Use this thread when you are selling, trading, giving away, or looking for any items and/or services. Please be descriptive, post any relevant photos of the item you're selling or looking for, and list the price or budget.
Pro-tip: there are many "buy nothing" and neighborhood-specific groups on Facebook and Nextdoor that can be used to give away or find free items near you. You may find more luck on those social networks than here on Reddit and are more likely to deal with actual local users.
BE AUTHENTIC AND SAFE: Falsely leading on another Redditor is grounds for being permanently banned from this subreddit. Please remember not to post personal information about yourself or others and exercise caution when privately messaging with anyone you do not personally know or trust. Consider a neutral, public location if you plan on meeting to exchange an item in person.
HIGH RISK OF EVENT TICKET SCAMS: Users seeking to sell or purchase tickets of local events are seeing a significantly-increased risk of being scammed. If you receive a private message from a user who hasn't interacted in this subreddit before, you are very likely speaking with a scammer.
NO PROHIBITED TRANSACTIONS: The posting of prohibited goods or services is strictly against Reddit's TOS and are subject to removal by our moderators and/or Reddit's admins. Please report any comments that appear to violate this policy for further review.

A memorial of flowers, chalked pathways and posted signs gathered outside Old Dominion University's Batten Arts and Letters building following a student's death on campus.
The tributes displayed a mix of supportive messages alongside student criticism directed at the university's response to the tragedy.
On Monday, the campus community was informed that the memorial items would be removed, with selected tributes shared with the student's family.
The decision sparked additional frustration among students, who expressed concerns over the brief closure of the building and questioned the authenticity of official communications.

I was involved in a serious hit-and-run on I-264 West near East Campostella Avenue in Norfolk on Monday, October 26, 2026, around 7:45 a.m.
As I merged onto the highway, a small, rounded white SUV suddenly braked. I couldn’t avoid hitting it, and my airbags deployed. The SUV then drove away instead of stopping.
If you were driving on I-264 West between 7:35 and 8:00 a.m. and have dashcam footage—or saw a small white SUV or its license plate—please message me privately.
Please share. Any information could help. Thank you! 🙏❤️

My friend and I found a kitty on the side of the road who was weak and very skinny. I took care of him while I was trying to find a vet who’d be able to treat him. (It was pretty late at night.) I didn’t want to delay him getting help just because I wanted to make sure I was completely ready to keep him. I also wasn’t sure if he was chipped or not at the time. Afterwards I couldn’t stop thinking about him and decided that if he made it and I found him on one of the shelter sites I’d adopt him. I ended up finding him the next morning and have been trying to get in contact with the shelter to at least let them know somebody will take care of him if he doesn’t have an owner. The staff at this shelter are doing a 2 day training so I haven’t been able to reach anybody. I think I’m just scared he’ll be put down before I can get him especially since he’s a black cat and I know they’re not adopted as easy.
I brought him in at 2 am on the 26th, and I know they usually have a 5 day hold period but I wasn’t sure if that was for strays too. I think Im just overthinking it and freaking myself out but I wasn’t sure. He can’t be older than 2 months so I don’t know if that helps his case.

considering that its just one , I'm sure it's more out there. Plus the amount of job losses and the limited job choices, this wont be easy.

Hey y'all! What's the nearest outdoor basketball court in Ghent? I've been wanting to get out there and start at least practicing shots again. Was planning on just using a school court but I can't seem to find any? Would love any help! Thanks!

Norfolk's Perry Glass Studio offers its popular Pumpkinpalooza program every year, allowing participants to design and craft custom glass pumpkins.
After launching in 2016, the hands-on activity has become a seasonal tradition and major revenue driver.
Guided by studio assistants, participants select custom colors, roll molten glass into crushed pieces, blow the starter shapes and mold signature ridges using a furnace set to 2,150 degrees.

Operating from 2015 to 2017 in Norfolk’s NEON District, the venue Work|Release served as a singular creative hub that merged contemporary art, live music and night life.
Founders Meredith and Arthur "Brother" Rutter acquired and renovated the dilapidated Texaco building on Granby Street to house the venue.
Over its two-year run, the venue's accessible, open-door approach drew broad, eclectic crowds and helped launch the careers of numerous local Hampton Roads creatives.

On Friday, the Navy finalized a $1.7 billion agreement with Hunt Military Communities to privatize housing for junior sailors in Hampton Roads.
The five-year contract requires Hunt to build or renovate 8,000 barracks beds, making it the largest barracks privatization project in military history.
A major component of the plan includes constructing a 5,000-bed complex in Newport News to replace Huntington Hall, with construction scheduled to begin later this fall.
Despite past lawsuits involving Hunt over maintenance conditions and federal contract disclosures in other military housing projects, local officials expressed confidence in oversight for the barracks contract.

Good morning (or whatever time it is) to anyone reading this. I'm a sailor stationed out of Norfolk that's looking for a place to stay, and up until now I've had a hard time finding places that either have what I'm looking for, or fit my budget. I don't know anyone who needs a roommate either, so here I am.
I'm a 20 yeard old male, 2 years in the Navy, and I'm willing to spend upwards of 1k a month if I'll be rooming with someone. All I ask is wherever I end up not be in the worst area imaginable, and my roommate/mates be clean. Of course, things are negotiable, and I'd be more than happy to discuss details with anyone genuinely interested in this ad. Thank you for reading, if you've bothered to read this, and have a good day.

My fiance recently just got her permit for driving. Anyone have any recommendations for drivers Ed schools in the area? Zoom and in person are options for the classroom part. I know I could Google this stuff but wanted local suggestions and opinions. Also looking for affordability.
