I was more disturbed than I've been on Reddit thus far. There is a thread of people praising the murderer Kyle Rittenhouse as if the amazing properties of the AR combined with his skill is what protected him from his "armed attackers." 🥺🙀

I was/am viscerally nauseated by what I read in this post. It's also frightening.

Rittenhouse isnt a murderer, yes the gun should not have crossed state lines and he needs to be charged for that but shooting someone trying to kill you after you run from them isnt murder, it's basic self defense

Ideas have consequences. Beliefs about witchcraft led to countless people, mostly women, being punished and even killed at witch-trials. The blood libel of anti-Semitism has led to pogroms. The eugenics of the early 20th century solidified the idea of biological essentialism leading to sterilizations, killings, and deprivation of rights.

Being accused of saying the N word is exactly the same as a pogrom

As much as i think a lot of gun control people have some ineffective ideas, American gun culture is absolutely batshit if you've seen other gun cultures in other developed nations like Switzerland, Finland, or Canada.
