So I joined this last week not expecting anything as I've had a profile on a dozen different apps and never had a single click.

4 days in I log in and see 94 notifications, top 4 are in my capital city two hours north. Considering taking the 50% off the first month deal in the next few hours to see who they are and maybe message.

Anything to look out for when adding my card and Upgrading? So many different negative reviews and the fact anyone actually "likes me" is concerning.

US based and used OK Cupid many years ago and thought I would try it again. Compared to my last experience where there were boatloads of profiles, there are not that many for an area like Austin - Dallas - San Antonio -Houston. Curiously I changed my filter to show me people from anywhere, which is just silly I know but its the only way to see people from the other side of the US, and it looks like every other profile is from someone in Israel. Now I am not a math major, but I was expecting countries that are orders of magnitude LARGER than Israel to have a greater numbers of women...

Is OK Cupid just selectively showing me people from Israel because I am in the US? I half wonder if they are fake profiles since most of their pictures show lush greenery in the background which seems odd...not a geography major either but last I heard its pretty dry there. 8-)

I made an account, completed my profile, began answering some of the optional questions, then sat my phone down. When I went to get back into the app just a few minutes later, I was booted out.

Customer support said my account was banned. I appealed and they said they can confirm I violated their conditions. I've read everything on their website. I've not done anything that is on their list. I didn't even talk to anybody. There was nothing sexual on my profile. I'm definitely over 18. I didn't have anything inappropriate in my bio.

This doesn't seem very fair. I liked OkCupid when researching apps because of all the in depth personality questions, including political leanings etc, because that sort of thing is important to me.

Is there anything else I can do? Any other apps that are similarly in depth?

So I matched with this guy on Okcupid. He matched first by sending an intro replying to one of my prompts. Conversations were good, nothing indicating he was AI, bot, or scammer, mentioning things that were local and included things he likes to do, a little bit of his work, traveling, places we’ve been too, and asked me questions about myself. We consistently talked everyday for about 5 days before he suggested moving off the app and message through WhatsApp, though he gave me the option to stay on the app. Before we moved off the app, he asked me out on a date, setting the date, time, and place (which was pretty local and a middle point from our location). Then today, the day of our date, we were messaging all day morning since 5 am and without warning 2 hours before our date, he cancelled and text this long message stating, in short, that he hasn’t dated in while, father passed recently, stating he’s been putting too much pressure on himself, etc. I see unmatched me, removed his contacts photo on WhatsApp and possibly blocking me after messaging. Was this a scammer or a guy with cold feet. I am disappointed and sad. What do you think?

I created an account on OkCupid and matched it with a girl from the Philippines. We initially started talking on OkCupid. She told me that she is looking for a relationship, just like I am, but she also said that she is not in a hurry and believes that if something is meant to happen and we both feel the same way, it should happen naturally.

She also mentioned several times that there are a lot of perverted people on dating apps, so she seems to be cautious about who she talks to.

Today, she told me that she might delete her OkCupid account soon and asked if we could continue talking on WhatsApp instead.

What should I do in this situation? Does this seem genuine, or should I be careful?

I was recently scammed by a website claiming to be OK Cupid. I don’t think the perpetrator was actually them just someone pretending to be them. Here is how it works. They have a stable of women you can date only after you get a “dating card”. To unlock the card you must send them crypto that they will refund (first sign). They ask you to do it three times. The first two are moderate, the last is exorbitant. The telegram account used was Freya Vance - certification manager. Do not be fooled like I was never provide crypto if asked. The “lady” I was texting handle was Lisa but far less details about her.

hi, suddenly I started to experience a bug, most of the people who I like don’t appear on the “likes sent” tab, even when I sent them an intro. sometimes they appear and sometimes( most of time times no)

i wanted to ask if its just a glitch in the app and the likes are still being sent even that I don’t see them in the your likes tab, did it happen to someone and later they matched with someone that way?

From searching, this has been an issue going back at least 6 years, but there seems to be no definitive solution. Today I tried to log in with my phone number (which was previously authorized with them), but got an error message "that number is invalid or we can't find the account". So I tried to log in with my email and password, which got accepted... up until it wanted to send a verification code to that same phone number they claim does not exist or is invalid. I try anyway, but that verification code never gets delivered. I submitted a ticket to their legendary customer support, but has anyone successfully gotten customer service to resolve this error code associated with their phone number?

Last year when I used Passport, I had unlimited Likes to give. Now it is limited. I could not find an update that mentions this change. Is it a new change? Or was I maybe just bugged out last year when I got unlimited Likes?

I am trying to log in to my account using my phone number.

During login, I receive Error Code 5 ("Number is invalid or account not found"). When I try to verify my phone number via SMS, I receive the verification code, but the system rejects it as incorrect.

After that, I changed my password and received an email confirming that the password was changed successfully. However, when I tried to log in again, the system asked me for another verification code. It said the code had been sent, but I never received it on my phone. I tried requesting a code 5–6 times, but nothing arrived.

I have already cleared the app cache, reinstalled the app, and reset my password, but the issue persists.

I have contacted support, but I haven't received a response yet.

An AI suggested that requesting the verification code too many times may have temporarily blocked my phone number and recommended waiting 24 hours before trying to log in again.

Please help me regain access to my account.

I'm in a situation where i need a vpn, and my location and these idiots banned me permenantly after years. The platform used to be good, now its crap. I appealed and customer service rude and uncompromising. Whats your problem there?

I feel like there are a lot of scammers on okcupid. just reading multiple profile summaries, a lot of them sound so similar, as if they were all done by the same ai chatbot. a lot of times i get a match then the "girl" somehow doesn't have instagram, wants only to talk through whatsapp or telegram. & they never reply there.
I just wanna know if these are scammers, then what are they benefitting from once they have other people's phone numbers

I'm trying to cancel my description, and I checked the Okcupid help article (https://okcupid-app.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/22977442983707-How-to-Cancel-and-Unsubscribe) which says to go to the subscription settings page, but I followed their link and it looks nothing like the pictures they have, and neither the main settings page nor the subscriptions tab have an option to cancel. Does anyone know if there's a way to cancel now?

I guess I'm just going to call my bank and dispute the charges, if they literally don't give you a way to cancel now.

Literally just matched with someone and she seems interested since she provided her phone number to me. In my head I'm like ok cool, she must be really interested if she's sharing her number. So I start texting her and giving my whole day on what I did nothing major just casual stuff but I put in the damn effort to write something up and all I get is "hope you enjoy it" or "not really". So dry and cold. Doesn't even answer my initial text question of the basic how's your night going?
