Arcteryx gear authenticity questions should be posted to /r/arcteryx

For reasons I can't explain, over the last few weeks this sub became a popular place for people to ask for Arcteryx fake checks.

/r/arcteryx is the proper place for these posts, they even have a quarterly pinned thread for fake checks and should be able to help you out.

Tropicfeel quality is a joke: pants fell apart after 4-5 wears!

Bought a pair of pants and the NS60 layer from Tropicfeel. Both fell apart.

The pants: worn maybe 4-5 times, and the crotch area is already worn through with holes next to the seam. Nothing extreme, just normal wear.

The NS60 layer: the seam split the first time I put it on. First wear.

I sent in a warranty claim with photos and they denied it. Their reply said it "does not meet our criteria for a quality defect" and then listed the usual exclusions like normal wear and tear and careless use. Neither applies to a seam that fails on day one or pants that rip after a handful of wears.

Honestly it feels like cheap fast fashion sold at technical gear prices. I won't be buying from them again.

Photos attached. Anyone else had issues with their stuff or with the warranty process?

I probably won't choose this brand again.

Diy Tactical poncho's?

• Upvotes

I'm aware that adding "Tactical" to an ordinary product makes me sound like a Mall ninja.

Anyway, I was wondering if people here made their own gear(or maybe I'm in the wrong sub?). I want to make a set of ponchos that's mostly like Helikon-Tex' Swagman. Just two separable layers that fit together nicely.

The one thing that bugs me is that I have like 0 knowledge about sewing and fabric beside the knowledge you need to buy clothes in general(cotton nylon wool etc). Since its a poncho, many things would fit.

Soo anyone here have any suggestions? Maybe sewing patterns? Really anything Poncho related is welcome here. Even if you only have "tacticool" ideas, anything is welcome.

Hi everyone! I decided to use my tent poles as a backpack frame while hiking. I think this will make the pack more comfortable to carry, and the poles will be doing useful work while I'm on the move.

need a packable duffel that doesn't look like a garbage bag at dinner

Want something that lives inside my backpack on the flight then becomes my day bag once I land. Big enough for a week of laundry, small enough not to be awkward, and it can't look like a stuff sack since I use it for dinners sometimes. What's actually presentable?

Winter Parka choices

Hi,

I’ve been looking into getting a new parka (don’t own one anymore) and have been looking into a few popular options.

I live in Vancouver- so milder winter but higher humidity, rain, wind. But I’d also like to use this parka when I go to colder places (For example going to Manitoba next month including the arctic) but also I generally need something to keep me warm outside at the west coast.

I’ve came to conclusion of the popular 4 jackets below.
But I just want real life feedback and opinion.
Also open to other suggestions too!!!

*Ps. I’m aware there’s a big price difference between some of them so for the more expensive ones I was going to shop second hand!*

**1- Arc’teryx Patera Parka Women’s**

**2- Lululemon Snow Warrior**

**3-Aritzia The Super Puff₂O Rainstop**

**4-Canada Goose Shelburne Parka**

People who have own one or more of them, can you please let me know what you think?

Sport cap for women with small head 🧢

Hello!

I’m writing to ask if you have any recommendations for brands or a specific model of cap that comes in small sizes and is machine-washable.

I’m looking for a cap that I can wear whilst hiking (hence the need to wash it) 🏕️; and, above all, one that actually comes in small sizes, because women’s sizes are usually too big for me (it’s usually the peak that’s too wide or too long, and it’s really uncomfortable).

It would be a bonus if the brand is ethical! (and needs to be available in Europe)

Thank you for your help !

Never order from the Tevas website

They feign “good customer service” and don’t help you with anything. I ordered with Afterpay, the order failed but went through with Afterpay so I was charged. Spoke with customer service and they told me to just reach out to them, which I did. I really needed these shoes so I thought I’ll just pay in full, fine. I placed the order and was charged for the FULL amount and the order still failed. Talking with the same agent they could not tell me why it failed even though I have money in my account.

So now I’m down $150 waiting for these bank holds to be removed and it’ll be a week before I see that money again. If you’re gonna buy Teva anything, go through a third party. Their website SUCKS and so does their customer service. I even tried reaching out via email to get some stuff in writing and got an automated reply saying they don’t read their email. WHAT?

Waterproof jacket suggestion

Hi, i come from hot climate (Brazil) and now i am in France. Facing the climate here on runs have been a pain because of wind and rain and i realised i need a jacket. The thing is, i prefer to stay on the colder side of things when running.

Anybody have a recommendation of a jacket that will keep me ~mostly dry from rain and not drenching in sweat or cooking inside it?

Thanks!

Normal after 15min of light rain?

I have this relativly new exped verglas 30, and just went out in the rain for like 15 minutes in light/moderate rain. I expected it to be basically 100% waterproof given the rubbery outside, but as you can see by the dark spots there are a lot of places where water was able to make it through.

Outdoor/hunting gear survey for University class

Hi All, I’m not sure if this is allowed in this community, but I figured I’d give it my best shot.

I’m in a marketing class at the University of Utah and for the class I have to get survey questions answered for a digital marketing project I’m working on. Since I recently bought some KUIU gear I thought it would be fun to evaluate their competitors.

Link to survey: https://utah.sjc1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV\\_8wyywLhjjuJECZU

If you guys wouldn’t mind helping out and taking the survey, it should only take about 5 minutes.
P.S. There is extra credit for whoever gets the most responses in 24 hours too!

What does your setup look like when you're working out of your car all day?

By the time I clock out from my day job, my phone is usually sitting around 50% battery. That used to be plenty, until I started picking up evening service calls around town. Now I'm often driving between jobs, checking work orders, following GPS directions, and answering client calls well into the evening.

The battery drain adds up faster than I expected. Navigation is running almost constantly, I'm checking job details between stops, and clients sometimes call just as I'm pulling into an unfamiliar area. My car's USB port helps, but it doesn't always keep up with the drain, especially when I'm using the phone heavily. Keeping a cable plugged in all the time also became annoying. It gets caught around the center console, ends up in the way when I'm getting in and out, and is one more thing to deal with when I'm trying to get to a customer's door on time.

I've started using a magnetic power bank on the back of my phone instead. It's convenient to grab the phone and go without unplugging a cable every time, although the extra weight makes the phone feel a little different in one hand. I'm still figuring out whether it's the best solution for longer evenings or whether a better in-car charging setup would make more sense.

Calls are the other part of the routine I've been trying to improve. Taking a call on speakerphone in a busy parking lot isn't ideal, especially when there's traffic or other people nearby. Regular in-ear earbuds can make conversations easier to hear, but I don't always want to block out my surroundings when walking through commercial parking lots or approaching a customer's property after dark.

I've been using open-ear clip earbuds for those situations. I can hear more of what's going on around me while taking calls, which feels more practical when I'm moving between the car and different locations. Wind noise and call clarity can still be hit or miss, though, so I'm not convinced there's one perfect option for every situation.

Overall, I'm trying to keep things simple: enough battery to get through the evening, reliable calls, and fewer loose accessories to manage. I don't really want to turn the passenger seat into a mobile office just to get through a few extra jobs.

For anyone who spends long hours driving between appointments or service calls, what does your setup look like? Do you rely on a magnetic power bank, a dedicated car charger, or something else? And what do you use for calls when you need to stay aware of your surroundings?

Best thin insulate gloves

For standing still in 20 degree weather. The kids and l will be attending a Christmas parade and temps usually drop to 20 - 30 degrees. I used to have Columbia omni heat gloves.
