Just messed around with Minecraft on the Switch 2 (handheld mode, fresh survival world at woods biome) and wanted to share how it runs.
1. Vibrant Visuals + Maximum Graphics Settings
With everything maxed out, the game runs below 30 FPS and it feels unstable. I wouldn't recommend this configuration.
2. Vibrant Visuals + Performance Mode (Default Settings)
The game runs above 60 fps in some areas, but there's a lot of shimmering, especially on water and tree leaves. The image also looks noticeably blurrier it uses 66% res.
3. Vibrant Visuals + Visual Quality Mode (Default Settings)
The game runs at around 30 FPS or slightly lower, with a very noticeable increase in input lag. However, there's much less shimmering on tree leaves and on water, and the image resolution looks quite better. Personally, I wouldn't recommend this mode because of the performance and input lag.
4. Uncapped FPS
The game can actually run above 60 FPS if you enable the uncapped FPS option, which is great!
Overall, I'd recommend Performance Mode for the best gameplay experience, unless you prioritize image quality over frame rate.
Later on, Iāll play around with the graphics settings, and if I find a better configuration, Iāll share it in the comments section.
My biggest recommendation, and how I'd personally play the game, is to turn off Vibrant Visuals entirely and use the Fancy graphics mode instead, with everything maxed out, a render distance of up to 20 chunks, and the FPS limit disabled. This way, you can aim for up to 120 FPS while keeping the original Minecraft visuals. Personally, I think this offers the best overall experience!
