Hey, I (18NB) recently discovered that I’m nonbinary and have came out as such. But I’ve come to realize that I only seem to feel gender envy towards women and other fem-presenting people. Their hair, their faces, their bodies, their clothes, how they’re treated, femininity etc. But I also feel that being brought up as a boy and being in male spaces for so long that I feel all my femininity and potential womanhood have been corrupted and too perverted for me to consider myself a woman. Also, the dysphoria I feel isn’t crippling. I can look at my body and code switch to act more masc and, although I don’t like it, I can tolerate it and it doesn’t cause me too much distress. I know that gender dysphoria can present itself in different ways but I would’ve thought it would be a bit more intense for me if I was a trans girl.
Every time I’ve tried to be more fem (hair, mascara, clothing choice, mannerisms etc), it always falls flat and feels awkward, leading me to not try very hard and give up a lot of the time. Whether I can’t get my hair right, shaving my body hair being a large task only for it not to last very long leading me to just give up and other stuff like that. And no matter whether I try to be masc, fem or androgynous, I always seem to get perceived and treated as a man/boy no matter what. So what’s the point?
I ain’t sure if I’m actually nonbinary or if that’s just an easier pill to swallow but idk anymore.
