Discussion Royal Road Admin Response to Soccer Supremo Censorship

/r/royalroad/comments/1x9vh3a/soccer_supremo_removed_from_royal_road/php6mvu/

I really don’t like this precedent. I also don’t like how flippantly RR is treating this. I don’t even know the wordcount of Soccer Supremo, but I’m guessing it’s in the millions, and the RR admin says that this is an “easily fixable” issue to rewrite. Max Best’s entire character is outspoken on social issues.

What happens the next time a gammon complains to RR? Just another easy fix right? How man easy fixes until the entire story is neutered? Until Max Best is no longer the same character?

I’ll continue following Ted Steel on his Patreon, but this has left a bad taste in my mouth in regards to Royal Road.

My biggest issue with it is the selective enforcement. He Who Fights With Monsters is very political and doesn't get censored at all. So you are just allowed to avoid the censorship if you are popular enough or something?

My story literally followed a lesbian radiation assassin as she killed billionaires and politicians, and it's just fine on Royalroad.

Apparently.

Listen here mate with your "Lesbian radiation assassin killing billionaires and politicians". That description is just awesome, I have to read it now.

The anti-establishment and anti-corporate stuff is based, laying the problems of capitalism at the feet of Jewish folks is not. I would love love love the books if it weren't for that.

Apparently all the slop endorsing slavery isn't political either.

In regards to 'popular enough' I just want to point out that soccer supremo is basically book 15 of player manager, which is not a small timer on royalroad.

It has 1k followers. While not insignificant it isn't that popular.

It's firmly midtier, and HWFWM is... not

Does He Who Fights With Monsters get into real world politics? I know Jason is heavily opinionated, but there's a difference between "this character dislikes this government in the story" and "this character is actively critiquing the actual government of X country."

Or does HWFWM blur the lines between the two?
