stormhammer guarding the entrance. Originally, the eyes of this giant dwarf were glistening giant emeralds. Unfortunately, the eye was stolen by a Halfling Rogue named Bronin Higginsbot. Luckily, he has been arrested in High Keep. It is your job to go to the prison there and help transfer the prisoner back to Kaladim.
BUT ALAS, he has escaped! All that is left behind is a piece of the emerald. This quest just got more complicated.
Turns out tracking the Hobbit down wasn't that hard, he just went home the Misty Thicket. When you accost Bronin, it turns out he is in a bit of trouble. Famous Froglok bounty hunter, Slaythe the Slayer, is after his head. If you kill Slaythe, he will help you get the rest of the Emerald.
As a fun aside, there's another quest called the Bloody Shank which explores the backstory of this hired muscle. If you go to Captain Boshinko in High Keep, he had other plans to deal with Bronin's escape. He was the one who hired Slaythe. You can actually lie to him and convince him that you are Slaythe the Slayer, and get the reward for killing Bronin.
But back to the quest at hand. Upon getting proof of Slaythe's death, Bronin gives you the key to a deposit box in, guess where, High Keep, where another shard of the gem lies. But unfortunately, there is one more shard, which he has hidden in the protection of the Ranger Guild in Kelethin. He convinced them that it was something called the "Gem of Tunare." So across the world you go trudging again.
When you get to Kelethin, you find out that this Gem has been stolen! What is this, a Guy Ritchie movie?!
The guildmaster in Kelethin tells you that a half elf named Faldor Hendrys stole the gem, and that you should speak to his brother, Elmion Hendrys if you want to find him. Elmion Hendrys isn't just any Ranger, but a member of the FANTASTIC FOUR... I'm sorry, the Fabulous Four of Dagnor's Cauldron fame. He tells you that his brother is hiding in Qeynos.
So back across the world you tread, and rather than talking to this rogue, you just stab him and take his emerald.
Finally, with the three emeralds in your possession, they magically combine back into the EYE OF STORMHAMMER! Return with this to get a weapon as legendary as it is dogshit, the AVENGER BATTLE AXE!
