Hey everyone! Wanted to make my yearly post where I summarize the jerseys I’ve added to my collection! I entered the year thinking I would only add a couple, and that was true, but several opportunities to upgrade popped up and I couldn’t refuse. I was able to cross quite a few big names from my list, and a few hall of famers at that! In order of acquisition:

2007-08 Max Talbot Away Set 3

• This jersey is absolutely crushed with wear, held together with several large twill repairs! I’ve wanted to have a nice Talbot for quite some time, as his game seven heroics will always be a piece of my Penguins experience.

1993-94 Brian Trottier Home Set 1

• This is a grail for me, as my dad and I always liked Trottier when I was growing up. His jerseys are extraordinarily difficult to find for obvious reasons, but this one came from South Korea believe it or not. It was worn for his last NHL goal!

2000-01 Darius Kasparaitis Set 2

• I used to own this jersey a couple of years ago, but I sold it to fund my Lemieux. I had the opportunity to re-acquire it, so I sold my 98-99 Kaspar and snatched it up. Very hard to find this style with wear.

2005-06 Mark Recchi Set 1

• Another grail, Recchi is a name that tugs at my nostalgic heart strings. There’s a collector in the hobby who has collected dozens of Recchi game worn jerseys, so again it’s incredibly hard to find his stuff. Happy to grab this one.

1990-91 Kevin Stevens Set 2

• Any time you can acquire a 91 or 92 cup season jersey from a notable name, you have to try and make it happen. I previously had a 92-93 Stevens, which was a huge year for him, but this 1990-91 style is just pinnacle “Penguins” as far as I’m concerned.

2008 Sergei Gonchar Winter Classic Period 3

• I’ve been chasing a notable 2008 Winter Classic jersey since I started collecting, and this one fell into my lap. Remarkably, it’s from period three/OT, which the players kept, so there are very few, if any, in private collections.

2008-09 Evgeni Malkin Set 2 (2-4-09 vs Tampa Bay)

• I try to avoid buying one game jerseys if I can, but this was too good to pass up. I had a really decent 09-10 Malkin, but 2008-09 was a cup year, art ross year, conn smythe year for Malkin, and those just don’t come around. Additionally, 2-4-09 was one of Malkin’s Beast Mode games where we simply couldn’t be stopped, and was great to re-watch that game and relive the good ol days.

1995-96 Phil Bourque Detroit Vipers

• The Ol’ 2-9-er is hard not to like, and I randomly had a fascination with the vipers back in the 90’s, so I had to grab this. Great wear! Looking for help with photo matches if you happen to know of any great sources.

2004-05 Colby Armstrong WBS Alt

• I previously owned his NHL debut jersey, but I’ve wanted this navy/columbia blue jersey for a few years and couldn’t pass it up when I saw it at auction. I’d previously owned his NHL debut, but I had to reallocate the funds for…

1992-93 Larry Murphy Set 1

• If it weren’t for the Trottier this would easily be my grail of the year, I’ve wanted a Murphy since the day I started collecting. He’s been one of my favorite players since I was a kid, and similar to Recchi, most of his jerseys in circulation are locked in the collection of one particular collector. The opportunity to acquire this popped up after months of negotiating and I had to make it happen. ’Twas Murphy’s best season in terms of points and Norris voting!

Malkin currently has 1416 points 84 away from 1500. Do we think he plays long enough to get to 1500? Me I’m leaning he just misses but it will be very close.

A few days ago, I was doing my daily scroll through depop before I stumbled upon a Malkin jersey for $13. Safe to say the hockey gods were on my side.

My friend and I got tickets for in a few months and we’re about 4-5 hours from Pitt so we plan on taking public transport. I’ve seen people being able to get in the arena early and watch players practice. How does one do that? And when you get in to watch them practice, are you able to stay in till the game starts? Or will they kick you out to come back in before the game starts?

Where does one go to get a possible signature? Either on a jersey or a puck. And same for the visiting team? I’ve seen videos of visitor teams arriving and people lined up outside and the visiting team signs stuff as they walk in. Does that happen at PPG? Since it’s our first hockey game and we’re hours away, we want to make the most of the day

Hey everyone! Bit of an unusual request, but figured I’d throw it out there…
I’ve been looking into the press conference experience for the Penguins vs. Maple Leafs game on February 25, 2027. The package includes a premium seat, a signed piece of memorabilia, and the opportunity to sit in on the Penguins’ postgame press conferences with 2-3 players and the coach.
The only catch is that it’s sold in packages of two, and I’d be flying in solo.

Figured I’d see if anyone else has had this on their bucket list but is in the same situation!
I’d be looking to split it 50/50, so your portion would be about $750 for the seat and full experience.

Ok so I’ve found myself with a surplus of blanks in the past year! I’m thinking of sending like 2 or 3 out for customization but I’m trying to figure out A) which to send, and B) who to get on em! I have a good idea of what I want already but I’m curious what everyone else would do!

Context: I don’t have a Crosby jersey yet I’ve only got a blue Malkin and a flower sweater 🌸

I was just watching the highlights of the MHT vs Calgary Hitmen to see if the Rucks or Sanderson had good games and the announcer said that Sanderson had 14 goals so far this season in WHL so I thought “My God, how are the other prospects doing?”

Aside from Sanderson who has 21 points with 15 goals in 11 games, some of the other prospects are doing very well at least when it comes to counting stats. I figured I’d just share them here since we all have to wait so long for the next game.

I find the Ruck stats interesting because pre draft/during the draft/post draft/ and throughout Pens training camp the narrative was that Markus was lesser player and would probably be left behind when Liam made it to the NHL. I wonder if he heard all that noise and stepped it up. Now I haven’t been watching their games so I don’t know if the Rucks are being used differently and that’s making Markus shine a little brighter but gotta love a Center who’s putting up goals and assists.

OHL:
Pierce Mbuyi 10G/9A
Travis Hayes and Jordan Charron are playing well in the SOO and are both wearing letters but they are off to slower start in the points department than last season. Not so slow though they have 9 and 7 points respectively in 14 games.

NCAA:
Zam Plante 4G/5A
Will Horcoff 3G/4A
Joona Väisänen 2G/5A
Kale Dach 2G/4A
Mac Swanson 2G/3A

With the NCAA guys it’s so cool to see so many guys at or nearly 1.00 ppg. These guys are in good hockey programs and are now in the stretch of the season where they’re playing against other talented programs. Lots of “what if’s” involved but some of these guys could legitimately get NHL playing time at the end of this season.

It’s awesome seeing our prospect pool so beefed up compared to just a few years ago.

UPDATE: I bought tickets and then in a matter of 4 hours the client cancelled on us. Travel expenses are covered by the company but I’m basically out the ticket unless someone needs and extra ticket.
Section 105 row M seat 3. Attack twice side. If anyone knows anyone. I’m devastated but would part with it for a deal at this point. 🥲

My family is from the area-ish. I’ve been a fan for my entire life but have never been to PPG. The stars aligned on a work trip and I am able to go to the game on Thursday.

My question is, what are the first time game things I MUST do while I’m there. Food, unique experiences etc. I know it a waste but do they have souvenir cups (beer sticks) or things like popcorn buckets? I just want to get the most out of my experience and have a truly Pittsburgh time. Very excited to go!

I didn’t expect to be in the first 7,500 at the game on Saturday but sure enough my wife and I made it and each got one but we really only want one of them. Does anyone here want the extra one?

Just FYI the blocks are TINY and building it is pretty tedious. All I ask is that whoever wants it cover shipping cost!

Karlsson currently leads the team In points at 12. The next closest is Malkin at 9. Does he finish the season with the most points on the team? What do you guys think
