i recently got this ds lite second hand and it originally had no dead pixels on it. over the last 2-3 days this grey line has appeared and grown. i appreciate it will get worse- for now it doesnt affect my games BUT i do notice it smells. is that concerning..? i only notice the smell from the screen, if i smell the back of the DS (i.e. where the battery is) i smell nothing. is there any explanation for this? is the ds safe to use? will it damage my cartidges?

I modded my first ds lite and I’ll be honest it actually wasn’t that hard to do the only hard part was wiring the WiFi and speaker wires everything else was relatively easy! Also if anyone is curious this was a ExtremeRate shell!
I also forgot to mention I fully replaced the digitizer and top screen lenses!

Hi, I have a problem with my 2DS.

My screen brightness is very low, even though it's set as high as possible. Moreover, the blue light that pops up whenever the console is running is not appearing anymore. I reckon the volume is also lower than it used to be. The console and games still runs perfectly but it's pretty annoying to have these problems while playing.

Has this happened to anyone before? I thank every help in advance. Cheers.

Practically everything has been translated from Japanese to English for this full release. I did this purely as a passion project for the community, and I hope you all enjoy this hidden gem!

I uploaded the patch files directly to keep the links safe. It's very easy to use, and I even included an automatic Windows .bat script inside the download so you can patch your game in just one click.

Hi everyone!

I've been thinking about Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX (3DS) and how amazing its gameplay is. Since the DS already has games that handle interactive 3D models really well (like Nintendogs or Tomodachi Collection), I wonder: would it be physically possible for the community to create a 3D "Demake" of Project Mirai for the original Nintendo DS?

Obviously, a direct port is impossible, but I'm thinking of a custom homebrew engine using:

- Low-poly 3D Nendoroid models (Nintendogs style).

- Static or highly optimized backgrounds to save CPU.

- Compressed audio/MIDI to fit the DS hardware.

- The touchscreen rhythm mechanics.

Has anyone ever attempted something like this, or is there an existing homebrew engine that could be adapted for a 3D Miku game on the DS? I think a low-poly retro version of Project Mirai would look absolutely amazing!

Id love to hear your technical thoughts on this.

I could cry, I ran into so many obstacles on the way and nearly gave up so many times. It was my first time soldering as well so it was all new.

All mods:

USBC charging

Changed green LED to purple

Added the retroglow backlight

Inserted a new battery

Combined two Extremerate shells together (gold and transparent blue).

The digitizer on my ds was broken, so I had to do a screen swap with an otherwise broken ds I had and thankfully got the touchscreen working well. This was so rewarding! The only remaining issue is the USBC port doesn't fit snuggly and is pushing up against the plastic a bit so I need to file that down.

I'm praying it's fixable. I've tested on multiple ds and 3ds systems and my other games run just fine. Its intermittent as to whether the cartridge is read. I've backed up my save file. It's been like it since I bought it years ago. I just want to make sure I can either fix or get a replacement before the price goes even crazier.

So I tried booting up a copy of fossil fighters champions today and the day Ive been dreading has arrived it won't read nor do any of my other ds games except for one im using a 2ds and have tried 3ds games in it and they worked just fine I'm really at a loss cause these ds games are impossible to get for less than 100 dollars now it's seems especially the gen 5 pokemon games that I own Edit: apologies for the typos I corrected them I hope Edit 2: seems almost no ds games work in it and ones I could try barely worked in a different one in my possession, so what that screams to me at least is the systems themselves showing age. I'll try to find somewhere to test the 2ds but at least for now I have hope

After my previous post where I finally put my DS Lite back together after 10+ years of sitting in pieces, I discovered, to no great surprise, that the aftermarket battery I had in it was shot, and I'd lost the proprietary charger...

I was hesitant to go and buy yet another aftermarket battery specifically made for the console as there's just no reputable sources to buy them from. They all massively exaggerate their capacity to a comical level, and have likely been sitting on a shelf for years.

So I set out to find a generic replacement battery that would fit inside the battery compartment of the DS Lite. After measuring up the compartment and using a bit of AI help, I found that the 703048 cell will fit the best. It's a hair thicker than the stock battery, and it's not quite as wide as the compartment, but it works great!
